Favorite Old School Video Game??

FINAL FANTASY THREE AND CHRONO TRIGGER AND EARTHBOUND RULE ALL!

in my odd, unrealistic, and probably wrong opinion... ^_^

I have to go with Chrono Trigger, I must have played that game over 20 times already(sadly not exagerating). Just a masterpiece, I mean, a snes game with over 13 different endings, you gotta give it credit, it has a great story, plus the best villain/later on possible ally in history: take a wild guess, yep Janus(or Magus as he is known in most part of the game).

Super Mario Brothers shall be and forever be the most earthshaking oldschooll videogame, OF ALL TIME!!!!!

(panting)
Ok, just got caught up in the moment.

HMMMmmmmmmmmmmmmm. I already posted in this, but I think I'll post again! Breath of Fire 2 is the first RPG I've ever played and liked (meaning, I played Dragon Warrior, and Final Fantasy and stuff for NES, but they sucked badly in my opinion, even back the) and got me hooked on RPGs. I've played almost nothing but RPGs since then. So yay. Such a great game. 😀

Golden Axe, Rolling Thunder, Samurai Showdown II.

Two games but their names are just lost...there was this game where you killed all these weird monsters by chucking a spicky shield at them. If you took too long, this giant black demon head came and chased you down.

And there was also this ninja game where you could die just by trying to cross a street with a lot of traffic.

My favorite (for now) is the Lunar series. There are two games in the series: Lunar: The Silver Star, and Lunar 2: Eternal Blue. Its an RPG series that was made originally for the Sega CD in the early to mid 90s. Definitely a classic.

The Legend of Zelda

&

Zelda 2: The Adventure of Link

some of the greatest games ever

Spy Hunter. Peter Gunn! I try playing Spy Hunter on Shockwave's site and I suck tremendously.

The remake from a few years ago wasn't bad either.

Yay for Lunar!

You know, while I played Lunar: Silver Star Story for Sega CD, I found the remake for the Playstation to be better. The changes that were made were amazing, in my opinion -- and Noriyuke Iwadare even did completely new music for it!

However, I wish they would've put the same kind of effort into Eternal Blue -- though I guess it wasn't needed quite so much. I would prefer to play the Sega CD version. There wasn't really all that much change in the remake; biggest change being that random battles were done away with.

Well, whatever. Back in the day they were the best games ever, and still today they are two of the best. 😀 I wonder if they will EVER come out with a third one...

probably not.

And I'm done. 🙂

Yeah, I never did play the remake of the second one, but from what I've seen its really sweet, for an old game. I'm glad to hear they've kept almost everything intact however and only improved the sequel, not change it entirely.

My first step in the Lunar games was actually from playing Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete. I didn't play Lunar: The Silver Star until years later. The soundtrack CD that came with SSSC is excellent.

I think I'm going to have to go on eBay and see if I can find Lunar: Eternal Blue Complete to complement the set. I never played that one either.

As for old school games again, recently I came across MP3s from the Batman movie game on the NES; needless to say I was firing it up and remembering how much I suck at this game. Never ever ever ever beat it.

One of my favorites, and I think some of you guys will remember (especially you guys that are around my age), is the old handheld Mattel Electronic Football game. With the little red dots as the players! I'd play that thing for hours!!

That brings back some memories, WK. When I was still in Thailand (1980 or so?), we somehow acquired one of those Mattel electronic games, which was passed around from one person to another and played continously until it finally broke. I would love to have one of those all to myself 🙂

Those were great. They actually re-released them a year or so ago and we got the baseball one for my son for Christmas...oh the memories.....

i personally have allows loved the super mario classic games and of course mario kart. Its actually very wierd that I found this thread because just found out that one of the guys that I work with was at one point the world nintendo champion. I forget what year he earn that title but he won by beating the entire super mario game (I) in like 98 seconds.

It's all about the pac man 🙂
Just the other day I was out at my local best buy searching for a new computer, when low and behold, I find a pile of xbox "demo" disks with a label by them that said "FREE!". Now, I was a bit skeptical, but then I took a closer look, and it had MS PAC MAN ON IT! 😀 I grabbed it and asked a worker if it was true they were free, and he said yes. Happily, even forgetting why I was there, I rushed out with my new Ms Pac Man disk....for Xbox

I later found out you can download arcade games onto it using Xbox Live :weird: tons of old school stuff.

Yeah, I believe WalMart was selling them. I had a brother-in-law pick one up for me. Do you know if they stopped selling 'em or are they still around? I haven't checked lately.
If they still are, maybe I have a birthday idea for Mistress Valerie. 🙂

😀 HAHA, I like tha title...and only, what, 9 months old? 😛

Well, since its revived, I'll say...wait, how far is old school supposed to be? (N64?) 😉

Ah what the hell.....heres a zip file with 3 different Nintendo Emulators and over 700 games to go with them, including some "hacked roms", basically games that have been altered by someone who knows programming.....not all of them work the best but my fav is "A Moblins Tale" thats a hack of Legend Of Zelda where Link has been replaced by a Moblin as the main character....
