Am i as bad as HITLER?

Ok since we are on the topic of sin..lol..and i didn't want to derail buggie's excellent thread regarding sin and tickling..i thought i'd bring up an interesting idea or question actually..do you consider all sins to be equal? Case in point..i've lied, i've coveted other women's babies, (although i never did anything about it of course) i've gone behind my husband's back those few times for tickle sessions..these are all sins..i am the first to admit that..but are these sins as bad as child killing and/or raping? killing in general, such as serial killers, who do it in cold blood..Hitler et al. who exterminated whole masses of people? If Hitler, before he died..had gotten down on his hands and knees and truthfully asked for forgiveness for all that he had done..however he did commit suicide so..but anyway..would he have been forgiven? these are hypothetical questions..and i think, religious or not, you can probably give your own insights as to what you think.

My husband believes all sins are equal..however i do not. but i do believe that if someone truly and honestly and penanently sp? asks for forgiveness, they will be..but Hitler? hmm..i just don't know..

yes i agree with you on the fact that MAN decided what are sins and what aren't..and yes Jesus did not condemn Mary..or anyone..in fact he said Let you who are without sin, cast the first stone.

Sins are sins for instance if you steal a dollar or steal the content of fort knox its still theft.

On that basis the punishment in law would be different,so if god is fair and just there must be a level or scale of seriousness regarding the various sins.

You sins are common place in this world and very small compared to hitlers.

But there are sins against god, humanity, the church, all sorts of sins.

Raises the question is there a god and if so which god is the right god.

Sin can be sort of implied, or by ignorance, or ommissions, like in the western world we know people are starving in the third world we donate (well i hope we do, if not do it) but few of us do anything about it, or go out there and help, someonelse made this comment in a blog or thread not so long back, my partner is always going on about the third world and i think will go there one day, if i go also the authorites will get a kicked butt for certain.

because we know and do nothing that could be considered a sin with a severe god.

Every culture has their own deities, with whom are certian are the only gods. The ancient Egyptians, the Greeks, The Romans, Druids/Celts of Britian and Ireland, and the gods of the Native Americans, and of course the Judeo/Christian deity.

Since each cuture claimed that their own gods were the 'right' ones, whos to say for sure? Does any one religion or faith have a monopoly over what is considered to be the 'true' god?

Yes, there is no sin or good or evil, there are only life lessons and experiences, of course, you can always expect cause and effect in the process. The truth is everyone is a Adolph Hitler and everyone is a Jesus Christ.

Even Jesus in the Bible stated that we were all gods.

I have been called worse:lol And I did bring that point up once to a group of Jehovah witnesses and got a blank stare in return😱

And I don't mean to bash Christians as my best friend is one, but I think it's ironic they love to point out the faults in others, but at the same time don't want to admit to their own faults.

And yes I know not every Christian is a judgemental hypocrite, but the ones I have encountered, are. They seem to think they are oh-so-perfect and everybody else is going to hell.

I am reminded of what Jesus told Peter when he was going to the house of a Tax Collector and Peter said something along the lines of 'I can't believe you are going to socialise with sinners' to which Jesus rebuked and said 'Some of these sinners may see Heaven before you do'

I would imagine sins like killing and stealing would be worse than coveting or adultery, but even with those, is killing in self-defense still worse than stealing someone's car? Or is stealing to feed your family still worse than committing adultery? Then there are the sins that are more minor than those, how would you rate them? Some Christians still believe homosexuality is a sin. Is it worse than adultery? Or is it on the same level? Is it worse than getting a tattoo? Or coveting?

There's a lot of gray area when it comes to sins and I believe God sees that. He knows our hearts and our minds. In the eyes of the Lord, anyone can be forgiven, no sin too great, if you truly, truly repent.

It all comes down to what you believe. For me, as a Christian, I leave it in God's hands. I pray, I repent, and I live my life as best as I can.

Nemesis i adore you..speaking of homosexuality..my Pastor as i was growing up was as near sainthood as you can get..with ONE exception..he fired our children's choir director, only because he was a homosexual..i was devastated as we all liked this man..so my Pastor wasn't such a saint if he judged another.

When Jesus said that, he was actually citing a passage from the Psalms, wherein the usage of the word gods, is actually more "gods", with the importance of the quotation marks being critical. And in the original Psalm, "gods" is defined as "sons of the Most High". By citing this verse, Jesus could arguably be seen as using clever wordplay to deflect the angry accusations of the mob that was trying to seize him at the time. He was saying, "You're upset that I claim to be God, but according to Psalm 86, aren't you all 'gods' of sorts, too, you who claim ancestry through Abraham as your right as heirs of God? And since an heir is more often than not a son, you then claim to be son of the Most High, thereby being a 'god' as it says in the Psalm. So then, why is my claim worse than yours?"

Exactly. I think the Bible makes it pretty clear that in most instances, it's why we do things, rather than what. There are some clear boundaries, but judging by the heart is more important, and since humans have a tendency to louse that up, it's why we're supposed to leave it to God. Am I perfect at that? Is anyone, really?

I believe sin is sin. In the eyes of human law, yes, there are serious differences with many levels and gradations of severity. But to God, we're all sinners. We're all imperfect. If you miss the bulls-eye even once, your marksmanship record can never, ever, ever be 100% again. And that's what sin really is... it's missing the bulls-eye. To say all sin is equal is oddly true, but the practical interpretation is taken wrong. The point in saying that all sin is equal is to point out that we are all in need of a Savior. And those who point it out to you may be blind to their own shortcomings. Many are. But many are aware of their problems, or may not be intentionally blind. We are all in need of a Savior, and we can all be accountability partners to each other, if we do it out of love.

I believe that if you try your hardest to be a good person, then a slip-up along the way shouldn't condemn you. And indeed, a little white lie is not as bad as a murder. Hell, that's why I decided to stop caring what anybody thinks of me, including God. Kindness is all that really matters.
