Odd questions thread

I never bought comic books (only baseball cards and some football cards). I have one uncle though who collected them well into adulthood. And has thousands and thousands in his collection.
When's the last time you had to wait on a long line?
 
Yes, it gives me plenty of posts to respond to.
What's your favorite kind of soda?
 
Ice cream soda 😛
Of ordinary sodas, Diet Pepsi.

Did you ever skip dinner and just had a huge dessert instead?
 
Yes we used to go to Friendly's as kids and eat a giant ice cream for dinner.
What's the best kind of non-chocolate candy?
 
Chicken.
What's the one thing you like most about February?
 
That is it shorter than all the other months (even in a leap year).

Why is it that we have to pay a full month's rent (or make a full month's mortgage payment) in February when it is a short month?
 
Probably because if we fight that they'll say rent is charged based off of 30 day months and now charge extra for the 31 day months. 🙂
What's your favorite color?
 
Brown I never liked it.
What's your least favorite flavor of ice cream?
 
Of common flavors, strawberry. Of strange flavors, bubblegum.

What is the most ice cream you have ever eaten at one sitting?
 
Hmm I think the most I ate at once was probably a pint (ice cream headache sets in).
Would you rather have cake or ice cream for dessert?
 
ice cream over cake (if both not chocolate or if both chocolate)
chocolate cake over non-chocolate ice cream

Do somebody usually make you a birthday cake on your birthday?
 
No they usually buy one.
What was the point of us learning the quadratic formula in school?
 
If you were not planning to go into engineering or another quantitative field, then there was no point in learning it. It was just mental gymnastics.

Did you know that math majors in the 21st century make the same complaint about learning how to solve differential equations? (Because software packages can also solve them.)
 
Yes, I kind of knew/figured with everything being on computers now that people don't want to learn stuff. Google knows all lol.
What's the most useful thing you learned in school?
 
The most useful thing that I learned was to think clearly and spot fallacies in other people's speech and writing. This was emphasized in my 9th grade English class where the teacher just added to the lessons on her own.

When did you learn to type without looking at the keyboard and who taught you?
 
I learned from my high school class I had to take typing. Ironically I felt it difficult at first and now I type faster/more accurate than most people do (people at work always comment on it).
What's the most boring SSF thread?
 
Chrisheaven made an ampersand thread (yes, a thread devoted to the punctuation &&&), and, IMO, that was the most boring.

Before the Hangman thread was revived, what was your favorite thread on the SSF?
