songs from the 70s

Another southern rock group - Atlanta Rhythm Section. I'm partial to this one cuz Doraville's a hop skip and a jump from the house.

Bugman-
You mentioned the Stones.... What about Deep Purple, and this icon? (tried to find a live version....)

A classic. :thumbsup:

Want it live you say?

ba ba ba ba ba badda ba ba da..... yeh baby!

The Allman Brothers.

Whipping Post was on their 1969 debut album, but it does just as well here.

From 1970, imo, an underappreciated classic. I love how this has gospel-tinged background vocals, sung by an R&B legend, and overall really a country song.

Keep 'em coming.....we'll eventually get them all.....

The Guess Who - Star Baby {1973}

The Guess Who - Glamour Boy {1973} Inspired by David Bowie

The Guess Who - Sour Suite {1972}

Never heard Slade's original before now. I'm still partial to the remake by whozimawutzit, but hey, someone had to write it. Would link "runaway", but I think that's the 80's (that danged chameleon).

An obscure 70's band, Pavlov's Dog. Saw them live once when they opened for Bob Segar.

I always loved "Do You Feel Like We Do". The guitar work was exceptional. 😀

8 pages in and nothing from Tull and The Who? That won't work.

Haven't looked back to see if this was posted, but if it was..it deserves to be posted again.

Bawwstun....or however the accent goes... yeh, I think that one was posted, but who the hell cares..... that first album was the bomb...dynamite...purty danged good. I really like foreplay/longtime (the songs on the albums, gals......)

I'm addicted to this thread. Can't help myself.

Carly Simon. Had a huge crush on Carly back then.

An obvious choice. 😉

Bugman, back in the day I think a lot of guys had a crush on Carly (I admit to it)

Oh hell yeah. Carly and Donna Summer, Linda Ronstadt, a lot of beauties from the 70's. The good old days.

Ha!!! As a kid, I was practically traumatized by "Are You Ticklish?", I could not believe there was such a song in existence.....and it was made even worse by the back cover of that album ("Playing Possum"). Years ago, someone asked Carly on her website about this song and if SHE was ticklish, and she had a great answer:

On Carly Simon's website, she answers a very important question concerning her 1975 song, "Are You Ticklish".

Are You Ticklish?

Carly,
I love your song "Are You Ticklish?" I would love to know it's deeper meaning. Also, are YOU? Crydun-Ohio

CARLY: Extremely. Lots of nerve endings responding on high voltage energy. Very ticklish. I think of course it's also another meaning for 'sensitive', and possibly amused by my attentions. Love Carly - 1/30/03
