I've been part of the UK scene for 20 years now, and have seen it grow exponentially during that time.
I've been privileged to have made some awesome connections and pals during this time, some I've known for over a decade or more.
There's a real sense of community and belonging when we meet, for munches and events, and a feeling of sadness, when after fun times, we have to depart and head back to reality.
I wish there was a scene when I was younger, but even though I'm more seasoned, weathered, rounded now, I don't feel judged in any way and can pick up conversations and the banter that goes with it.
Aftercare is very important, as mood normally drops after fun times and the first few days back in the office are grim, but usually there is a space to acknowledge this and grow.
I'm a veteran member of the community, but I still want to evolve, learn, grow, be the best version of myself.
Today has been a long day, so I ordered pizza, have chosen that feeling of comfort and warmth, probably not the best for my belly, but I have a strong desire to eat better, live better, exercise more going forward.
I value my place as part of the scene and try not to take anything or anyone for granted, this year has been mentally tough, but i'm forever hopeful that if I can navigate the next couple of months unscathed, I can look forward to 2025 with optimism.
I'm missing my friends and am looking forward to seeing them again soon.
