Final Fantasy

FFXIII took a while for me to begin liking it, and I'm on Chapter 11 too. I really had no clue what was going on at first, either. A couple of hours in the game I just opened up that data log and tried to make sense of the story, which actually helped, but I feel it's rather obnoxious that I had to do that. Aside from XIII, I'd have to say 6 and 9 are my favorites (except the last bit of 9's story sucked). I hope FF15 goes back more to it's roots and has the standard chess-style combat.

Well I was hoping XV would go back to the traditonal style but Squarenix said that XIII would be the last traditonal one. They are making a huge mistake if that's true

That's disappointing, especially considering XIII is hardly traditional :-(

I know you say your lazy but don't you want that satisfaction of feeling like you accomplished something be finishing them

Oh of course I would love to finish one. That's why I started playing 10 again a few months back, and I managed to at least get loads further than i did before. But then I started taking classes again and those are more important. I almost finished 8...but then my memory card got corrupted and I lost everything, lol. I still have the game so I'm sure I'll try again one day, as well as with 9.

I just think the "online" experience for Final Fantasy just isn't the way they should go. Your true fans just don't like that, at least I dont

I beta-tested FF11 and it really pissed me off. WoW was a little better, but I still like being able to play whenever I want without having to hunt down a party or deal with idiots. As Gabe from Penny Arcade once said: "the worst part about online games is you have to play them with other people."

I played WoW for years. I just hated the fact that you could spend hours on it and sometimes get very little done. With FF, hours played equal things done

That too. The idea of an MMORPG is that there really is no ending, whereas with FF you have the main storyline but can always go back and hit all the side quests and challenge bosses.

i think i've played all of them but only beat a few.... playing 13 now @ first i didnt like it but now im hooked

It gets better once you get down to Pulse and feel like you can do a bit of exploring. Everyone forgets that 10 was pretty linear till you got to the Calm Lands toward the latter end of the game.

Well I'm just glad 13 finally came out after waiting so long. Anyone heard if versus 13 was coming out soon?

No release date set yet even for Japan. It's supposed to be one of the most dark Final Fantasies, so hopefully it'll be better than 13.

I've been gaming for well over 20 years. In all that time, my #1 favorite video game of all time is Final Fantasy VI: AKA Final Fantasy Kefka. No one video game I've ever played has been as enjoyable as that one, and I've played through many many times.

Doesn't it take place in the same world as 13?

"Final Fantasy Versus XIII is, according to its developers, a wholly independent story unfolding with different characters and a different visual design. Although it is set within the same Final Fantasy XIII universe, it is unrelated to any other entry within the compilation and is thus neither a sequel nor a prequel to any other entries in Fabula Nova Crystallis: Final Fantasy XIII."

So I'm not sure if it takes place in the same world or different world or what, just the same universe. If it is the same world, it has to be either centuries in the past or future as FFXIII, since Pulse is uninhabited by humans for a few centuries, and it definitely couldn't be Cocoon.

I've played all of the final fantasy's with the exception of XI (and yes...that includes X-2 *shiver*) and I must say VI and IX are still my favorites. Playing XIII now and enjoying it...finding it odd that there really isn't a town system or whatever in it...then again I'm only on disk 2

They weren't kidding when they said it'll take 50 hours to beat. I just finally beat it. Now on to the side quests XD

Took me about 58 hours to beat, not doing all of the quests. The developers stated that they didn't include an exploration/town system because the characters are fugitives and it wouldn't fit. Doesn't make sense being that the only thing that identifies them as l'Cie are the brands, which can be easily covered. Still, pretty decent game with great graphics and CG.

I'm in Chapter 13 right now, just kinda dicking around on Gran Pulse and I'm at 50 hours almost exactly. I'll probably finish the story and then resume my quest to Platinum this bad boy... or buy God of War 3... Or both.

I'm around 70+ hours into the game right now and only need about 5 or 6 more trophies (and of course there all the hardest one's lol) and I thought the game was really good. I gotta say that FFXII is still my favorite though. It would've been nice to see what this game would've been like if it had stayed exclusive to the PS3, I know I read that they had to leave out a lot of stuff so that the game could be on the 360 without being 4 or 5 discs.

XII is your favorite? Huh... to each his own. I'm at 60ish hours now, finished the story and am now just taking down the marks. Have about half of them finished right now, so I'm simultaneously working on that dumbass trophy for holding every weapon and accessory. Gotta say, this game is keeping me here, that's for sure.
