It's enormously encouraging and pleasing to hear you detail the story's diverging moods! A narrative as lengthy as this one should avoid being too terribly linear, either in tone or plot... it would turn tiresome mighty quickly if it tried (a primary reason I'd prefer it not to live or die by its fetish content... such material is too flimsy to maintain ongoing interest alone). While I don't exactly graph the need for dire or funny moments, homey or bizarre settings, etc., such elements have balanced to my satisfaction thus far. The blessing of a multi-year production schedule (probably the only blessing) is that it allows loads of time to work out plot bugs and concoct a narrative flow that seems smooth. If I had to have this all done by July, the results would be a heck of a lot messier!
