Favorite Old School Video Game??

Okay, I just logged on for this topic. I'm a total videobrain and have been since age 7 when I played my first game. I have so many favorites even I can't keep up with them all so, I'll say what ever imediatly comes to mind. Hmm... Double Dragon (arcade). Back in '87 I used to have to stand in line to play that game. Oh, the nostalgia... Oh, beloved eighties how I miss the! I was playing Sidearms (another arcade fav) on MAME last night just for the heck of it and anyone who knows video games knows that the arcade version is almost always harder than any port but, for some unkown reason I was really whooping up on it last night! I got all the way to the 5th stage in one piece! I even hit 614,700 before having to continue! I guess all that time I spent on the TG16 version really payed off! I so love video gaming! And vg emulation is just beautiful!!

Zombies Ate My Neighbors!! I have that game, I think.

Also have had that. The Sega Megadrive version (that's called Sega Genesis in the US, if I ain't mistaken) called "Zombies!". It was friggin' hard saving all ten victims (if not impossible for some levels, especially those annoying tourists turning to werewolves). It was also weird how you could kill with a water pistol (with holy water or something, yeah right :weird: 🙂 ). Those really were the days.

My top 3 video games of ALL TIME, in no particular order, are as follows:

Breath Of Fire 2, Final Fantasy IV(II in america), and Final Fantasy VI(III in america)

And Super nintendo is my favorite system. Oldschool games are the BEST!

Oh man, this thread brings back memories. Favourite old school game... hmmm... I'd have to say the old Gold Box D&D games for the computer. Eye of the Beholder, Curse of the Azure Bonds, Pool of Radiance, etc.

I liked the Ninja Turtles' games for NES and SNES. Ya know I like it how I go into Funcoland back in the day and they tell me my Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt game is worth a penny. I hate it when they give you like a buck for your stuff and then turn around and sell it for 5.

Funcoland's prices are absolutely ridiculous. Last time I checked, they were selling Chrono Trigger for like 70 bucks

Hmm... maybe a few more indepth per system:

NES - Final Fantasy, Super Mario 3, Dragon Warrior I, Ninja Gaiden, Double Dragon I-II

SNES - Final Fantasy IV (II), Terranigma, Super Mario World (last Mario game I've played too :/), Final Fantasy V (III -- I like II a *lot* better), Chrono Trigger, Ogre Battle

PS (old school?? hardly, imo) - Xenogears (ranks my favourite game of all time, just beating out Planescape: Torment for PC), FF VII, FFVIII, Star Ocean 2, Tactics Ogre (beats out FFT)

PC (old school ones) - Gold Box D&D games (as stated earlier), Raptor, the whole Wizardry series, various BBS games (Trade Wars 2002, Usurper, etc.)

My favourite old-school game is Mike Tyson's Punch-Out! in the NES. I never thought a boxing game could be so much fun and addictive, have cool characters and last for so much time. A game I still play this days.

Ahh, let's see... My fav old schools are:

Warcraft II, Discworld 1, Moonstone, Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo(man, someone's a freak with names), Settlers 1, Knights of Xentar, Betrayal at Krondor, Albion, Centurion, Panzer General, etc., etc. These are all legends, and I BLOODY LOVE'EM!!!!

Oooh, yes, Betrayal at Krondor, how could I forget that. ;[ Knights of Xentar was funny as hell. Very good gameplay too.
