He died in 2007 so it couldn't have been recent if it was a new story.
His most famous short story is Harrison Bergeron which was made into a movie.
He was one of my favorite scifi authors.
New question: Have you read any of Isaac Asimov's books?

The short story i read featured characters that lived under a totalitarian government that handicapped people if they were above average in certain ways. People who were athletic had to wear weights on their legs and attractive people had to wear masks and you couldnt really speak your mind. Something to that effect. I forget the title tho.

I have not read anything by Asimov tho.

Yes, the story that you read was Harrison Bergeron. The short story was better than the movie version, by the way. 😀
