Got one for you. I have a friend who's married and we meet almost every day when she comes to pick up her son from the day care located in my building. I think she's incredible and beautiful.

We took a walk to the store the other day instead of going straight to her car. Her son wanted to be carried on the way back so she did. (I would have but I don't know just how comfortable her son is with me at this point). Halfway back to her car she complained that her feet hurt. Trust me, I've seen them. They're just as beautiful as she is. I wanted so bad to tell her that I'd give her a foot massage when we got back to her car but I chickened out and just said "I'm sorry. Here, jump in my arms and I'll carry you." Of course we both laughed but that's as far as it went.

It's the married thing. If she hadn't been married I would have suggested the foot massage right away.

Opinions? Anyone?

Well, I think you did the right thing. It was the gentlemanly thing to do, as it shows you respect her and her position as a wife you respect her son, you respect the husband, and of course you respect the family these three make up and you wouldn't want to ever disrupt this in any way.

I wouldn't suggest getting any closer to her than you already are, nor would I suggest going out of your way for her or giving her special treatment, unless this is something you would do for everyone.

Don't get attached.

Just take this as a passing experience and don't linger on "what ifs". Live in the present. This is actually very trivial and fleeting, and if you accept it as such random situations that present themselves like this will have no effect on you and they won't concern you as much. You'll be able to let them pass without questioning what you should have done.
