songs from the 70s

Todd Rundgren, one of my favorites. Saw him back in the 70s, on the same bill with Robin Trower and Jethro Tull. What a show. Didn't know he's still touring.

And Neil Young, an artist I always wanted to see and never got the chance.

Ringo had Todd, Steve Lukather{Toto}, Richard Page{Mister Mister} and Gregg Rolie{Santana}, I loved it! That would have been an awesome show. I know a guy who saw Tull in Montreal back in the 70's on the Passion Play tour, he said it was the best concert he had ever seen. I got to seen Neil when I was 17, he was amazing! I bought a shirt and still have it, it's never been worn lol

That show is in my personal top five. Incredible.

Hah, I saw the Stones in 1981, in the Astrodome. I bought a T-shirt and it's still in my closet. Never wore it either. Funny thing about that show. Maybe Mick and the boys just had an off night, but ZZ Top opened for them and blew the Stones out of the Dome.

Dad took me to Rock Fest in 99, I was too young to appreciate it as much as I would now. Kansas and ZZ Top closed the show on Sunday. ZZ Top were amazing! It was kinda sad that Kerry Livgren wasn't with Kansas anymore, although they did sound great. I didn't get to see the Stones, I was sick when they were here and had to give my ticket away :sowrong:

Does anyone know what a three dog night is besides me? 🙂

I liked the Blue Oyster stuff before these more, but that's just me.

And, totally unrelated.....interesting how this thread has more pages than the 80's thread. Not that there are more tunes in the 70's than the 80's. Maybe us old fogies just have more of a base to draw from?

Well, for me rock music started a slide into mediocrity around 1975 (with some notable exceptions) and in the late '70s- early '80s I found myself moving more and more into jazz, blues, bluegrass, folk music and classic country. I had at least sampled all those genres but they assumed an increasingly larger role in my musical tastes by then.

Since you bring in Nazareth, let me bring in a much lesser-known Irish band - Horslips

Thought I'd posted these but a search for Thin Lizzy didn't turn up anything. A terribly underrated 70s band in my opinion.

In memory of Leon Russell. 1942-2016. RIP. 🙁

Since this thread has been resurrected might as well toss this one in.

Hey, I don't mind. 😉

In memory of J. Geils Band founder John Geils who passed away last month at 71. RIP.
