The Low Roads, Chapter 7 (comic: M/F, full body).

Cameo?

And thanks for the compliment ^__^
It was the least i could do after all the work you put in your comics.
Well i should soon be off to Uni to do research on something NON-fun.
Maritan apparitions... ugh.

Second reading proved even more enjoyable than the first! 😀 I found this chapter especially enoyable thanks to the dark setting of the creepy forest and the un-named horrors that lie there in. It struck a cord in and I found myself linking this to the beginning of Lord of the Rings where Frodo and Sam are heading off to Mordor, alone. There is a great sense of companionship between Angie and Mercy. I really like how her character is developing. 😀 😀 😀

Thank you most kindly, Feathers! Another mighty bump! I'm delighted you enjoyed the eerie forest setting! You're definitely onto something in your LOTR allusion... Tolkein's epic masterwork has always been favored fiction for me (I've read the series about a dozen times, tending to repeat the experience on a yearly or so basis): Fangorn Forest was undeniably inspirational in the creation of the Gloominvald, and Frodo/Samwise had to be very much in my mind when concocting the Mercy/Angie companionship! Come to think of it, LBH serves much the same function as Gollum, at least early on... and a later fortress siege will strongly resemble the the orc attack at Helms' Deep! One's paradigms should be as strong as possible.. it's a mistake to ape them too closely, though. I'd desperately like this story to have it's own identity, not simply be Tolkein or Lovecraft lite. That's where personal experience and perspective proves so crucial: the more "you" one puts into one's story, the better for everyone!

Of that, have no fear my friend! 🙂 This epic you are creating comes across as entirely your own work. It was not my intention to imply anything to the contrary, simply to share the feelings your wondrous creation set in me. 😀 😀
