so...i'm sick of people asking me if i've seen a movie and my reply is always "nope" and then they say..."what?! it's the best movie ever!"

so. this summer i am going to movie educate myself. it's a must. so...i am going to make a list of the top 50 must see movies. MUST SEE. and i will watch them all (even if i've already watched them)

and true...i could just google this...but i thought this would be more fun.

so start naming 'em people...just some movies you would recommend because it is the best movie you've ever seen and it just completely changed your life!

Not sure what kinds of flicks you are/aren't into. Nor am I sure about them being life changing. But, some of the favs that I go back to on a regular basis are...

Pulp Fiction
Office Space
Accross the Universe
Half Baked
Blues Brothers
Avatar
Princess Bride
Dead Poets Society

Just to name a few.

(There was a thread last year...I think...about must see movies for someone else to see. But, I'm too spaced to look it up at the moment. lol)

Gone With the Wind

Here's three off the top of my head.

1. Shawshank Redemption

2. Princess Bride

I'm Thirding "Princess Bride", and throwing in "Star Dust".

As well, Star Wars # 4, 5, & 6.

Aliens 1, 2, & 3

I compiled my personal list of my top ten favorite films of all time. Granted its not one that I say its official and it will never change. My opinion might change as time progresses but here it is.

1. Back to the Future I, II, and III (I count them all as one movie even if their not)

2. Forrest Gump

3. The Nightmare Before Christmas

4. Seven

5. Monty Python and the Holy Grail

6. Terminator 2: Judgment Day (Also recommend the first movie)

7. The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly (Also recommend Fistful of Dollars, and For a Few Dollars More)

8. Kill Bill Vol. I, & II (They ARE the same movie)

9. Amadeus

10. Jurassic Park

There you go. I'd recommend a lot more but that's my list for now.

oh my gosh...you people rock. i am going to be so movie educated people aren't going to know what to do with my movie quoting abilities! :D

and yes SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION..i get it i get it...hahaha

Aimee...if you want to see some really good movies, stay away from anything pretty much beyond about late 90's (96-now) with very FEW RARE exceptions. Since then movies have been more about "BANG BOOM, BIG STAR, CATCH-PHRASE, BIG CHASE, FINAL SHOWDOWN, END." Not too much substance.

Here are a few though I can give you...
12 Angry Men..either the original or the 80's remake
Airplane (The funniest movie of all time)
M*A*S*H*
Gone With The Wind
Angels With Dirty Faces (Bogart & Cagney)
The Amazing Doctor Clitterhouse (FANTASTIC MOVIE!!)--(Cagney & Bogart)
Little Caesar (Ed. G Robinson)
Shawshank Redemption
Rudy
The Birdcage
Blood in, Blood Out-Bound by Honor (If you have 3 hours to watch)
Outbreak
The Fifth Element (one of the few past 1995 or so that belongs on a list)

That is all I can think of for now.

Rob
