A question often bandied about the TMF is "face up or face down" when it comes to tickling. For me, its always been about face up, for one reason.
Eye contact.
Eye contact, to me, is everything - It's the reason I've never been a big blindfold fan and why any position where I can't see the tickler is less appealing.
The eyes, cliche as it may be, are truly the windows to the soul, and I'm going to want to be able to look into my tickler's eyes as they do their thing. I want to see the expression on their face - the joy of having me under their control, the determination to find just the right combination of spot and technique to make me breathless, the amused twinkle in their eyes and grin as I start begging before they've even touched me.
Eye contact is paramount.
I believe I've spoken about my favorite tied experience before, sitting up in a chair, and I think one of the reasons it resounds with me (besides the relative immobility) is the fact that I had such an easy time connecting with the tickler. Since my feet were the primary focus, I was that much closer, and so felt much more "involved" in the process.
Does that sound weird? Perhaps.
What also sounds weird is when I tell people that one of my most common reactions to being tickled is to squeeze my eyes shut. I can't help it; it just happens!
But when my eyes are open, I want to see the tickler. Fin.
