Ahhh....don't get me started on Palpatine. Ian McDiarmid is going to put on an awesome performance that people will probably cheer, whether you like Palpatine or hate him. He actually has a physically assertive role in this final installement which really rounds up his character excellently.
We really just knew him as this withered old man who can talk the talk and walk the walk but not really do much but show his dominance in the Force. Showing the films in the order that Lucas did was good for all the characters, especially Palpatine, since we always wondered just how powerful he was and how he made his Empire happen. I mean, we heard the stories, but as far as what he personally did was another matter.
In the first one, episode I, we get to see his intellect, his clever and coy side, his speaking ability and his charisma.
In episode II, we get to see his resolve, commitment, and insidious nature, much more so than in episode I. He's the seemingly perfect leader.
And of course, in episode III we see the fruits of his labor finally come to bare, and he himself becomes physically agressive to ensure this happens. We finally see what the Dark Lord of the Sith is truely capable of, when he was still in his prime and not aged terribly by the Force and raveged by episode VI.
Just like people wanted to see what Master Yoda could do, so to, perhaps even more so, do people want to see what Palpatine can do.
Aside from his displays of the Force, I'm more interested in his saber fighting style. I'd imagine its a lot like Dooku's. Very accurate, precise, refined, classy and more like fencing and point defense as opposed to a flurry of combos and lounges, etc.
I see Palpatine's style as a mixture of Mace Windus' and Dooku's. I could be wrong, but this style of fighting just seems right for him, as in combat, it allows him to be cold and calculating and to show is superior skills, personality and the refined nature of his style reflects perfectly his mastery of the Force.
