Odd questions thread

It was a fistfight in the stands during a football game at my high school. One student was taken to the emergency room with a broken jaw.

When was the last time you were in a physical fight with someone?
 
I was in one in school but I was just defending myself. I don't like fighting.
Do you like crowded places or do they bother you?
 
Crowded places bother me, especially if I don't know anybody in the crowd.

When was the last time that you rode on a subway?
 
Probably 10 years ago (only once).
Would you rather take the train or plane?
 
The train. I hate airports.

What was your worst experience with an airplane flight?
 
It got cancelled and I had to wait for hours. I hate waiting which is why I drive 99% of the time myself.
When's the last time you were in a car accident?
 
My first and last major accident was in 1968 when somebody went through a red light and smashed into the left rear fender of my almost new Mustang. They then drove off rapidly and got away with the hit-and-run. The police took my report but the DA wasn't interested because I wasn't hurt. Damage to the Mustang was expensive, it required a new left rear fender, a new trunk, and a new rear bumper. It was covered by insurance, less the deductible.

How much would you be willing to spend when you next buy a new car?
 
A very long time ago. I believe it was in 1982.

What is the highest score you ever got in bowling?
 
Probably like 175 lol. Never broke 200.
Do you have a smartphone or an Iphone?
 
I have an android smartphone, a Samsung Galaxy.

What is the longest time you have been without your phone in 2023?
 
Probably a few hours I left it somewhere and forgot where it was.
How was your first week of the year?
 
It was quite good in that I had a pleasant out-of-town trip.

Do you plan on any trips after spring arrives?
 
Not as of yet but we'll see.
What's the best thing about January?
 
When I was working, I thought that the best thing was the 3-day holiday weekend due to MLK Day.

When will it snow again this winter?
 
I am sad to say it will snow on Tuesday (but I hope they are wrong).
Is there anything worse than looking at your weather app and seeing freezing cold temps all week long next week?
 
What is worse is if it actually happens.
My weather app just says snow showers Tuesday morning, no real accumulation.

Do you like to work from home?
 
No I dislike working from home.
Do you like quiet people?
 
I like quiet people except if I am alone with one. I am also a quiet person, so conversation is difficult with just two of us.

Who is the person who talks the most at your family gatherings?
 
My brother who lives in San Diego (when he's here he is the most outgoing).
Do you remember hearing MLK's speech? I heard it in grammar school as my teachers replayed it. Always found it fascinating.
 
Yes, I was 13 when he made that speech. I heard it both live and again in class in junior high school.
It was very inspiring to me then and it is still inspiring.

Have you heard any inspiring speeches by politicians or other leaders in this century?
 
Sadly no lol. But maybe that's because I am skeptical about most politicians so even if one gives a great speech I know they don't really mean half of what they say.
Would you rather go to Florida or Arizona for spring training?
 
I would rather go to Florida because the Dodgers' spring training complex there was much more fan friendly.

If you had to leave NY, then what state would you most like to live in?
 
Realistically Connecticut because it's local and my best friend lives there. I would choose a warmer climate if I didn't have my family/friends here though.
What's the coldest temperature you ever want to see?
 
60°F is the coldest I would like to see.
-27°F is the coldest that I have seen, in 1977 in Chicago. :shivering:

With average humidity, what is the warmest temperature that you find comfortable?
