Torture scene and aftermath from Kidulthood. Dark, depressing, shocking. Amazingly done.
Prison riot/jailbreak scene from Natural Born Killers. In fact, most of that movie... it's chilling as hell, and is made so that you might think it's realistic; perhaps as seen through the eyes of the psychotic killers it's named after. I could go into so much depth about that film. Heh.
Much of The Last Samurai. Not a widely known film. A few scenes in particular stand out:
- The fight with the bokken in the rain. Serves to indicate Ujio's dislike - possibly even hatred - of Captain Algren and to further distance Algren from the Samurai culture. It's also incredibly sad, like much of the movie.
- The final cavalry charge in the last battle. Just watch it. Words can't describe it. It's one of the few scenes in any movie ever that have brought me close to tears, and I really do not cry easily...
- The last little bit, the last line in the film. While not a scene itself, it is presented so well, and the fade into the credits timed so perfectly... "As for the American Captain, no one knows what became of him. Some say that he died of his wounds. Others, that he returned to his own country. But I like to think he may have at last found some small measure of peace, that we all seek, and few of us ever find."
Gladiator. The end of it. Inspiring, uplifting, but sad.
Yep, I love deeper/sad movies. And plain disturbing ones.
