The big day arrives.......

I awoke at the usual time and zombied down to breakfast. Excitement was in the air with everyone anticipating the Big Party. We spent the next hours talking with late arrivals and making sure everyone had a ride to the event. Most had lunch at the hotel, where the kitchen again did a fine job in preparing the meals and the staff made sure we had everything we needed. And of course no one mentioned the war. I did once but I think i got away with it. At around 12:30 we headed toward the party venue.
 
For those new that are going, or thinking of going, I would suggest dressing casual. Comfort and fun is the theme for the day. And have your identification ready at the door or you'll get a gentle reminder from LeeAlure like I did. And there is ample parking. (Just leave a little extra room for Ticklejen)
 
I'd like to take this time to mention the wonderful work from the NEST Team and the manager of the party venue. They did a lot of work to prepare the place and it was clean, spotless, and and comfortable. The NEST Team really put forth a lot of effort!

Now there is not much I am free to reveal about the party itself. I can however say that what you may have read in other threads about NEST is true. RChello did have a pole climbing contest with Schoolgirl Lisa. (She beat him like a borrowed mule and I lost five bucks). Milagros won the big door prize, and that tale he related in a short story posted in the Stories Section. He was a happy man that day! TklDuoDrew and Ann are a very close couple. That was evident when Drew reluctantly let Ann go to the store for a few forgotten items.And yes. Max Speer, who's idea this was in the beginning, emceed the contest between the Brotherhood and the Sisterhood. And what a contest that was!

And it was over........

After the party most went back to the hotel and lingered around the lobby while others got in groups and headed for nearby restaurants. Others had early flights to catch so they went up to their rooms. When I got down to the dining area the next morning Bugman was already gone. Pokey and I had breakfast and made our comparisons of the weekend. Then talk led to going home. The night before there were already some tears shed about leaving wonderful new friends. It kind of hit me hard to think about it. So after breakfast I shook Pokey's hand and we went our separate ways. I felt regret and a bitterness about myself as I was driving home for not staying a little longer. I can take the smiles but not the tears. I didn't want to say goodbye. The weekend now seemed too short and I wanted it to last longer. I cheated myself out of those feelings by not facing them. I won't cheat myself this time.

So this is the end of my narrative. I hope this light hearted depiction of my part of the whole story will encourage those who are new and thinking of going to do so. It is not the playing that makes this event great. It is the people you meet. The people attending make this event great.

If you go don't worry. Bugman and I won't tell a soul about anything funny that happens to you.
The NEST Team will get us if we did.

I remember NEST '07. By the time I landed early Friday morning I was starving, so the first thing I did was eat breakfast in the hotel lobby. Then I went and crashed for some much-needed rest. When I woke up, I grabbed a quick bath before going downstairs to join the fun... 😀
 
I managed to get a picture of Mils without him knowing it,and here it is.😛
 
One night I wondered about some funny warning signs in the hotel corridors. When checking with the indeed very helpful hotel staff I learned, they decided to put them up as soon as they realized, Kered was leaving the lobby, trying to find his room 😀

I remember that minerva took frequent smoke breaks outside the hotel.😛

Minerva drove several of us to the club in her rental car.😛
 
Some have written me about my experiences and wanted to know more. Please understand that I am not able to divulge all because of privacy issues and NEST rules.
I can say that I really do wish I had been at SchoolGirl Lisa's wedding. Minerva can't attend this year so we won't be able to see her tickle Venray. A few I would like to meet are Robace, who has to stay home and look after his two young girls.....Fatima, who can't make it because of work......and Helena who has had a series of unfortunate events. These people will be sorely missed.
