movie help please :)

I would cross off any movies in the last ten years and start with some of the classics. Definitely check out Kubrick and Scorcese films. They are fucking phenomenal. Like "2001 A Space Odyssey" is crazy. And then you remember it was made in the fucking 60s and you're completely blown away. Taxi Driver, one of DeNiro's first movies, makes you realize why and how he became Robert Fucking DeNiro. Annie Hall is of course Woody Allen's masterpiece and if you haven't seen Forrest Gump, it's a must.

To add to that, Apocalypse Now, ET, Disney's Fantasia, The Quiet Man, Raging Bull, A Streetcar Named Desire, Casablanca, and Some Like It Hot. To start off with, anyway. :)

Seriously people, we are talking TOP movies here and I don't think I have seen any of the "Classic Classics"!

CADDYSHACK "It's in the hole!!"
FLETCH "What kind of name is POON anyway?" "Comanche Indian."

Just my 2cents.

This is the most obnoxious list ever. I never intended for it to be that long. At any rate, those are movies I luff.

And for what it's worth, here's the old thread. It was mine :) I never did watch any of those movies, though LOL

Well, me being quite a movie freak, I would allow myself to reccomend something too.

1. Man on the moon (Jim Carrey)
2. Hardball ( Keanu Reeves)
3. Reign over me (Adam Sandler)
4. Eight nights by Adam Sandler ( deeply touching Christmas animation)

And now some non-American movies:

1. Belle de jour (one of the best, if not the best movie of Louis Bunuel)
2. La dolce Vita ( Italian, directed by the great Federico Fellini)
3. L'ultimo tango a Parigi (translated as Last tango in Paris. Marlon Brando takes part in this film)
4. La vita e bella ( translated as Life is beautiful, by Roberto Benini)

Well, those are what I'd call great movies. Hope you see some of them, and I'd be happy to hear your thoughts on what you saw :p

First and foremost, this. ^

Secondly, if you'd like I can go through and cross off about 100 of the movies suggested. Because they're ass. I promise.

For example, do NOT waste your time seeing ANY of the Transformer movies. Honestly, little to no plot, a lot of explosions, and Megan Fox looking dirty as fuck. You're not missing anything if you haven't seen them. In addition to any and all Adam Sandler movies and the majority of the recent blockbuster hits. Seriously, give the word and I will weed out all of the crap that people are throwing at you. No offense to anyone - I love you all - I just don't want her eyes to bleed out of her skull watching ANYTHING that Will Ferrell is in.

Lastly, if you haven't already, you should absolutely watch Disney's Fantasia, Forrest Gump, and the Kill Bill saga. And I may come back and give you more later.

Now that Gin-gerale has put a stop to the endless cinematic shenanigans, I'll lend my recommendations, being among the more experienced cineastes of the forum. Alchemy, AnnieHall, Musicroxmysox09, and gothfreakhell might be able to run circles around me about music...but I don't know nobody who can best me at movies!

She's right Aimesley, over half the shit recommended is crap. Unfortunately, I can only recommend good shit you have to see that doesn't require a film school degree to understand or appreciate (which is why The Brown Bunny, Freddy Got Fingered or David Lynch movies aren't on here) so this list won't be as thorough as I'd like it to be.

Everything that Amnesiac suggested is A-list...with the exception of Anchorman. Don't do it, Amy. Don't. Do. It.

All these suggestions and not a single person for this:

*Empire Records*

also....

*Anything by Wes Anderson (aka...Rushmore, The Royal Tenenbaums, The Life Aquatic, Darling Limited....)

I'm sure I could think of other things, but right now I'm to lazy and you have tons of suggestions already. :)
