Its all in where you shop. There are some great deals passing by and people are unaware of them.

Yes, while its true that $100 or whatever sizable ammount is alot to spend at once, consider what I've said and that you'd be spending the same ammount and more anyways.

More bang for your buck, so to speak. It doesn't make an incredible difference in price, but I've often seen that it covers shipping and handling charges or actually leaves room to buy something else thats not as expensive.

Its really about playing the North American market (in regards to the anime industry in this case) and learning its restoration/inflation periods and using that to your advantage.

And as far as not being able to afford it, alot of people say that because they don't budget themselves well and many live beyond their means to begin with. The average person can afford alot more than they think they can when they spend in moderation. How you manage and save your money is very important, obviously.

It's true that it is a very expensive series, but I have to say that it's well worth the price. I got the set last Christmas, and I've read it twice since, and am planning on starting it a third time any day now. It's a very long series, which is definately a good thing here, but it's so worth it.
A spin-off would be nice - possibly one that gives Motoko her own mini-series. It'd be interesting to learn more about her.

I've read it some 11 times through. Never get tired of it. Although I've already said that. 😀

Yeah, every character is good enough to have their own side story or mini-series practically. I could imagine Mutsumi as a business woman in a fancy suit whose some manager or president of a business or coroporation. but some of her employees think she's a total goof ball and yet she strikes it rich it by some happy fate of chance or she walks right into a multi-million dollar project just by answering the phone. "Ara ara!" *picks up the phone* "Hello?" :happy:

"Is this Ms. Otohime, president and CEO of (insert company name)"

"This is she. ^__^"- Mutsumi

"Have we got an offer for you!"

*minutes later in the employee lounge*

"Listen up everybody, I just put all our assets into Neko Neko Plushie industries!"- Mutsumi

*all the employees are dumbfounded and can't believe she'd do such a thing*

"But maddam President!"

"Now now, don't worry. Things will work out. ^_______^ They're cute little plushies!"- Mutsumi

".......................! *employees faint*

*within the following month they're all stinking rich!*

LOL, that would be funny. I should make a short manga about that. ^^

11 times has to be a world record, but I can fully understand why you've read it that much. 🙂

As for that mini-series, I agree (I can totally imagine Mutsumi doing exactly what you said - even the images come naturally)! You should definately write a fanga about one or more of the characters. Only problem really would be finding the time, as I'd imagine that it would be fairly time-consuming.

11 times a world record? I somehow highly doubt that. Theres some japanese fan out there thats got me beat. I'm sure of it. Or maybe it will be ironic, and its an american who holds the title. 😛

Yeah, it would be time consuming. But when something is a labor of love its neither impossible or as much a hardship. 🙂
