[RPGMk XP]Kusuguru Project

Love the game so far! I've run in to a little problem, however... It worked fine for me the other day, but now the only button that seems to respond in-game is 'C'. So talking to people is fine, and the combat works! But I can't bring up the menu! Can't use Z, X, anything else.

I had that same problem when I first started playing ToG and LoL. Make sure your Num Lock key is turned off; for whatever reason, it interferes with the cancel/menu buttons.

Alright, now that I've gotten some decent time with the game, I'm gonna give a mini-review on the current translation of the game. Considering this might be spoiler-riffic only to those who haven't played a bit of the game, you'll need to highlight the text to read it. 🙂

Animewatcher101's mini-review for Screamer

Right from the start, I felt a lot more went into KP than LO - a story that you dove right into that had some sense behind it and characters with more personality. Not gonna lie, I spoke out loud what the doc said with a really slow, tired sounding voice and happily amused myself. A girl who is given a mission that goes horribly wrong (space and time/teleportation can easily screw up :stickout).

There were actually questions answered that made Kusuguru more believable and subjects brought up that I would've asked, particularly the "Where are the men" (which was left unanswered aside from "What's a man?" - hilarious :lol) and the demonstration as to why tickling is used rather than pain. Excellent job!

Alice is a GREAT main character. I really like her personality more than Lala, even though Lala seemed more intelligent and less ditzy. Yet, it also feels more like Alice is bi-curious or more accepting/into lesbian scenarios than Lala (whenever a lesbian-like scene was made by my choice, it felt out of place compared to how Lala acted normally and seemed to really not be interested in girls like that). OMG I just wanna pinch Alice's cheeks; she is adorable!

I love leveling! The old fashioned RPG leveling system is a nice step, letting people grind out levels to try and surpass challenges.

There is a tutorial given for many aspects of the game (this was a huge step up from LO and something a LOT of people will appreciate). I've gone through scripted fights several times to see and weigh if the item I'd get is worth the loss of the essence reward. There are also some random enemies that drop items! WOO! Glad I don't have to buy so many healing supplies.

The world is indeed huge and I LOVE IT! I've gone into every corner that I could to see if there are any quests, and I've found a couple - but mostly stuff that won't let me go in or nothing is available because I haven't reached that part of the story yet.

Not really as much tickling as I thought it would be, but that's ok because I haven't even gotten through half the game yet. I like having more story instead of mindless "Kootchie koo" and "OHAHAEHEHLOLOL". Helps keep me interested and makes me look forward to encountering a tickle scene.

Quality over quantity - enough said; good job!

Oh and - Game Over tickle scenes! I was surprised to encounter one of these! I didn't expect to see them in here and I LOVED THEM!

Enemy Codex! LOVE IT! I actually discovered a random encounter I defeated has a 1% chance to drop a health item. I wouldn't have known this after defeating several and not getting anything, as I'd just have kept grinding on them. I like the short detail on each one too; not really helpful, but still nice to see.

Of course, there are some negatives too-

First, minor negative that I hope doesn't get encountered again, is a design flaw. When you first start the game and there is that room right above that has the maid, the beds, and the girl changing in the corner? It is only big enough for ONE CHARACTER! And since the maid paces between the beds slowly, I had to wait for her to get out of the way so I could talk to the girl.
Then, I had to wait for her to get far enough so I could dash around her before she walked back and blocked off the entrance between the beds!

So - design flaw - NPC's that pace, even if none of them are important, need to have at least 1 space around them so you don't have to wait for them to move. Well- unless we can push them, which we can't here, then I could've pushed her big butt out of the way lol.

Another flaw which is more major deals with battles, particularly the random encounters. Their difficulty doesn't seem to scale for where they are (except for Sleepyheads, which seem right). The essence reward and exp rewards seem way too close and a little too low for how one fight can almost kill you unless you use an expensive health potion. There needs to be more balancing in either enemy power or reward.

Another thing is the enemy placement on the map. Around the first town, there are "easy" monsters you encounter. But when you move the story to just the next part, which isn't that far, the whole left and lower side of the map on top of the wall is full of monsters that DO NOT belong there!
Sprites are ok, because you'll eventually be able to have enough agility to come back and get them (unless, by then, they give no reward worth it - then, I'm not sure what their purpose is).
But WOW! The Illusionist is a little too strong for having such a strong poison and lots of health.
Of course, Illusionists are NOTHING compared to the Gunslinger and Purress. Both of these I feel shouldn't even be here, or else they should appear a LOT less or need to have their stats balanced.
Gunslingers aren't so bad - you can run from them; but if you choose to fight you will LOSE quickly with their 40+ damage attacks! That is INSANE! That's practically 7/8 of your life right there!
Purress is even worse! You have about a 25% chance for Alice being unable to run, and Purress - from what I've seen - is immune to any tickling and deals significant damage with her "Skill+" attacks. 3 attacks and you're guaranteed a game over, but if you choose to run right at the start there is a good chance she'll keep you there and deal a nice hit in before you run again (IF you get away - I once was lucky enough to being unable to run and lost the fight without making a single attack)

This next negative is just my opinion - That waitress should TOTALLY have gotten it in the inn lol. Sure felt like I'd have gotten the chance too. Oh well.

So to summarize:

PROS-

  • Excellent story so far
  • Tutorials
  • Topics brought up that help make sense of the game's world
  • Characters have unique and enjoyable personalities
  • ALICE!
  • Tickle scenes are worth more since they appear less
  • RPG leveling system/exp grind
  • Certain monsters drop useable items
  • HUGE world
  • Game Over tickle scenes on certain bosses/scripted monsters
  • Useful Enemy Codex
  • Encountering the Reaper monster (for obvious reasons :stickout)

CONS-

  • NPC's that walk around should always have 1 space around them at all times
  • Random encounter enemies have awkward exp/KE rewards for their difficulty, particularly with how pricey even the lowest healing items are
  • Illusionist, Gunslinger, and Purress need to be moved to new places or rebalanced for their place in the game, so they aren't new player "insta-killers". Either that, or they need to appear SIGNIFICANTLY less than they do now. 😛issed
(honestly, I wish these girls were bosses now, so I could torture them later in the Boss Punishment Zone after getting so many Game Overs with them)
  • That waitress! lol

Love the game so far Screamer. I think you've got another hit on your hands!

I agree that I had a frustrating time with that NPC as well; though I don't necessarily believe all NPCs should have one open tile around them at all times, I do believe that one in particular should have had faster movement. I also fully agree to the EXP/KE rewards for battles; the harder ones don't really have any more benefits than fighting the easier enemies.

However, that said, I do like the inclusion of some nigh-impossible enemies (Purress, mostly) that you fight while wandering around; to me, it gives the game some sort of realism, as well as anticipation on what you'll encounter next. "PleasenoPurressPleasenoPurressPleaseno-" *Encounter Purress* "FFFFFF-"

I'm not saying all NPC's need 1 tile around them, but those that are in cramped areas, that have a path they walk, and there is something else you can interact with on the other side of them need to have that spacing.

Nigh-impossible is fine, I can deal with that. It's like a Tonberry in FF games - you either ran from it because it could totally F over your party, or you took a gamble and tried to burn it down before it could take out your party members. The problem is that unlike the 3 enemies I mentioned above, Tonberries were rare encounters.

The other problem is that Purress, Illusionist, and Gunslinger are ALL in the same spawning area. Even more, they are the ONLY spawns in that area aside from maybe a Sprite. You usually walk around that area, based on the story, around level 5 - 8. The Illusionist will be a lucky fight depending on if she misses/you resist her spells. She is killable, but a hard battle for a simple random encounter. The Gunslinger and Purress on the other hand feel more like lvl 20+ fights, with the Gunslinger destroying you in 2 turns with a 30 - 45 damage Feathered Bullet (you will NOT be able to down her in that time) and Purress just using you as a plaything.

Purress appears to immune to all your attacks. At least the Gunslinger can be damaged (and in comparison, Tonberries can be damaged), which makes Purress the completely unwinnable fight. You either run from her and get away, run from her and she takes a nice dent in your HP before you get away, or run from her and she just keeps tickling you until you die. She also is just too common of an encounter for an unwinnable, as I get her on average every 3rd fight.

Huh...wait... unwinnable fight... :scared WOAH! Maybe Purress is the Impossible Boss! It all makes sense now lol. But seriously, if these guys are meant for when you come back and check on that abandoned house, they really need to reside only around that house. They've got too large of a spawning range.

Thanks for your review Anime!I really appreciate your feedback!
I know that certain enemies are quite difficult, but they're my 'plot guardians' ^^
Regarding the one tile step with the nurse, it's a little trial....how many of you were curious
to speak with the girl in the changing room?
Ah....and Happy New Year!

Ps. No, Puress it's not the secret boss....

I'd just like to repeat what i've said before, please don't post spoilers for thoes of us who are waiting for the full translation to be finished. If you really want to anyway, there's a simple trick you can use. Change the color of your text to white after you've typed what you want to say, and then thoes who waht to read it just have to highlight the text to reveal it.

Here's an example:

*SPOILER*
This is where you'd put in the information you're wanting to share.
*SPOILER*

Then to read the "blank area" you just click and drag to highlight it.

Then again, the easiest way for thoes of us who don't want any spoilers to avoid such is just not read them. :/

Considering this was labeled as a review, and the first few lines that most people read before it's too late to stop consist of my opinions on how nice the story looks, I think it was safe to say this was going to talk about things in the game and gave full warning. The first lines of the post even mentioned what the rest of the post was going to be, instead of just jumping straight into the review.

Still, for your sake Viper, I've SPOILERFIED my post :stickout

The game works fine for me. Thank you for your help, and thank you for the translation.

Guys...
This forum just hit me with a blackhole exploit kit virus a few hours ago. AVG blocked it but i nearly lost my pc if I hadn't had it. I'm using my phone right now and i'm not getting back on here until it has been confirmed the exploit trojan has been removed from this board. Someone please inform the admin if they do not know this yet

Yea, the same virus tried to hit my comp too. Avast! stopped it thankfully. Did you lose your progress on the translation?

Everything seems to be in order now, the site was down for a while but I never got a virus from trying to see if it was up. Everything seems to be fixed at the moment though, haven't had a problem yet.

Edit: I also have Avast! but I have the notifications turned off, so I suppose Avast! took care of the virus for me XD

I haven't made progress for 2-3 days (was at a friend's place) but everything's fine.
I didn't know about the virus until I came back on this board. Nasty surprise.

There's a reason why people would hack this site and I think you all know why.

Yeppers, everything is all hunky dory now. I never got a warning or a message, though my PC is hunkered down with anti-virus tools and my browsers are protected out the rear. I think it was ScriptNo that prevented the virus from being activated in the first place. Had to go through subforums to get into the site though; and it was dead for the most part as people were too afraid to visit or didn't know other ways in.

Unless it did get activated and MSE never saw it... Hrm... but my computer has been fine aside from me finally figuring out the proper way to overclock the damn thing. Well, and that STUPID POS TuneUp Utilities program that wouldn't let itself be removed from my comp.

And nope, can't think of why someone would want to hack this site, Xtreme, except for high traffic/high damage or hatred to those with tickle fetishes. `,` Just having an oblivious moment mayhaps.

I never got any warnings, so I'm guessing NoScript blocked it without issue. Still, time to run the anti-virus scan.

Exactly. Fetish haters. That and this forum gets thousands of members online. That's why they usually target forums. To spread this virus faster. And they know that odds are at least one unprotected individual will get infected.

TMF will have to be on alert for any attacks over there.

Well i'm glad everything's alright and you didn't lose any progress on the translation.

I played the game for a bit (up until you're told to head south) when I suddenly ran into a frustrating bug. My character perpetually tries to walk down, and my down arrow key no longer works in the menu. I've tried starting a new game, redownloading the game and extracting over my files, and extracting to a new location but nothing seems to work. I'm inclined to believe something about my hardware isn't playing nice with this game, but it worked fine in the beginning. Does anyone have any experience with this type of bug?

is that y i was unable to access TT for a few days? i kept gettin this weird message and i couldn't log on. but i also use a mac so it didn't appear to affect me in light of the fact that everyone thinks it is a virus. i'm still gonna run a scan though, just because it's not affecting my comp doesn't mean it's not lying dormant somewhere and i have a windows bootcamp partition that i would prefer to keep alive.

If you can't find C:\Windows\Fonts, say so. If you can, try paying attention to when people help you, or you'll be dismissed as ineducable.

Right click this link: Russell_Square_LT, choose "save as," and make sure to save it in C:\Windows\Fonts.

Currently translating a buying house scene.

Our heroine ladies and gentleman, protecting the people and ripping off house sellers.
I guess protecting them from punishment and torture doesn't count. Seriously she was about to walk away even after hearing what might happen to the seller.

I've been noticing Alice is being kind of an unsympathetic douche at times in this game this scene included (not counting the school, it was justified). Though not much that she's unlikeable.

Potential minor spoilers ^
