I have been driving big rig for 16 years now. Back when I first started,I was going to be over the road for a year or so,then get a local trucking job. I guess I must have gypsy blood in me. There have been a lot of changes over the years for us truckers.
Some good. Some bad. I have lost count of how many trucking companies have either been bought out by another trucking company,or just closed up for good. There have been quite a few truck stops that went the same way.
When I fist started, diesel was less than a dollar a gallon. Freight was plentiful. Then diesel started rising too much. Nowadays, too many loaded trailers are being put onto the rails. I guess the non-cdl people want less truck traffic on their roads.
I figure I have driven around 1,500,000 miles. How many people drive that in 60 0r 70 years?
