Anime to watch

Well, let's see...
A lot of anime already mentioned so, I'll try to think of some that haven't...
How about, Saber Marionnette J, very funny one... A must see, Akira(actually surprised nobody mentioned it yet)... Those who hunt elves is very good too, amazingly funny... And of course, I can't fail to mention Samurai X, the OAVs are great, and the Rurouni Kenshin tv series is quite good, I would recommend watching up to chapter 62 and then quit though, leave it while it's worth it...

Oh yeah, Akira. My friend likes that. He says the manga is great. I'd like to check it out sometime.

You should, it's very good, the movie was actually one of the first anime I ever watched, and it got me hooked up to the genre ever since...
 
Ghost in the shell 2nd GIG.... is that a new show??? if so, i gotta watch that!

Ive never heard of the torrent site you mentioned, Kimiko, but will check it out. I use boxtorrents but, again, hard to find licensed things. Also the downloads are HUGE and take forever which is why I just joined netflix. Worth the price, definately.
If boxtorrents ever gets around to accepting new memberships then you should check it out.
Other torrent sites I use for other stuff besides anime are www.torrentspy.com and www.isohunt.com
They ahve things, licensed and not, but are not anime specific so may not have as wide a selection. Browse the torrents for the most populated rather than searching.
 
Here's what i've seen so far:

Full Metal Alchemist: i swear this anime is the gold standard for all animes. Awesome animation and the stroy is to die for. There are some really funny parts too. Roy dissing Ed by calling him short. Roy wanting to make all women wear skirts.....

Hellsing: Love the theme song to this. Also pretty good. Beware, this anime is way bloody and has some sexual content in it. But the animation is good and the soundtrack is nothing to laugh at.

One Piece: yes i know, this anime is for kids. But come on, its serious sometimes. But the greatest part aboutthis anme is its brightness, everything is so bright and crisp. The humor is a bit childish but who isn't a kid at heart anyways?

Naruto: Great anime as well. About a ninja-in-training. Good animation, fight animation really are well done here. Story is solid but only big complaint is that the stroy line has way too many fillers in it.

Escaflowne: U like mecha, U like romance, U like fighting? This is so the anime for u. Combined with an excellent soundtrack (by none other than Yokko Kanno herself) this anime will always please.

Star Blazers That's a series from the 80's
 
Star Wars Clone Wars Animated Micro Series; Its on this saturday on Cartoon Network; if you watched star wars, you WILL laugh at how the main characters look/sound in there. And the graphics are cool to. 😎

Well I saw Akira, a little too much of the Evangelion confusion going on there for me. Don't get me wrong I'm not stoopid and I do understand them, I just prefer to watch stuff that's easy to follow sometimes 🙂 .
Vampire hunter D I started to watch and got about halfway. Don't know why exactly. but I really didnt like this one 🙁 .
Ninja scroll I saw too, though I was very drunk at the time. I remember a lot of nudity and sex, and thats about it. And something about some little 2 foot tall guy in a suit, but that could just be my imagination 😵 .
 
Evangelion was one of the best Anime I've seen. Most people just find it so hard to understand. That's one of the reasons it doesn't always get the credit it deserves.

Another great Anime by the way, is Gantz. I encourage everyone to check it out sometime.
 
I think Berserk is one of the best action animes out there. You will feel for the characters.
 
Gigantor the space age rooobot...he's at your command!

Oh god....some days Im up late enough to watch this...it makes Speed Racer look like technological brilliance. ^^

You gotta read the manga man...it COMPLETELY blew me away. One of my top 3.
 
Uggg...Excel Saga gave me a terrbile headache.

Other than the obvoiusly great animes like Evangelion, Cowboy Bebop, and Samurai X (the movies, not the series) I would also recommend

-Gundam Wing - Great, great 52 episode series (If anyone mentioned this one, I missed it)

-Ninja Scroll - dunno much about the ADV series, but the "manga" movie is a classic...first anime I ever watched

-Those Who Hunt Elves is insanly hilarious (much better than excel saga, I would say)

-Anything by Hayao Miyazaki - Everyone <B>HAS</B> to watch Spirited Away, and Howl's Moving Castle, Princess Mononoke, Castle in the Sky, and Nausicaa are all excellent

I'll post more later.
 
I second the votes for R.O.D. and Gundam Wing. They showed R.O.D. a couple of months back on G4TV's Anime Unleashed, and I thought it was pretty good and well worth checking out.
I know Gundam Wing tends to catch some flak from the Gundam purists, but it's also a really good show. I went into watching it not knowing a whole lot about Gundams as a whole, and I did find the show very entertaining.
As a kid, I'd always been into the Transformers cartoons, so you might want to check out some of the Japanese series, like Masterforce, Victory, or Headmasters if you'd be interested. I've got the Japanese Generation 1 episode "Scramble City" and the Zone one-shot on a VCD, and I thought they were pretty good.
 
RahXephon - Kind of like Evangelion, quite confusing but artistically beautiful

Last Exile - Anime without the "anime" look to it, the images are nice, world where it takes place quite fantastic and the story rocks

GunGrave - made by the same people has Trigun, didn,t see them all but very promising

Eureka7 - for some reason i'm hooked to it, giants robots surfing on invisible particles just get to me. can only be found on www.nanashi-fansubs.com

Macross - The one that started my anime love

Ninja Scroll movie - only seen the movie, it was quite nice, quite violent ( not has much blood has Elfen Lied, but more realistic and dark - they're ninja's - )

That's all that comes to mind
