Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (full preview trailer)

Ahhh....don't get me started on Palpatine. Ian McDiarmid is going to put on an awesome performance that people will probably cheer, whether you like Palpatine or hate him. He actually has a physically assertive role in this final installement which really rounds up his character excellently.

We really just knew him as this withered old man who can talk the talk and walk the walk but not really do much but show his dominance in the Force. Showing the films in the order that Lucas did was good for all the characters, especially Palpatine, since we always wondered just how powerful he was and how he made his Empire happen. I mean, we heard the stories, but as far as what he personally did was another matter.

In the first one, episode I, we get to see his intellect, his clever and coy side, his speaking ability and his charisma.

In episode II, we get to see his resolve, commitment, and insidious nature, much more so than in episode I. He's the seemingly perfect leader.

And of course, in episode III we see the fruits of his labor finally come to bare, and he himself becomes physically agressive to ensure this happens. We finally see what the Dark Lord of the Sith is truely capable of, when he was still in his prime and not aged terribly by the Force and raveged by episode VI.

Just like people wanted to see what Master Yoda could do, so to, perhaps even more so, do people want to see what Palpatine can do.

Aside from his displays of the Force, I'm more interested in his saber fighting style. I'd imagine its a lot like Dooku's. Very accurate, precise, refined, classy and more like fencing and point defense as opposed to a flurry of combos and lounges, etc.

I see Palpatine's style as a mixture of Mace Windus' and Dooku's. I could be wrong, but this style of fighting just seems right for him, as in combat, it allows him to be cold and calculating and to show is superior skills, personality and the refined nature of his style reflects perfectly his mastery of the Force.

It Rocks!

god, i can't wait for may 19, and for people to shut up about the Darth Sidious/Palpatine debate.

You mean as in whether or not they're the same person? If thats what you mean then I agree. I don't see how anyone would want to believe that they are two different people.

"well, there were two different character profiles in the character book, one for Darth Sidious and one for Emperor Palpatine, so they're two different people!"

Thats silly and not much of an excuse. First of all, just because there are two different discriptions for what seems like two different characters doesn't make it so. They probably did that to maintain the secrecy of Palpatine's true identity as a Sith even though we, the audiance already know who he is in foresight.

To be a sith is to be a darth, to be a darth is to be a sith. Theres no two ways about it. Theres also only ONE dark lord, and it's Palpatine. Thats the one constant through the entire Star Wars saga. There is no other Sith Master. He is the only one.

I wouldn't be surprized if Chancellor Palpatine, Emperor Palpatine and Darth Sidious each had their own seperate profile, even though they're the same person. He deserves three different ones because each role was grand.

He wouldn't be a believable character if he was some sort of imposter, or a mere clone of Sidious, or any number of the rumors they have which have nothing to back them up.

While its true Palpatine will come to use clones in Dark Empire, etc., there was no need for them now.

The only thing they say that makes any ammount of sense is that Palpatine is a clone of Darth Sidious and that Sidious is the one who did this, in order to ensure his safety and security.

But I don't think this is true either, simply because a clone isn't as genuine as the original person it was cloned from. I don't think that if Palpatine were a clone that he would have performed as well as he did. But then again it's Palpatine we're talking about, not Jango Fett, who was only copied to grow soldiers.

Plus, it really hurts the believability and evilness of the character if he's not the same person playing all of these roles. You need only ONE master villian in an epic like this, and Palpatine, in all his guises, fills out that role.

Theres no need for a clone.

LOL, yeah, I heard that one too, and there was a short comic someone made for that.

I remember when I was in highschool, my friends and I joked about this a few times, and I did the impressions to make it funny.

"Vader's breathing difficulties seem to have an oppressive influence on his thinking and general disposition. This is particularly evident in the forms of aggression that he inflicts on those who frustrate him. Men who evoke the Dark Lord's ire often die in suffocation and extreme fear, reflecting Vader's own helplessness under his permanent affliction."

EDIT:

"It seems most likely that he only takes nourishment while unmasked in the privacy and safety of his medical chamber. We can assume that his chambers also provide facilities to deal with the other end of his alimentary process."

LOL! Can you imagine Vader on the can? Thats a bizarre, yet funny thought. Sort of like Palpatine being on the can and having a bowel movement while foreseeing future events.

Its not hard to think of with the good guy characters, but these evil tyrannts aren't thought of as human in this way alot of the time, as if it's assumed that they forego the call of nature! LOL! 😀

And if they do...no wonder they're so upset! LOL! 😀

I will avoid the cheap laugh to be gotten by making jokes about the Emperor on his throne, and say that as a biological necessity of purging toxic material from the body, it would only be natural that Lord Vader would need special facilities to deal with even this most basic function of a living organism.

If someone want i record it with m palm zire 😀 bad quality but is better than nothing 😀

Seriously though, this link is very realistic and provides a true medical approach to Vader's physical condition. I'd suggest everyone whose interested should read it. You may learn something you didn't know before.

It would be really good if in the movie they show some of the medical treatment and operation and surgery and machine implants. That will make us go through this with him in a more personal way, since he is human.

I think that if it cuts from his crawling out of the pit/being saved by Palpatine, and then shows him already in the suit and strapped to the table then that would really underplay it all.

Darth Vader was quite literally born during the fall into the pit, the crawling out of it, and the aftermath of his injuries and being operated on.

I doubt Lucas will show too much blood or gore though, even with a PG-13 rating. It would be interested to see though. Its very key.

I will not spoil things for you story-wise as you are obviously looking forward greatly to seeing the movie...but I have seen production pics of Hayden Christensen (spelling?) in some heavy burn makeup and it is not for the weak of heart.

Well, things like that are not a spoiler, so don't worry about it. Thats good to hear though. Its important that they played this up as well as possible.

i refuse to watch anything more than basic trailers. I want to walk in with a clean slate.

Me too.

Well, it seems they're airing the teaser trailer regularly on telivision now. Its winding down people, May 19th is not far from now.

Tip:

Buy advanced tickets as soon as they become available. I managed to watch the last two films the day they premiered, and I want to complete this by watching this one on the first showing as well. Actually waiting in the line is part of the experience and theres always been someone to talk to which makes the time go by like nothing. If you're smart, you won't wait to start waiting in line. Its better to get there as early as possible, so that when they let you in you can be assured a good seat.

I prefer the top ones, all the way in the back. Its the best view in the theater and theres no one to get in the way of your viewing the screen and you aren't surrounded by people's noise whether it's on purpose or because of the movie.

If this doesn't pan out, you can always watch it later with less crowds and a guranteed good seat.

But this has become a tradition for me of sorts, and theres that energy in the air, even during the previews for the other movies. Like the Super Bowl, Star Wars is going to be a good time slot for other promos to be released. I'm sure those involved were fighting over the rights for that air time specifically.

Mmmm...Star Wars Episode 3. Yummy.

I'd love to see it on opening day...but I just don't like big crowds. I'll just wait till it dies down a little. That will probably take a month, but that's okay 😛

Ideally thats what people should do, but I if I want to maintain the streak the viewing streak I'm not afforded that luxury.

ok...in the novels, After Death Star 1 gets blown up, Palpatine summons the designer to his audience chamber. The guy is immediately encased in a plastic chamber about the size of a phone booth. Vents in the floor open, and hundreds of flesh eating insects emerge and consume the poor soul, but here's the best part...the designer had already been cloned and the clone was forced to watch the grisly execution as a reminder not to fail again.

Best line from the trailer..."Are you threatening me Master Jedi?"

LOL, it would have been better to keep Bevel alive, not the clone. As for the manner of execution, thats weird. Never heard of it being done that way.

When Palpatine personally executes someone he uses Force lighting when he puts his hand to their face. OUCH! And hell keep doing this until they die. And even before this, they usually are heavily beaten by others.

I'm guessing though he might be doing this particular thing in interogations as well as executions.

Yeah, thats my favorite line from the trailer too. It was the first quote I used when I told others about the trailer.

It depends on whose getting executed...don't forget one of Palpatine's original apprentices (not Darth Rage, one of the ohers I think) got slit from nuts to neck with a lightsaber...OUCH.

They're running the long form trailer in the electronics department of Target now. I am normally jaded about the new films, but I am getting a real good vibe off of this new one.

They say that Anakin brings balance to the Force by eventually murdering the Emperor, but I do'nt buy that.I think he brings balance by wiping out the Jedi. The Jedi are too liberal to run a galaxy filled with red tape politics and overpopulation.A firm hand is needed and that is where the Sith come in.
Besides the Sith look a Hell of a lot cooler anyway. The Jedi wear freak'in bathrobes into battle and their council leader talks backwards.

Think of it this way...Qui Gon Jinn tells Anakin that being a Jedi is a hard life, but being a Sith is a hundred times harder. Try and imagine the job description for a Sith Lord.

Job Objective: Conquest of the Universe - Multi-Tasking a plus as hundreds of equally capable individuals will attempt to put an end to your efforts. You are allowed to hire one assistant only.

Not exactly a walk in the park. In fact, if you really look at it, Dantius Palpatine is the *only* Sith to ever actually accomplish the Sith objective.
