Sorry I am a late into the discussion.
Well I want to dispel a few myths that has been going around, First off You Tube is not nor ever has been a family website. Never is the content meant to be fully child safe.
Yes YouTube does have rules in regards to pornography
"Don't Cross the Line
Here are some common-sense rules that will help you steer clear of trouble:
■YouTube is not for pornography or sexually explicit content. If this describes your video, even if it's a video of yourself, don't post it on YouTube. Also, be advised that we work closely with law enforcement and we report child exploitation. Please read our Safety Center and stay safe on YouTube.
■Don't post videos showing bad stuff like animal abuse, drug abuse, under-age drinking and smoking, or bomb making.
■Graphic or gratuitous violence is not allowed. If your video shows someone being physically hurt, attacked, or humiliated, don't post it.
■YouTube is not a shock site. Don't post gross-out videos of accidents, dead bodies or similar things intended to shock or disgust.
■Respect copyright. Only upload videos that you made or that you are authorized to use. This means don't upload videos you didn't make, or use content in your videos that someone else owns the copyright to, such as music tracks, snippets of copyrighted programs, or videos made by other users, without necessary authorizations. Read our Copyright Tips for more information.
■We encourage free speech and defend everyone's right to express unpopular points of view. But we don't permit hate speech (speech which attacks or demeans a group based on race or ethnic origin, religion, disability, gender, age, veteran status, and sexual orientation/gender identity).
■Things like predatory behavior, stalking, threats, harassment, intimidation, invading privacy, revealing other people’s personal information, and inciting others to commit violent acts or to violate the Terms of Use are taken very seriously. Anyone caught doing these things may be permanently banned from YouTube.
■Everyone hates spam. Don’t create misleading descriptions, tags, titles or thumbnails in order to increase views. It's not okay to post large amounts of untargeted, unwanted or repetitive content, including comments and private messages."
this can be found
here.
While Porongraphy is banned adult materal is allowed infact youtube even has a flagging system for such materal which can be found
here.
Material that is flagged as being adult you have to be over 18 and logged in to watch. True in order to be over 18 all you have to do is put in a date of birth (with no checks in place) to make that claim but at least its slightly better than the standard check box found in a lot of adult sites.
Youtube is a mainstream website that has a wide range of people that use its site. but young children isn't one of them.
youtube has rules such as "Children under 13 years are not permitted to access YouTube."
you can find info on this
here.
I do agree that many children even under the age of 13 do use youtube and a lot of the material found there is safe for them to watch but like most of the Internet it isn't children friendly it isn't really for children to view and should only be done with parental supervision.
sorry for the slight rant but wanted to clear that up with youtube as its a common misconception with the site due to its success and being more mainstream. I also agree that any producers who are posting material should have it always flagged appropriately so that it can't be accidently viewed by children.
Ok now onto the main point of the thread well I can say its the double edge of things like youtube and do feel sorry for you but once you get ownership of the clip sorted out with youtube if your still feeling angry, you could consult with a good lawyer as it might be possible for you to take further action in this matter against the one who made the claim against you.
But also try and not let them get to you, have your moment of anger try to direct your venting, then move on. They are really not worth it and you know your company must be doing something right if they have to do these tactics against you. (unless of course its an angry customer)
