Ok just thought I'd trot this out for you after I saw a website talking about games from the old 8 bit Nintendo system.

What's your favorite old school video game?

This can be from a home system or the arcade.

Take a guess

Mortal Kombat II! Ahhh I love that game, I still play it to this day 😀

Double Dragon 3! Video games were so much fun back....then girls and sports came along...and ruined a perfectly good relationship.

Does Starcraft count as old-school yet? lol

Well.....Galaga. Pathetic, yes. But oh, how I love the Space Invaders on crack. 😛

EDIT: I'm adding another I just thought of: Duke Nukem. Gave frag a whole new meaning, despite the fact that the frags were mostly just blobs. 😛

There are a lot of old school classics. Such as the Super Mario Brothers series, the Mortal Kombat series, the Doom series (I haven't had the chance to play Doom 3 yet) 🙁, the Street Fighter 2 series, the Zelda series. So many good games, and with the advantage of emulators and roms, they can still be played 🙂

I guess I'd have to say its Chrono Trigger, but if we are talking about real
OLD SCHOOL, then Pac-Man and Galaga are my choices(and also the Dodge Ball game from NES)

"Wizard of Wor" in the arcades around 1983

also "Berzerk"

Old school from Nintendo???

Mega Man series.

Rygar.

Kid Icarus.

Rygar has been on PS2...and it is ok, could be better.

Yo, Kid Icarus would be the bomb if it could come out for the PS2 system.

Metroid was killer too.

Hey, I loved/hated Wizard of Wor! The C64 version was just great, and scary too.
The warlock/worlok had a really ominous theme song/sound.

Speaking of arcade games... I can't really choose. Gauntlet was great because it was fantasy-themed.
Pacland was nice, well... because it was of the few playable platformers out there.
And I spent a fortune, with a pal of mine, playing Final Fight to the end.

And if we are counting in laser games too... Esh's Aurunmilla. You'll win a cookie if you've ever heard of it.

Dragon warrior. I'd still play it if I got the chance.

Chrono Trigger, my favorite game, is becoming more and more old school by the minute.

I dig all the old school games from my single digits. Pac-man, Frogger, Donkey Kong, Q-Bert, Dig Dug, Berzerk, Zaxxon, Centipede, Burger Time, I could go on forever. I'm also heavily into the Street Fighter series. It depresses me that my high school tenure is now regarded as "back in the day". That's age for you.

I also like a couple games I've only seen in one place and then never again. Has anyone ever heard of Lock n Chase or Golly Ghost?

my favs were Battletoads for NES (i really digged the music too)

Sonic 1 for Sega (i cried when i won and freed all the critters)

and starfox for SNES (looove the music, and awesome gameplay)

atari and others were way before my time.

NES = Super Mario Brothers 3 and Magician

SNES = Final Fantasy III ("I am Cyan, retainer to the King of Doma. I am your worst nightmare..." -Cyan) (Best RPG scene... EVER.)

N64 = Perfect Dark

Playstation 1 = Final Fantasy VII and Tekken 3

Old School PC = Star Wars: Dark Forces II - Jedi Knight (For its time, the whole "deflecting laser blasts with your lightsaber in first-person OR third-person mode" was just friggin AWESOME...)

Old-School Arcade = Mortal Kombat II

OldER-School Arcade = Star Wars (the ancient one with the black and white line graphics. OMG did I rock the house at that thing...)

OldEST-School Arcade = Mrs. Pac-Man

I love video games... 😀

good call mayday. the hollywood brother loved almost all of the old atari 2600 games. you did not need hours to get through the game but you spent hours until you had pac man fever anyway

Sonic the hedgehog was superb! But does it still count as old school because there are new sonic the hedgehog games still coming out?

But if it is an old school game then YIPPEKIYAAAAAAAAY!

Old Schoolin it...

NES: Super Mario Brothers, Legend of Zelda

SNES: Zelda A Link to the Past (kickass game!), Super Mario World, Donkey Kong Country

Sega Genesis: Sonic the Hedgehog (god that game was fun!)

Arcade: Spy Hunter, Gauntlet, Ms. Pacman

PlayStation: the first Resident Evil

Ah yes, and Atari: Joust

Arcade: Pole Position. One the original version I could finish the course in first place, compltereing all 4 (or was it 5) laps and get the checkered flag!

Home system? heck, I'm old enough to remember wehnthe original PONG came out....

Has anyone ever seen two drunk people play Bubble Bobble? It's pretty funny.

I was in my mid teens during the coin-op video game craze of the early 80s. I played them all, but despite the many hours I spent in the dark, neon-lit caverns of the arcades, I never got very good at any of them. My favorites were Tempest, Frogger, DigDug, and Burgertime.
