This is the latest up on Katherine

Katherine seems to be slowly coming back to us, meaning that she is slowly responding to more things😀 That is the best news I've heard all day long!!!!!!!!🙂 There was more laughter this morning, while a comdey movie was being played 😀
Please keep the prayers coming! She knows that y'all are sending love, and prayers her way. Kandy bless her heart, comes and looks for posts and prints them out for Katherine. When she is alone with Kat she reads them all to her over and over again. And the Get Well greetings, she prints those out too. The voice message that Jeffy has made special for Kat, I think he has made 3 or 4 and she plays those to her too!
I can't thank all of you enough for the out pouring love and support you've shown here for Katherine(slave4tickles) for those who are new here. I know that you are doing out of the goodness of your heart, but just wanted y'all to know it is greatly appreciated! Take care of yourself and each other!

Glad to hear it Tracy! I just had a minute so I thought I'd check this thread to see if there was any more news of Katherine's condition. I continue to mention her in my prayers and I'm glad God has shown His mercy on her (as well as on you and all of her other close friends).

Later today I will try to visit St. Jude's site and post her need to others there.

Please tell Katherine that there are a lot of people who can't wait until she fully recovers, and I'm one of them. We need her cheerful posts to brighten our spirits from time to time. If I was there I'd bring her a stuffed animal to brighten her day. Since that's not possible, this will have to do:

🙂 That is wonderful news! Katherine is on our prayer list at the school, a lot of the kids made her Get Well cards for her. They ask about her all the time. They will be pleased to know she is better.

Sorry that I left in such a hurry. I just got so emotional and well I was crying so this lady next to me came up and started hugging me and telling me everything was gonna be alright, now hush child.
Sweet lady!🙂 But those were tears of joy and I had feelings built up inside of me I couldn't hold it any longer.🙂

It seems with each new day, Kat makes progress. I can't thank each and everyone of you for all your support and most of all your prayers and thoughtfulness! This is a great forum and a wonderful close net family and I am proud to be a part of it!
All the messages were read to Kat from each of you that posted one, the cards that have been sent to me for her were also printed and read. She smiles like an Angel as I read them to her, and tell her Venray and his wife Venraya asks about you everyday, and sends a prayer, Flatfoot, Ticklingduo, QBWeaver, Alex, Primetime, Soleseeker, The Thread, kurchatovium, phfttklr, Venus, bettyBoop, Moses, He-man and God I know that I forget some body 🙁 but I promise you that I printed out each one of the messages that were posted! It means so much, thank you all! For taking the time to post, to say a prayer, thank you for your love!!!!!!

Kandy, sweetie you need to get some rest!

Kandy, I couldn't be happier right now!😀 Today was a big step for Kat's recovery and she is going to need you when she comes to. You will need to be alert and rested! Please take care of yourself! Katherine would be upset to know you are sleeping hardly at all, or eating much🙁
So promise me that you will get a shower and get a good nights rest. Hey, she might be ready to kick box tomorrow! 🙂 Seriously, get some much needed rest sweetie!
I'll see y'all this weekend, God willing! I will be in touch! Give Kat a great big hug and a kiss for me and tell her that I am sooooooo proud of her, to keep it up. Don't quit! Tell her that I love her and she has a butt load of prayers going up for her!

Thanks for the update! Give my best to her folks too, tell them I took care of what we talked about and there is nothing to worry about! Everything is fine now!😀

Too bad Kat doesn't live in Louisiana.....I'd have these new goose feathers I got (from my mom's b/f's friend...he was hunting, got a huge Canadian goose..feathers are long as my forearm) ready to help her feel better....after all, laughter IS the best medicine(well,maybe second best..the way we all care for each other would be the first best, I'd think..lol) , right?

I am thrilled to hear that Katherine is getting out of bed. I will continue to pray for her and you who stand by her. Continue to get lots of rest, combined with exercise as the doctor orders.

Now that she is getting out of bed I have one word of advice. Watch out for those hospital gowns... you know, the ones that are split up the back. The tend to let the breeze into your BVD's!

This is the lastest update 1/31/2003

🙁 Well gosh, I don't know where to start!
As most of you know Kandy didn't not make a post on Katherine's condition yesterday, neither did I.
Katherine's blood pressure had shot up durning the night, they did another MRI and it showed more swelling of the brain. Of course they immediately started different med's on her, to lower her blood pressure and to relieve the swelling.

Kandy and Katherine's folks are a total mess! Their spirits are not good, it's as if they have lost all hope and their faith!

Yesterday, Katherine's Grandmother got the news of Katherine's accident through the grapevine. A neighbor let it slip, they didn't want her to know due to her health problems. She suffered a stroke yesterday, was found and taken to the hospital she is in ICU, she also has a heart condition.
Katherine's folks want to go be with her and yet they don't won't to take the chance of leaving Kat. They are torn, and what I would call they are between a rock and a hard place. So they are staying with Katherine, hoping that they made the right choice. God my heart goes out to them!

And let's not forget Kandy. She isn't handling this very well at all. She has been trying to be such a trooper and be all cheerful and all, trying to get Kat to come around. And now it's as if she has lost all hope, talking about she can't lose Katherine, she needs her. The other day while with them they were talking about Katherine's upcoming birthday. Then they all started crying and we all cuddled in a group. I was trying to help as much as I could. I told them I would get a clown to come and deliver some balloons and just different things that I wanted to do to make this a happy birthday for Katherine. Then they started talking about Katherine growing up.....telling me what kind of personality she had as a baby, her Mama told me that by all rights she should have been stillborn, but she came out screaming and crying so loud! Letting the world know that she was hear! They said that was the best sound that they had ever heard! They told me all about her childhood, how giving she was even as a toddler. Then Kandy joined in and starting telling stories and I must tell you that was a wonderful moment for me sitting there listening to all these cute and funny stories of Katherine growing up. But when I got home ans as I was in bed, I was praying for Kat,Kandy and her folks and Grandmother and it hit me. They were talking about Katherine as if she wasn't here anymore! They are not hopeful any longer! And that is killing me inside! Doctors don't know everything, I talked to Katherine's Mama and told her remember when the doctors told you that Katherine was dead and that you would deliver a stillborn? She said through tears, oh God yes I do. I said well keep that thought close to your heart, because God is not finished with Kahterine by no means!!!!! She has far too much love to give, and she has so many people that she has helped and continues to help. She will beat this! It's gonna take time but she will beat this! I told her she must not lose her faith! Trust in God and to Katherine is young and before this she was in great health, her body was fit and she is going to come back to us!

So please, y'all have been nothing short of wonderful in giving of yourself. Sending prayers out for Katherine and Kandy & her folks! Showing what love is all about! Y'all have gave something that can't be bought!!!!!! Your unconditional love! And to me that is priceless!
I can't tell you how grateful we are for that! How much it is appreciated! We can't thank you enough, somehow a simple thank you doesn't seem fitting! But I assure you we all are very grateful for having such wonderful friends like y'all! Kandy asked me to also say thank you and that she loves y'all!

PS I forgot something important......When they got Katherine up they picked her up! She did not get up and walk, she isn't able to walk at all. And she was on a cot and put in the whirl pool. I for one think that they did too much too soon that day! That's just my humble opinion.

This was the hardest thing, that I've had to post. Hard to type through the tears! I wrote this with a heavy heart, one of the hardest post I've ever had to post.

I can feel in your words how difficult this is on you. Be sure to take care of yourself so you CAN be of help to them. So far, everything I've heard is very normal for head trauma cases. There are ups and downs in the swelling...even in and out of coma. But, remember that a coma can also be the brain's way of telling the rest of the system to hush up long enough for it to heal. All these things are the body fighting to heal itself. It takes a lot when the injuries are so many. Kat has a lot of fight in her. That's obvious. Add to that all the love and support you guys are giving her. She's got a lot going for her.

We'll continue storming the gates for Kat and all involved. In the meantime, if you need to talk, you know where to find me.
