My parents were in Florida during 1942 and 1943 while my father was in the army working at a radar base in Miami Beach, checking for German submarines and war planes. In that era before home air conditioning, the summers were a nightmare. 😱

Yes, my mother still complains about it now, 70 year later. 😛
But after that he was sent to fight in the Philippines and wished he were back in Miami Beach. 😱
