Several Reported Dead in CT School Shooting

Thoughts and prayers go out to all the families affected by this horrible, senseless tragedy. As the parent of three and husband to an elementary school teacher, I can't imagine what would make someone go into a situation where innocent children would be in peril.

It's unbelievable. I've been watching the news all afternoon, and I marvel at the way they try to explain the reasoning of this "extremely troubled young man."

The guy was evil, pure and simple.

You're right, he was evil. You'd have to be sick, extremely sick, to be able to do this. But at least if you try to figure out and explain his reasoning you have a chance at preventing some of these incidents from occuring. You could just say he was evil and leave it at that. But if you figure out why he was evil or what made him so angry you can stop the next person before they do something like this. The man obviously had issues of his own and I'm not making excuses. There's never an excuse for anything like this. But at least if we figure out what was going on in his head and the heads of people like him maybe we can make the world a safer place.

Hey if someone over the age of 18 decides that they don't wanna' live anymore

I am opening a can of worms here, but insanity does not start at age 18 and up. Remember, Dylan Bennet Klebold? He was one of the two shooters during the Columbine Massacre, he was 17 years-old. Violence is perpetuated by your rage, and not your age!

This entire tragedy just breaks my heart. It's bad enough when you hear about this kind of thing happening in high schools around the country, but who in the living hell shoots up an elementary school? It's beyond any sort of rational explanation. There are just certain things that you do not do in this life... hurting children being at the top of the list. Every child deserves the right to grow up and, sadly, these little angels will never get that chance.

The coward even shot himself. No forgiveness, I hope he rots in hell.

The most horrible part was seeing all of the children crying over their deceased friends. It was so sad to hear them describe that. They will never forget that.

You missed the point.

Eighteen is the age of personal adult responsibility.....ready or not!

Once that person is 18 years of age, it is presumed that he/she will be responsible for future behavior. That is why minors are generally not considered responsible for what they do, parents get stuck with cleaning up their crap. As a parent of two, I had to go through it twice.......wasn't pretty either time.

If the person is 18 or over and decides that they don't want to live anymore (for whatever reason, sane or insane) that's their choice. Do I agree with that choice? Of course not! However, if they really want to go, then go.......just don't take any unwilling folks with you. It's the ultimate act of cowardice IMHO!

Is has been said that the shooter was Autistic. As a parent of an adult Autistic, I can see this happening on certain levels. I have no sympathy for him nor do make any excuses; but I can understand how it ended up happening in an elementary school. That might have been his mental age depending upon the severity of his Autism. Case in point, my son is chronologically 27 but has a mental age of about 14. There are times he borders genius, and times I scratch my head wondering how he managed to get himself in certain types of trouble.......then I have to remember his mental/maturity age.

I cannot ever see my son blowing me away then going to his former elementary school and blowing away 26 people......not at all. But although my son is immature on many levels, he has enough presence of mind to know if he uses violence to solve a problem, this ain't tv, he'll suffer the most dire of consequences and he knows he's not jail material!

As immature and irresponsible he can be at times (and trust me, he can give me a run for my money), I'm so glad that he wouldn't stoop to such lows. If a 20 year old is that sick, he belonged in an assisted living facility at the very least, or institutionalized.

Something went terribly wrong here and we'll probably never know everything about it. Sad and tragic.:rose: :blackrose:

I can't watch the news, it's just too depressing. Everytime I read about it I begin to cry. 20 children and 6 adults...all innocent too. Their is no excuse, Adam Lanza was crazy and had access to guns. This shouldn't have happened.

My husband cried at this one, and it takes a lot to make this man cry. He doesn't even know what to tell his kids on Monday if they ask him.

Shit like this Really Pisses me off. Because Idiots like this just have No Regard For Human life.

I get it, you're going through some Problems, and you're Upset, but those people had nothing to do with what was going on with You.

And for People like this who take out their Problems on People like this: Man to Hell with You 😡

Don't take that Shit out on Innocent People.

If you're really gonna go out a Kill Innocent People that had nothing to do with your Issues, to get some attention, and to leave your stamp on the World, please just Kill yourself. Write a little Suicide Note and Blow your Fucking Brains Out.

I would rather you get some Help, talk to someone and try to work everything out Peacefully because I really don't want anybody to Die. But if you are gonna go and Kill Innocent People, most of them Children who had nothing to do with whatever you're going through, and had their whole Lives ahead of them, just Kill yourself First.

I shouldn't have to Worry about someone busting in my Classroom Door and Killing everyone inside.

I shouldn't have to worry about my Little Sister going to School, wondering of She's gonna come back home Alive. I can't even Imagine that Feeling for the Parents and Siblings of the Victims. I'm Blessed because I get to Hug Her. But some Parents and Siblings in Connecticut won't get that Blessing, because of some Selfish Fucking Idiot.

I know some people might not Agree with my Statements and that Fine, these are just my Honest Opinions.

Very sickening.

My thoughts and prayers are with the victim's families.

Well, it is pointless for me to offer a rebuttal at this time. I see your point, and my opinion is quite different. But, this thread is not the right place for a debate.

26 less Americans, how is that a bad thing?

You are a fucking asshole. THEY WERE KIDS YOU INCONSIDERATE FUCKTARD!!!!!!

Goddamn what an complete dick you are. How in the hell can you not consider innocent children being murdered a bad thing?

You can go rot in the darkest bloodiest piss pool of hell right next to the murderer.
