Is Governess Palin Ready To Lead?

I was liking her after her convention speech, but everything she's done and said and been revealed to have done and said since then has been a disappointing and speedy and calamitous fall from grace. I'm beginning to think getting picked by McCain this year was the worst thing that could have happened to her career--had she been left a little longer to get her shit together and develop some skills and awareness, she might have become an impressive political force, and might eventually have risen to the presidency on her own. Now, having been thrust into the global spotlight when she's so clearly incapable of the job, she's shot herself in the foot so many times she has a huge deficit to overcome in pursuing her future career.

oh god...palin as president. that'd be the worst thing ever for this country

Never mind the second chair .Much better question: is a lightweight like OBama who never ran so much as a lemonaid stand ready to be President? Yeah right

Well, Obama has actually handled his responsibilities over the course of his career pretty well, including some substantive work as a legislator. Now, legislators don't generally transition into the Oval Office, granted, because the skills one needs as a successful legislator are different from those one needs to campaign for president. But this year legislators are all we have to choose from, so that's a moot point.

I think the rap on Palin is not so much that she hasn't done anything but that the things she has done, she's apparently not done very well, and/or she's demonstrated a ready willingness to lie about them. Plus she really doesn't seem to be either as informed, as curious, or as bright as Obama (or McCain).

It could happen...

I'll just say this... if the Republican ticket goes through (however unlikely), Sarah Palin would a fine supporter as a VP and, if necessary, would be an adequate President. Yes, that is right, I said adequate, not good. She has enough experience running one of the two far-flung states that she could do the job. (And I am a resident of that far-flung state) Executive power is executive power, even if it is for a state of less than 750K, and she did well with Alaska in the brief time she was in charge.

Would our foreign policy suffer in the meantime? Perhaps. But that only depends on what and when happened to McCain and why he would have to be replaced (again, if elected), which seems to be the first part in the whole 'replacement' argument.

So, really, my question is this: Would everyone be comfortable with President Biden?

This sums it up nicely :super_hap

Yeah, I think so. He lacks the charisma to attain the office electorally on his own, but if thrust into it he's got an unglamorous hard-core competence and a depth of knowledge that would serve him well. We've certainly done much much worse.
