I follow the Dodgers spring training games, but only to see which players they are trying out. I used to travel to Vero Beach every year, but their facility now in Glendale, Arizona, is much worse with respect to accessibility for fans.

That's cool though you used to go. I feel like spring training and keeping up to date with the games helps you know the teams a little better after the offseason moves too. Obviously the obvious ones you always know like Soto to the Mets but sometimes you don't know who went where or forget by the time the season starts.

The three great things about Vero Beach were:
1. The players, when not training or playing, often mingled with the fans.
2. Almost everybody there in March was a Dodger fan.
3. Almost everybody there in March wanted to talk about baseball.

Did you get autographs?

I swear Mils when I'm older if I retire I'd consider if not moving from NY at least spending January and February in Florida.

Yes, I got dozens of autographs. (Some are irreplaceable, from players who have since died.)

If you do that, then you will be what my parents used to call "a sun bird." That is what they called residents of our town in New Jersey who would go to Florida every year for two or three of the cold months.

I've been called worse things than sun bird so I'll take that.
They had a hot stove Yankees show last night on Yes. Made me crave spring training.

That is the purpose of YES network during the off season, to stir up excitement for the coming MLB season. I just watch mp4 files of the 2024 World Series to get excited these past few months. 😛

Once the Superbowl ends Mils I'm fully with you...I already found a way to watch all the Yankees spring training games on their Yes app. Me watching spring training? I used to not even watch regular season games much for years.

Hard to believe. But then I will think full baseball!

It's becoming mine too Mils especially since the Jets are never good.
Welcome to February my friend...I like to think that we won't see January again until spring, summer, fall and the holiday season (all superior times of year for me at least).

2025 might be the year of the SSF...got a lot of posts going here lately Mils.

It might be just such a great year. 😀
After a Sunday spent almost entirely with Goddess Shelly :woman:, I am ready to post a lot today. :typerhappy:

It's fun to never run out of posts to reply to...even a year ago or so it was mainly you and me before Kurch started posting a lot too.

Now we also have maniac_tickler who has been posting a lot in the past week.

Has it ever been really busy here?
Yes, in the early days of the SSF there were times when you would be typing the "M" post in an alphabetical thread, and when you posted it you saw that two other people had made an "M" post before you finished typing.
Those were the days when HDS was still a student and sometimes making hundreds of posts per day.

I should have said those were the days when HDS was an undergraduate student. Once he entered medical school, he had not much time to post.

Yeah well medical school is like a full time job and a half!

Exactly why he didn't post much for years while in medical school. I don't know what field of medicine he entered afterward.

Hmm that and law school forget it that's your life.
