  • I wish you could, too... sigh. Darn the luck. And so you put your two cents in, good for you!
I meant me.... the young uns need to growup and realize that the world doesn't revolve around them and their ideas/ideals. But thanks 😛
LOL. It's ok, hon. I wouldn't post a rant like that in my blog... yet. It's in GenDis under the Harry Potter thread by Aimee. Sorry, I'm just grumpy. I guess I could put a link in....
Men's room??? Oh, you mean, the outside unisex bathroom. Yeah, it can on occasion get really smelly thanks to the truckers who stop by. 😀
Both at work and on here... I shall name no names. You can read my nasty retort if you wish...
Well, other than feeling a little snotty, I'm ok. And I mean I'm tired of petty, narrow-minded young punks who think their shit doesn't stink. SO.... sorry, I'm cranky. I got little sleep as I watched the Harry Potter midnight showing last night 😀
No, bore me. Please. It'll distract me from the work I'm avoiding. In a horrible heap on the kitchen table, under my third cup of tea.
I'm fine thanks, rather busy these days. Career change and all that, and a few recovery issues following the trip through Asia. I'm teaching here in Edinburgh for the summer. What's happening with you?
Nothing really. Just working. Unprotected wireless signals are awesome. But these are kinda weak so I get kicked off occasionally. 😀
    ok will do lol
Yes,they tie in nicely togeather.🙂 I'd love to meet some of my ancestors.William Bradford, who came here on the Mayflower is in the family tree. And the Wright brothers are also,on my mothers side.

Warning,i can go on and on about this stuff.😉
lol, yes don't pick a fight with someone who can drink a frickin' bear under the table! 😛

So THAT'S what sparked your interest in history? For me it's kinda the other way around: History makes genealogy awesome because I can relate to all the historic events, and it's grand to know that your ancestors were right in the thick of it. 🙂
You family has such an interesting history! 😱 Granted, I know very little about my own familys past, so maybe we do to. But again I wouldn't know, lol.

I, uh, have one funny story though: My grandfather was a doctor, and at one time he was visiting this Sami village in northern Sweden. The Sami are like our version of Indians. These guys had turned drinking into quite an art, for example when they drank coffee that was actually 90% booze.

Anyway, so this one Sami guy spots an alcohol bottle in my grandfathers luggage, which was heavily concentrated alcohol used to clean out wounds. Of course the fellow wanted to have a sip, so before my grandfather could stop him he had started drinking. The mans face turned all red, he dropped the bottle and just stood there looking shocked for a few moments, before running out of the tent. A minute or so later he came back in and asked my grandfather: "Where the HELL did you get that stuff? It would be a huge hit around here!" :roflmao:
Ok sorry, I misread that. I blame it on the lack of sleep. 😉 Well I bet it's still a great book!

Too bad about the house fire, but to try and remain positive it was perhaps lucky that you got to keep the diaries, as they are much more personal than the weapons. Still a big loss though. 🙁

The only ancestor of mine who I know for a fact was in the army was a regimental priest of sorts back in the 30 Year's War. Amongst our family keepsakes we have a bible from the 17th century, but I don't think it belonged to him - even though it looks like it has been carried around in the middle of a war.

Other than that we have a coin dating back to the Swedish-Norwegian union and a couple of books from the 18th & 19th century, but we haven't got anything badass like a diary or any weapons.
Amazing! I want to go there now! I know far too little about the Pacific Theater unfortunately. 🙁 We barely get to read about it in school, and I just haven't happened to come accross any books either... =/

Your family has some proud military background, obviously! 🙂 But wait, you're saying your dad and uncle are actually in that book? 😱 You should PM me the names or pages or something. I'll try to get the book just because of that!
True that, so thank the higher powers that Hitler was overconfident and seriously believed he was invincible! 😱 🙂

    Scary stuff...
