Hulk movie? BIG SMASH!

I hated the TV Batman, it pissed me off to watch it as a kid (of course I watched it in re-runs).

The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen was disappointing.
The CGI on Mr Hyde was very cool but other than that, the story had holes and the action was average.

I loved the HULK movie (since there is so much hate for the movie) and they are making a 2nd one, already confirmed.
Of course, I'll be there opening night.

The TV Hulk was so cool to me as a kid. A buddy of mine let me watch the DVD he got, and I didn't realize how much I loved it as a kid but not as an adult. I was like... wow.. I liked this?
Don't get me wrong, still part of my memories as my childhood hero (Lou Ferrigino). I got to meet him twice. Damn he's still so huge.

That's kind of funny DK, because I find I appreciate the series in a different way now. As a kid I just wanted to skip all the plot and get to the metamorphosis stage. I couldn't give an arse about the rest of it. Now I find myself appreciating the stories more. The Incredible Hulk bears more than a passing resemblance to Quantum Leap in that way.

As far as a sequel

Universal has just commisioned a script, but I doubt it will go any farther than that. It only jsut made it's money back, and that is not enough for Universal to make a sequel. This happens with every film. There are reports right after Godzilla opened that there was definately a sequel in the works but Sony wont touch that again with a 200 foot pole. Sony commisioned the original writers to write 3 scripts for it for three planned sequels right after the first weekend. Again, no sequel in sight. This is common when a film has a big first week opening. They wait till they see reviews from people and how it does with it's domestic release and around the world. Star Trek 2 was origianly supposed to be an ABC TV movie as Paramount didn't want to spend the money for a threatrical release as, although Star Trek 1 did well in the theater, people where upset cause it was a letdown. And it almost stayed a TV movie till they looked at the script and said it was too good for TV. Dragon Heart was supposed to be a theatrical sequel, but universal opted to do a "for video only" sequel as it woudl be vastly cheaper to produce. It had a great opening day, but Universal knew they would lose money on a sequel if they did a theatrical release. The fact is most movie studios announce that a sequel is in the works after a movie has a good openening weekend, and they even hire writers to pen scripts, but alot of them jsut dont get made it the movie is reviled as much as THE HULK was in the theaters. If there ever is a sequel, I can see it as a shot on 24p HDTV for dvd release only. That is IF they decide to make it. I just dont see that happening with this property, no matter what is said by the actors.

On a side note, do to all the Hulk merchandise bought, it covered a good chunk of cash, enough to do a sequel. And the movie Internationally was able to go over what it cost, easily.
I don't know if Ang Lee will direct the sequel but really... you can't keep the Green guy down for long....

The sad thing is, there probably will be one. Hopefully Ang Lee will have died in a horribly accidental, violently sucessfull, very sad, accidentally cutting off of his head while combing his hair, before it gets off the ground. Without that useless bastard doing the job, it might just stand a chance. Doubtful though.......
