And out of left field comes this question:

If you were a superhero, what superpowers would you prefer? What would your uniform look like? Any sidekicks?

This question has started some fairly interesting threads in other forums, so I figured I'd give it a try here. If you could include artwork of your superhero, that'd be grand.

I like this question.

Well, on a different tangent, my favorite superheros from my childhood were The WonderTwins. (hey! stop laughing!)

I'm not sure if they count as superheros, or more in the "mystical being" realm, but I think the powers that the Halliwell Sisters have on the series "Charmed" are cool.

I would love to be able to explode things, and move objects with my mind, just by thinking of it. Premonitions as well.

I would dress in black jeans, black Durango boots, black leather jacket, sunglasses. I guess a terminator look.

Like Cellardweller, I would wield the power of telekinesis, with pinpoint control and enough force to stop bullets and speeding automobiles. I would be psychic enough to perceive the bad vibes emanating from a criminal's mind just before he commits a heinous act. And I would be able to tell instinctively when someone was lying to me.
I would dress like The Shadow, with the addition of a full-face mask.
No sidekick...but I would have a hot-looking Lois Lane-type reporter following me around.

I've thought about this often, and come to the conclusion that I would have one single power - the ability to warp reality with the power of my mind. Then I could do anything at all! 😛

What would I wear? A smart, dirt-proof suit; think a bit like the character of Steed from The Avengers.

This superbeing actually exists in one of my Powerpuff Girls fanfiction stories - top to it off, he's the story's villain. ***Evil Grin***

Magneto. I thought long and hard about this before, often wanting the telekenetic powers too, but Magneto is ultimately and arguably, the most powerful super hero/villian ever (and being able to control anything metal is similar to telekinesis anyway. Just the ability to control magnetic fields alone gives you access to alot of things and possibilities, both good and dastardly, small, and world-devestating. He also has fairly strong psychic powers himself and the ability to read minds and shield himself from the same (even without his helmet, he only ever needs the helmet to block our Charles Xavier and stronger psychics like him, others he can deal with without the aid of the helmet.)

I'd want to model myself after Eric (Magneto) except I wouldn't have his mentality. Because my powers are superior to most other heros or villians and I do not live within society or a city I wouldn't need to wear a mask or conceal my identity as theres no danger to not concealing it, though as stated, I'd need a way to block out strong psychic attacks, so maybe a helmet like Magneto as well. I'd definitely wear a large cape, but my costume would be darker colors, not red like his. I'd imagine I'd be neutral, so as to allow balance to exist in the world. I would work with other superheros or even supervillians, but only if it was truely necessary to restore order or stop something that would cause chaos (like a world war), as soon as its over, so is our alliance. Co-existances would be allowed, but I'd imagine being as strong and powerful as I would be, there would be other superheros/supervillians (and the militaries of the world) that would want to take me out(or get me to work for them) or keep me under control knowing all to well that if I wanted to, on a whim, I could could destroy them all. Like Magneto, I'd be an army in and of myself. Being able to also hover and fly, like Magneto, would be both convienient and beneficial.

It would be cool to be the Master of Magnetism. Its both an offensive, defensive, and counter-offensive power. Its a very well-rounded power and has the ability to manipulate practically anything, even on grand scales if enough power is conducted.

I'd probably have a secret base too and live a solitary life, often dodging detection and location sweeps. My base of operations would probably be mobile therefore. Being who and what I am I wouldn't be able to have personal relationships with other heros or villians because my duty of keeping balance means I have to try and be impartial in everything. I would serve in a way the rest don't have to because they're either evil or good, not both like me. I'd be willing to have this power, but with it, the responsibility as well.

I'd imagine other heros would want to try and mind control me and use me for their own ends and some that would try to insist I should join their cause on a perminent basis. If a greater power came about, like aliens or something, and they were invincible against my particular power and I was therefore robbed of my ability (against them anyway) to maintain order and balance in the world I'd obviously have to team up.

Naturally of course, that would lead to relationships, even personal relationships, and I might just fall in love with another superhero and they might convince me I don't have to take all the burden of maintaining order on my shoulders and to trust other people, other heros to help in doing that.

Therefore, my stationary, mobile life would no longer be necessary.

I get the feeling because of my popularity/charisma I'd probably end up in a love triangle. Sort of like the whole Scott/Jean/Logan one. While this one may not work out for me, another relationship might. Anyways, I'm thinking too much into it now. 😛

I like Wonder Womans powers of strength but not the old Lynda Carter show where some thug could take her out just by putting a chloroformed cloth over her mouth! Think of all the horny teenagers (and adults!) who had fantasies over making Wondy unconscious and in their power. So I would want Supermans skin and lungs. I also like Green Lanterns ring that can do just about anything and even defeated Superman with it. I used to think Aquaman was hot when I was a kid watching the Justice League cartoons. He was like an aryan superman, blond, muscular and tall! I hate Batman however. He tries to scare people with a dark cape and smoke but he wont ever KILL some bad guy who is in the process of killing 100 people. I mean think about it...all the lives he could have saved if he killed the Joker. I love it when the President calls Superman to put Batman in his place! Batman punched Supes in the jaw and Supes didnt flinch and said "Youre lucky you didnt break your hand Bruce." Superman killed Doomsday when he had no choice. Thats a real warrior in my opinion. I used to work in a comic store in case your wondering!!! 😀

I would be a variant of Psylocke with her mind-warfare powers, pic attached 🙂

I think I would take the Green Lantern's powers. Green is my favorite color, that ring can do damn near anything, and the Green Lantern Corps. is just all-around cool. 😀

That pic is a commercial photo from a fantasy convention, but the model (and the character) resembles me. In fact, at OCMB, I use an avatar made from a painting of Psylocke which looks uncannily like me when shrunk to the right size 🙂

The Joker OWNS Batman to a point where its sad. LOL

Then how come Batman has bitched slapped the Joker so many times?

Personally I think that's the best part of his personality. The fact that no matter how bad things get he won't sink to the villains level, he continues his crusade no matter what the obstacle. What sort of super hero kills people he deems fit? (Apart from the Punisher who's a punk if you ask me) Also the reason he scares people with the cape is because unlike Soupy, he doesn't have any super powers whatsoever. He needs that costume as a symbol of fear to the bad guys.
And Batman would pawn Superman so bad, the dusty remains of Krypton would feel it. He's already done it on one occasion (possibly more)

...

Damn I need a life.

Well as the only supervillian here at TT with the powers of that idiot Superman, the only other power I would like is Green Lantern's power ring I am not afraid of Batman I could blast him with heat vision 100 miles away
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HE WILL KNEEL BEFORE ZOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For the record, they've proven time and time again that Batman is more screwed up mentally than any of the villains he pursues. It was the focus of a miniseries they did once....forget what it was called....

Personally I would love Martian Manhunter's powers. For those who have never heard of him, hes one of the lesser known members of the Justice League, able to control the various physical properties of his body (invisibility, passing through solid matter, flight) and to a certian degree, shapeshifting and telepathy. The full extent of his powers was never fully explored and it seems new ones popped up every so often. My favorite part is the invisibility/passing through solid matter combo, like a living ghost. Imagine the tickling fun you could have with that....LOL

Hm, several people have listed one's id be

Problem with this is that there are so many, so top 3 i would choose
Green lantern-Power ring that can do whatever your will wants
Simon "Wonderman" Williams-A no hame hero who was on the avengers but got his own shot at alternative reality comics in marvel, was a hollywood actor who got super strength and tech is ageless
Spike-Not really a super hero but a vampire with a soul and looks hella good in that leather jacket and cant beat the bleach blonde hair.

Cheshire, wasnt MM later discovered to be Bloodwynd of the justice league? I still remember that classic scene of blue beetle realizing who bloodwynd was till he got wreckingballed by Doomsday

You just asked a mouthful.....its really complicated. Long before the JLA, Martian Manhunter merged with Bloodwynd in order to save his life. MM took on the basic appearance of Bloodwynd (explaining why he looks more human than others of his species) while his soul kinda got trapped inside a "blood gem" and Bloodwynd took control. In reality, it was Bloodwynd who chose to join the JLA while MM just went along for the ride. After they were seperated (JLA #77) Bloodwynd stayed on with the main team while MM started another faction of the JLA known as the Justice League Task Force.....wow.....I'm an UBER-DORK.....LOL

Dev if you read the quote from me you posted, Bats punched Supes square in the jaw and nearly broke his hand and Supes didnt even feel it. How can a man with no superpowers defeat a man with heat vision, x-ray vision, strongest hero in DC universe and the ability to fly not to mention bullet proof skin and lungs that can produce gail force winds? Whats Batman gonna do? Throw the batarang at him? Check out the overhyped "Death of Superman" storyline where Doomsday cuts through every superhero in the DC universe about. Who was it up to to stop this seemingly invicible killer? Batman? PLEASE! It was Superman. And he knew that like Batman tying him up for the police wouldnt do for Doomsday so he had to kill him and died himself in the process...sort of. Batman wouldnt even last 15 seconds with Doomsday. Maybe not even 10. Superman is the most powerful, just ask our resident supervillian Gen. Zod who has the same powers as Kal-El. I gotta get a life! Someone start a horror movie thread please???? :wooha:

In defense, doomsday didnt gut the entire dc universe, he only went thru the JLA and not even the entire league, there were many super heroes who didnt fight him, but i will agree, in books that came out specific to doomsdays origins and subplots, doomsday pulled a hal jordan and nearly destroyed the Green Lantern Corps.

In defense of batsy, he can use his intelligence to beat superman, batman didnt use muscle to beat his foes, he used his intelligence to create devices to beat his foes, if lex luthor could come close to killin superman multiple times, i think batman could do it too

Well goodie we agree on some points but Superman also uses his intelligence to defeat foes. Hes far from stupid. Hes not a detective but he does use his brain to beat foes like Myxlplick (I know I spelled that wrong!). You know the little guy who can bend reality to his will but if he says his name backwards he goes back to his dimension. Face it folks Superman is the Babe Ruth of superheroes. When you think comics to the avg. Joe the first hero that pops into their heads is Superman.

The powers of Elongated Man/Plasticman would be great Just think You could tie a woman up with your powers and tickle her Speaking of Elongated man I still can't believe DC killed off his wife Sue Dibny a few months back

Ok, a few things.

1) The Green Lantern's ring. Now correct meif I'm wrong, but isn't the ring ineffective against anything yellow? So if I am wearing a yellow rain slicker and carrying a Crosswalk sign as a shield, I probably don't have too much to worry about from that.

2) In defense of Batman, as a completely mortal human being, Batman had the drive to transform himself in as many ways as he possibly could into something more than he was. Superman got his powers strictly by accident, it didn't require any sort of choice on is part. He got sent to a place where the sun gave him power. Batman had to learn to be a detective, escape artist, inventor, martial artist, etc. If you take away the costume and the gadgets, you still have a very formidable human being who is highly trained in unarmed comabt, psychological warfare, and is physically dangerous. Can Superman say the same? Could he be a hero without his powers? Zap him with some Kryptonite, and what sort of man would you have left?

3) As for the power I would choose, I think I would choose to weild the same powers as a black hole. (gravitational manipulation, radiation, etc) Given what the real things can do, that sort of power in the hands of one person could be devastating. Imagine being able to condense matter into so small a space that a teaspoon of the stuff would weigh hundreds of tons...and then hurl it at someone...OUCH. Or warping gravity around that person to imitate conditions at the singularity, where the gravity is so strong it turns people into spaghetti...eeewwwww.

Ghost Host
I do believe this current Green Lantern does not have the ineffectiveness against yellow A few yaers back Hal Jordan lost it and went against the GL Corps After the fallout Kyle Rainer was chosen to be the next GL His ring doesn't have the ineffectiveness against yellow
Now to further confuse us Hal Jordan is being brought back as a Green Lantern, along with the GL Corps Hal was the Spectre for awhile But DC is bringing him back

Heh if this is adam west's batman, he'll have anti superman kryptonite spray in his utility belt

There have been occasions where Batman has outdone Soups by brain power alone. One occasion was when Superman came under the control of Poison Ivy, Batman was able to knock him down enough to stop the control. There is also the fact that Batman has devised ways of defeating the entire JLA and has had to rescue each of them when the methods were used by Rha's Al Ghul (that right?) Also Batman does have a ring of kryptonite...
