ah Ted Kennedy

Well everyone is entitled to their own opinions. Just expect those of us on the left to pull UTTERLY NO PUNCHES when Cheney or any member of the Bush family die. ^_~

Thats fine. but keep in mind, those republicans you named are not murderers or philanderers. 😉

uh Maniac..Cheney is worse that a philanderer..and how do you know they haven't murdered anyone???? remember Cheney is not great at shooting a gun..

Sure...they haven't murdered anyone. They've just done cocaine, skipped out of their patriotic duty of military service, let an entire city of the United States of America go underwater without mobilizing any aid for the people in that city, sent over 4,000 American troops to their deaths in two wars that have had no benefit to the United States people as a whole, and donated billions of our taxpayer dollars to the corporations under the guise of "economic stimulus". Yeah Maniac, they're great people (coughbullshticough).

hahah that should make him think...lol

anyhoo..last night i watched the celebration to Ted's life...i had no idea he could draw..nor did i know about his terrific sense of humour...also just what a big heart he did in fact have..

and today i just finished watching the beautiful and moving funeral...Ted Kennedy Jr. made quite an impression on me...and even moved David to tears...

LOL The only reason Teddy wanted to change that law in Mass> was so his buddy the governor could appoint his sucessor to the Senate instead of allowing the people to vote in a general election.....

This is a good thing? Loved Bobby and John......nothing left for the likes of Ted....

May he find the peace in death that he never had in life.....

This is so sad.

A guy passed away from cancer and people still managed to turn it into "labnanal vs cupservertayve".

Seriously, guys... grow up.

Izzy, Rox. Thanks for respecing the dead. Big shout out to the two of you! 😀

i love Ted Kennedy
I knew Ted Kennedy

Izzy...you are no Ted Kennedy....giggles

I was a fan of JFK... and even RFK from what I read of him. Teddy... not so much. I didn't care for his politics. I live in Mass and the Kennedy family is treated like royalty. It gets old quick. He was a old school politician and he was no stranger to backroom politics.

With that being said I find no joy in his death. I would have preferred him to be voted out, not dead. Brain cancer is no way for anyone to go. I hope that he finds his peace.

As for this "he wanted to change a law in his state, so that the Govenor could appoint a replacement for him."

Kennedy was at fault for that law being in place. He and the state Democrats pushed for the change and state legislature supported him. The law was changed to protect John Kerry's seat when he ran for President. They didn't want Romney to appoint a Republican if Kerry won the Presidency. The whole push to change the law back is disgusting and hypocritical. No government should be that ridiculously fluid in election law.

Ted Kennedy is gone. A GBM (the type of tumor he had) is the nastiest of all the brain cancers and a horrid way to go. I did not care for the late Senator due to his politics and mine being 180 degrees different, but would have preferred for him to slip more peacefully into that good night. I've treated several GBM patients, and it is not easy to treat.

That being said, perhaps now this nation can FINALLY get over this hyper-romanticized notion of the Kennedy's being this nation's "Royal Family?" He made so much of his career living off the 'warm fuzzies' everyone feels to JFK and RFK it was agonizing at times. People ranted about how long Strom Thurmond stayed around, but no one seems to care that Ted or Senator "Sheets" Byrd have hung around nearly as long. Until he remarried, he was the laughingstock of the Senate for his boozing. He's not the superhuman the press is laying him out to be. He simply represents the 'old guard' mentality of the Senate that needs to be winnowed out and replaced by real leaders ON EITHER SIDE OF THE AISLE, rather than politicians out to screw things up even more than they are now.

I'll lay down money that someone from the Kennedy clan will quickly get Massachusetts citizen status so they can run for the seat. Heaven forbid we go without a Kennedy in the Senate. How could we survive? Mark my words, that will be the campaign message.

Strom Thurmond was a segregationist, and he made no attempts to hide that other than having a child with a black maid which didn't become public until after he died. Who wouldn't complain about that piece of crap?

Ah Hawk...i'm hoping Ted Jr. will go into politics..yes i like having a Kennedy at the helm, so to speak...makes me feel safer...but not all warm and fuzzy...his second marriage must have saved him...i had no idea he got his first marriage annulled...and i also thought Joan was dead, until i saw her yesterday at the funeral...

Speaking of which...it was a beautiful service...albeit a bit long...but Catholic funerals are always rather long..

Ever since i was born, a Kennedy has been in the senate...i don't want to see that end...we need a Kennedy to fight for the middle classes...and i saw Byrd last night...wow is he looking frail.....but damn he's old...i never cared for Byrd, but i did feel a bit sorry for him as i watched him sobbing..and waving a small flag...

ah Venray...now i remember why i love you so much....:stickout

And Byrd is an admitted former Grand Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan. Funny, I don't see you complaining about HIM in the Senate. In fact it was the late Sen. Kennedy who nicknamed him "Sheets."

I could play "Tit for Tat" with you all day if you want, all the way back the 1800's. As I said in the original post, we need to clean house and get REAL LEADERSHIP on both sides of the aisle.

I agree with Featherdaemon, but in todays world, and the way the press is anymore, President Kennedy couldn't get elected! His womanizing would have bit him right in the a$$!!! Although, that being said, if I had had a shot at Marilyn Monroe I would have taken it too!!!! LOL.

While I've long wanted to see Ted Kennedy out of office, I never wished any harm to the man. Rest in peace, Ted.

spoken like a true gentleman...i know your views on politics...

Look in the mirror. you just described things that democrats do to a T. 😱

As long as the only political parties that we've got are the mostly-unprincipled Republicans and the mostly-spineless Democrats, this country is going nowhere. The institutionalized corruption endemic to our government doesn't help matters either.

Back to Mr. Kennedy. One theory I've heard kicked around is that Mr. K. got Mary Jo Kopechne pregnant and staged the Martha's Vineyard "accident" to cover up the business. Makes no sense to this man, because even though Roe V. Wade was four years off, the rich and powerful could still obtain abortions, albeit at great trouble and cost. Or if he'd wanted to have Ms. Kopechne whacked, that could have been done in much more discreet (read: career-protecting) kinds of ways.

Noted conservative pundit Cal Thomas wrote a tribute article on Ted K., despite their diametrically opposing political views. It's nice when people can have alittle decorum in this bitterly divided country anymore.

This has always been my view on things. I try to stick to that lofty ideal. I am willing to have a discussion with anybody on anything. More than likely my views will be different on some things and closer on others. Nobody is a cookie cutter anything. When people can just sit down and talk then that is when progress is made.

My signature quote is from the eulogy Ted gave at his brother's funeral in 1968...Robert Kennedy was assassinated after giving a speech..

There sure were a lot of nut-jobs with guns running around blowing away prominent figures in the 60's, weren't there?

The democrats didn't have a president in office for the last eight years Maniac. You give Bush and Cheney credit when they did nothing but cause pain and suffering in this nation and indeed around the world.
