The Low Roads, Chapter 9 (*/F, legs & UB;*/M, full body).

Thank you, Bandito! That's so very nice to hear, especially from a comix master such as yourself! So very satisfying and warming! Will be replying at the TMF too, later today, when I have the time to do all that nice commentary proper justice!

What a treat, this newest chapter! I did not expect it to arrive so soon, but it's fantastic as always, if not better. The feeling of uneasyness is even more present than in previous chapters, truly lovecraftian in style; suggesting the brooding horror that's just lurking behind every corner, but the worst is never visible... (and there's more lovecraft-style Mythos in this story; like the dreamworld, the Chtonian-like monstrosities that tickle the brown guy and let's not forget the terror that lurks in the cellar) Lovecraftian, but given shape in such a way that makes it totally new and original.
The cameo's were fantastic as always, I really enjoyed the conversation scene of those two dream warriors. 🙂 But also the Ceshire Cat scene is a memorable one. The Cat is an almost monstrous appearance, it gave me a feeling like the sooner Mercy and her companion are out of there the better.
It's also great to see how old threads of the story -the fat inventor kid, for example- are reintroduced, deepening the plot yet again. A lot of planning must have gone into the whole project up till now.
Kopfhorer is quite right, I had not thought of it before, but your style has some similarities to that of Moebius (especially his "World of Edena" series), mainly in writing style (a story that starts simple, but as it goes unfolds into something really big and complex) but also graphically and colour-wise.

Again, this was a fantastic episode. It gave me chills. Really.
Thank you for creating! 🙂

BLOODY BRILLIANT!!!! As usual I am impressed beyond words at your knack for story telling and an artistic talent unique only onto you. I gotta say I never perceived my Cheshire Cat character quite so menacing of a persona but I love the way you presented him here nonetheless....BRAVO!!!!

Jolly good show all around! Your cameos were excellent: Chesire and his Cali looked fine indeed! The K-man was a funny one - "Goofball in yon side pocket," eh? 😛 May we see more of the chivalrous one! That nightmare he fought reminds me a bit of David Lynch's interpretation of the Navigators of Dune. I wonder, though, what stirs beneath the floor of the old mill. It worried the coven member well enough ...

Eagerly awaited, and NOT disappointed! The plot is getting more intricate was we go, and it is marvelous. With all the hideous beasties you've created thus far, I'm not even daring to guess what this thing beneath the floor is...

:::joins the others waiting in line for Chap 10:::

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!!!

Ooops.... ahem..... sorry about that. Yeah - probably not.

But it'll rule, whatever it is 😛

Great interpretation/adaptation of the characters of our fellow artists. Another great chapter. Very interesting plot for this chapter. Freaky, in a good way, dream anteater-type creature. Can't wait for chapter 10. :super_hap

What a treat, this newest chapter! I did not expect it to arrive so soon, but it's fantastic as always, if not better.
Thank you, Scav! 😱 You're really spoiling me, and always have done so... such a wealth of detailed, in-depth response! I'm very pleased this chapter appeared to arrive quickly... to me, it seemed to take forever to complete! But the sooner, the better! There's still and awfully long way to go!

Thank you for saying so! The "crawling chaos" at the incantation is the first overt bit of Lovecraftean influence I've attempted to insert into the story, but you're entirely right... his presence has hovered over this series from the beginning! He could hardly help but do so... I've read and doted on the Cthulhu Mythos since late elementary school (I went rather straight-line from Poe to Lovecraft... the dark never really seems empty when you spend time with these guys! XD) I've always felt that he was devilishly difficult to adapt into visual mediums... the Lovecraftean stuff you don't or can't see is always the most potent, the menace most likely to suck you dry.

I'm glad to hear that! I tried to endow this version of Cheshire with a corpulence that was deceptive (sort of like the Spiderman villain, Kingpin, where the mountainous rolls of seeming fat were actually hardened muscle). The sense should be that he could take these girls at any moment he chose; it was simply more fun to pester and play with them!

It's also great to see how old threads of the story -the fat inventor kid, for example- are reintroduced, deepening the plot yet again. A lot of planning must have gone into the whole project up till now.
The story's plot is so immediate in my mind, I often forget that many of these characters haven't been seen by the readers for months! These chapters will definitely play to better effect once the series is complete and everything can be read as an unbroken continuum. On the plus side, the length of production does allow me plenty of time to fix plot details precisely where and how I want them, something that might elude me if I had to work more quickly.

Again, this was a fantastic episode. It gave me chills. Really.
Thank you for creating! 🙂
To receive kudos from such a towering talent as yourself give me chills of my own, everything I'll need to sustain me through Chapter 10 and beyond! Thank you, my friend!

Treasured compliments from one of the community's best-loved talents! Your cameo appearance started life as shadowy and unofficial... I'm so pleased to be able correct that status at last! Menacing this incarnation of Cheshire may be, but joyfully playful and comfortably in command! Mercy and Angie will never forget him! My major regret is that I didn't figure in a larger role for Cali... her graphic lines and attitude were really starting to feel comfortable to my hand; like so many of the forum's classic characters, one can't fully appreciate the beauty of the design until one attempts to replicate it! My already lofty respect ascends several notches further!

As ever, my thanks for your very kind support, HDS! Hey, the Dreamtime demon does look a lot like David Lynch's guild steersman! It's the gas-bag effect, I think! And I'm delighted I could reflect some measure of Kal and Cheshire's unique personas! With such ready inspiration, my creative capabilities needn't be taxed in the slightest! Don't get too comfortable, incidentally... you're own cameo is slated for early Chapter 10!

Eagerly awaited, and NOT disappointed! The plot is getting more intricate was we go, and it is marvelous. With all the hideous beasties you've created thus far, I'm not even daring to guess what this thing beneath the floor is...

Most kind of you, Hawk! My grateful thanks! As you note, I'm mad for tangled plots (which is okay, as long as the readers aren't lost along the way!) I hope indeed that the thing beneath the floorboards will prove a potent horror; and a vaguely familiar one... not for what it is, but for what it has become. Gods, I just love to be obscure! You have my full permission to take aim and fire!

Maybe the Bounce Chix are hiding under the floor!

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!!!

Ooops.... ahem..... sorry about that. Yeah - probably not.

Can't be the Chix! Algathrax wouldn't be turning up his nose... he'd never want to leave the basement! XD None of the rest of the male Coven members, either! And doubtless none of us, either!

Great interpretation/adaptation of the characters of our fellow artists. Another great chapter. Very interesting plot for this chapter. Freaky, in a good way, dream anteater-type creature. Can't wait for chapter 10. :super_hap
Thanks so much, Rajee! :super_hap It's been such a challenge and so much fun to try to adapt the likenesses and characters of so many of our much-loved fellow forum members! A real stretching exercise! And it's given me such a deep appreciation for the level of talent active on these forums... the design-work is so original and so fine!

I'm glad you liked the hapless Dreamtime demon! Without revealing too much, despite appearances, we may not have seen the last of that one...

Another great installment LBH,
What a fantastic in-depth series this is.... it's getting better and better
*****

They just keep getting more and more exciting.... I can't wait to see Robo-Barnaby in action against Mercy.

Great job!

WOW 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀

LBH that is an awesome installment - it may sound a stupid thing to say about a comic but the writer inside of me really loves the language you have applied to this series. It fits the Lovecraft theme so well, and for lurking horrors tickling toes and feather clad fiends...wonderful!!!

AND THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR HONOURING ME BY MAKING REFERENCE TO MY KAT!! 😀 😀 😀 I CANNOT EXPRESS THE GRATITUDE THAT YOU HAVE INSPIRED! THANKEE SOOOO MUCH!!! 😀 😀 😀

Thanks CT! Very kind of you to say so! Though I feel the Katie/Hayley/Chewy adventure will always be a stand-out favorite!

Thank you, Invader GIR! Very pleased your enjoying the story! I haven't worked out all of Barnaby's new abilities yet, but I suspect he'll prove a thorny challenge for Mercy (of course, by that time, Mercy may have developed a few new abilities of her own! 😉 )

Thanks so much, Feathers! Preparing the comix's script is a vitally important part of the process for me (perhaps the single most crucial element), and I'm pleased beyond words that you should find the situations and language so rewarding!

It was great fun and a considerable honor for me to be able to include your characters in this Chapter! Thank you so much for the opportunity! The wealth of cat-girls in this installment (Cali; Mercy; and, of course, The First), each a distinctive design, well indicates the durability of the concept! And let me say that The First's yummy brief bikini, taken without change from one of your comic stories, was a special joy to draw! The rowdy souls in Feathers' underworld really know how to dress with style!

Oh and MINE of course........... really was a Work of Art and funnily entertaining,
Maybe somewhere in the future lies a sequel??? 😉

Btw. I'd just like to say since you draw them so well you have my permission to use them at anytime you feel like it, i don't mind a fellow artist including my creations when they feel the need (lol)

Can't wait for more Low Roads - keep em coming mate

Thanks so much for the latitude! I'll be sure to avail myself of it! Katie and Hayley add zip and flourish (as well as tons of sex appeal!) to any venue in which they happen to appear!

This series is so engaging! I enter it, rather than just read it. It inspires great commentary and really involves the whole community. I suspect it inspires others to turn their private daydreams into projects they can share. Thanks again!

Wow, I'd sure love to believe that's true! That's an awfully nice thing for you to say, Leenotler! And I must agree: the level of commentary on these Low Roads threads has been uniformly high and insightful! The writers deserve the plaudits for that, and it's a great privilege to have benefited from it! Once again, you offer the sort of kind congratulations that make these stories so worth sharing! My profoundest thanks!

an excellent series lbh, keep the good work.
Thank you BFWL! :super_hap I appreciate your support! I've already made healthy progress on script #10, so I'm hoping the wait for the next one won't be very long!

What?!? Another deliciously enticing chapter by littlebighead?!?!? I say, this is quite nice! I find the entrance to Dreamworld quite fine and the banter between the two knights which turns to outright heart on sleeve anger quite amusing. then into the realm of the living once again to view a druidic occult ceremony where the sacrifice is a young man who is crazily carressed by such an alien bogey that I can certainly see it springs forth from a spring such as yours. Add to that, the cameos of earlier characters like the undead character who brandishes the worm that expertly enforced its power upon Mercy's poor piglets in the earlier chapters of this marvelous chronicle; the fat man in the robe; and did I hear the name of Littlebighead mentioned?

Another fine addition to an aleady fine piece of work.
Good night and Good luck.

Thank you, J! No Persephone this time out, but I promise plenty of her in Chapter 10! Plus, Mercy's poor piglets are in for another rough time, I'm afraid! 😉 Glad you enjoyed the returning characters... almost anyone you see is likely to be back at some point! And yes, that does include Little Big Head! I know he's been absent for quite some time; I'm simply awaiting the right moment to re-introduce him! He's gotta be around... without him, Mercy has no prime nemesis!

Thanks so much for the compliments! Also for the luck and the night!

My, um, sole complaint about your otherwise phenomenal postings is that it's kind of a pain in the diodes to download 30 panels, one at a time. Could you possibly post your upcoming chapters as say, a single zip file to allow one-shot downloading?

Yeah, I certainly sympathize! Downloading 25-35 pages individually is a lot of labor! Sure, I'm game, though my computer savvy is lamentably limited; I know zipped files can be submitted, but I'm not sure how to do it myself. I'll read up a bit, see what can be done. If I figure it out, I'll add such files to all the Low Roads chapters.

PS: Try out the zipped files below! If you can download them okay, I believe we're in business!

Yay. Zipped Mercy.
Actually, an un-zipped Mercy might prove more entertaining 😛...... I successfully download one of the zipped files last night, so I'm fairly confident they'll work for everybody. Most likely, I'll create a new thread to post them on... I've been looking for an excuse to centralize all my links anyway, and this provides an excellent opportunity for double-duty use.

Ack Oo; i'm so immensely ashamed of MISSING this one. So i do apologize 😛
Oo; I actually read 10 first. Something was 'wrong' 😛 but i it took me a moment to realize i missed a part.
(beats head against the table)

Well it's a marvelous part. Thanks for the cameo of my oldtime Blackguard ^___^ A very cool armor design you gave him. And closer to some of his incarnations than you might have realized ^^ Many thanks. Loved the way the duo of Knights spoke.
Loved the way you reused the typical Kalamos armor for his cameo. I especially liked the duoshot, the chargepic of Kalamos (quite an impressive shot) and the sideview during the battle.

And off course Feathers... i really liked the impressive way you drew him. Quite evil.

Funniest was Cat... 😛 that really had me chuckling, the way he looked... hilarious. ^^ Quite fluffy too!

The story seems to progress very good. I already read part 10 as i said but the second part of part 9 was far more important plotwise.
Regardless the setup of the leg through the floor 😛 is a fav of mine. Especially in ninja/Resident Evil settings.
I'm quite curious about part 11.
Keep up the good work... i'll keep saving and collecting! ^___^
