Tickler Porn; The Making Of (New RPG Preview)

File seemed fine this time, I think they're a much better host as of recently anyways. Awesome game so far, though not too far into it. Definitely a unique take on things, and the art definitely has a good style that fits the theme, I think. Quite fun!

Amazing

This game is absolutely amazing! I just had to pause to come back and post on this. I am STILL in tears about the guy asking me if his beard made him look douchey...I just...the tears will not stop. Trying not to just cut and paste the word amazing over and over here. Thank you for making this.

My hope is to make a series of them, one every few months, adding new characters as they go.

Congrats on the grand release, James! Looks like a lot of folk are enjoying your game ^^

Good good. Just keep in mind everyone that just because it's "done" doesn't mean I'm not still looking for suggestions and criticisms. I'd like to make more and have them get better each time so lets hear what you have to say, pro or con.

Five Stars!

Finished my first play through a little while ago and I'm going to do my best not to simply drool all over the page in my review. 😉

For starters, I enjoyed how you set a wonderful pace that was a balance between exposition and action. Diving right into it, I felt the two were easy to understand and relate to, but had their own degree of depth. I found myself giggling and wanting to comfort poor Jackson each time I'd encounter someone that would further paint the...ahem...adventurous guy as a deviant. The art is just amazing and adds a LOT to the over all experience and the style really makes me flash back to No More Heroes, which is just a win for us all. I really enjoyed the spontaneity of the encounters. It made sense to do X at Y time, it was enjoyable and then if the encounter itself weren't reward enough, you got more for the story on top. The sense of accomplishment I had when I finally got Jackson what he wanted was GREAT. And the ending...dat ending...without spoiling it for anyone...it was totally worth it, I was SO happy!

As far as the constructive goes, this was really hard for me to drum up as it is mostly nitpickery. I can basically sum it up as such, it's a new game. Which means not every door will open, not every duck will quack and not every set of stocks will unlock a new encounter...no matter how much I wish it, hehe. I noticed, however, that by reentering and exiting the house after the beach encounter seems to continuously retrigger the event. I'm onto you, though. XP GRIND ACTIVATE!!!!

The major part of my constructive portion I found being a wishlist. A few things I'm looking forward to hopefully partaking in down the road:
- The ability to hone in on different areas to tickle. This one I won't lose sleep over, I trust Jackson will lead us to the greatest areas to tickle in our future.
- The option of crossing the boundary to further sexual tickling. When I saw the hitachi item, I flipped. I will be waiting with baited breath to see more things like the hitachi and the spin it will put on encounters later on.
- Handling encounters as a party...and maybe corresponding pictures to accompany...pretty please?

Looking at what you've bestowed upon us so far, I am confident that anything I could dream up for a wishlist is coming up. I intend to play through the game again tomorrow...and probably a few more times after, hehe. Thank you very much for such a wonderful game! I'm really looking forward to future episodes!!!

A very fun and unique game!
The only thing that makes me a bit sad is that I can't see the lee's willpower, so I don't really know how close or far I am from the end of a session.

Found a possible exploit?

After the beach scene, if you leave and re-enter the beach, the beach scene can be re-done. This lets players farm exp, but not gold.

Applause:
  • Pretty cool character development. Good capturing of the economic downtrodden with little touches like Jackson wishing he could afford the jacket.
  • Fun dialog/descriptors in general. The businesswoman's flavor text was cute.

Improvements I'd like to see:
  • More actual TK scene writing. There are moves with abilities tied to them and stuff, but it doesn't really give as strong of a sense of what's going on as stuff you see in ToG, The Laughing Isle, or Lurker's game.
  • Video replay archive on Jackson's computer? It's thematically tied to what's going on in the game and would let players revisit tk scenes / battles without having to manage a bunch of save files.
  • Ability to see debuff status of the lee (amount of turns remaining and/or stacks of debuffs like "def down.")
  • After a scene ends, maybe wait until player hits space bar to leave the battle dialog/background. This is in case there's a different expression on the lee after it ends, which I couldn't really tell, because it went pretty quick.
  • Maybe run it by a proof-reader? The typos and omitted punctuation don't kill it for me or anything, but they're definitely there.

Alright, all good stuff, everything's noted. Thanks for the advice!

This game is gorgeous.

The "fights" are original and hilarious (the fact that your hit points are actually the resistance of your camera to accidental damage from kicking and trashing is really funny, not to mention the descritpions of certain tickling skills). The use of laughing sound effects during the fights is quite masterful, with just enough variety to avoid tiring the ears of the player, and the art has a very distinct style that really adds to the "punk" flavour of the game. Even tilesets are well used and give you a strange combination of claustrophobic outdoor spaces and big indoor spaces; very creative blend of the Celianna tilesets with the modern ones, by the way.

To me, the two main characters look as real and fleshed out as they could possibly be in such a relatively short chapter of the game. The dialogues are well written and very human; you have chosen, wisely in my opinion, to completely skip most of the mandatory background informations (we don't even know what their actual jobs are) and to focus entirely on their relationship. You kept it very simple, but ultimately I think it payed off well because the player had only so much time and plot length to get to know them; squeezing in too many things could have been distracting, while in this way you managed to portray very well their complicity, their playfulness and love, and that's the only thing that matters (for now).

I also liked this "closed community" feeling that the protagonists had with several marginal characters such as Nicole the shopkeeper girl and so on. Well, usually it was only to remark that your avatar is a huge pervert, but still... it was nice.

I really hope to see the next chapter of this beauty; it has the potential for a wonderful series.

SUGGESTIONS & BUG REPORT

For the next versions and/or chapters, I would suggest some minor improvements:

1) flag wandering rats, cats, dogs and similar events as walkable trough by the protagonist. In the very claustrophobic streets of the city areas these little critters can easily bother you by blocking your path for relatively long times.

2) Many dialogues were activated by proximity and without warning. It's fine in story-driven game, but maybe some of the biggest ones (such as those that ended up in "fights") could have warned you and given you a "proceed/not proceed" option, or if that was inappropriate, at least open your save screen for a quick saving the game.

In this chapter I couldn't find anything that I would call "bug". Still, a couple of things catched my eye:

1) The fight at the beach seems to be repeatable many times (possibly unlimited times?) after the first one, until you get the session with Clea. I'm not sure if that was intended or not; surely it's a potential source of XP farming.

2) I wandered by accident in the Red Light Attic very early in the game, before getting to know of its existence trough the plot. I found the girl complaining that she "hoped to God" that tickle torture wouldn't catch there, or it would kill her. I suppose that was meant to happen after Clea's session.

CRITICISMS

Practically none, though if I had to express *my* personal tastes, I would slightly tone down the amount of strong words in some dialogues. It's really a matter of personal feelings, because I fully understand that a certain way of speaking actually reinforces the character's humanity and emphasizes their background and personality. I just felt that sometimes there was a bit too much colour for my tastes.

The beach thing is something a lot of people are getting, that'll be addressed. I'm glad to hear most of the hardest parts of the game are regarded as its strengths though, that's encouraging. Most of the problems seem to be fixed relatively easily so that's good to hear.

Everything that can be said has been said. It is a simple combat style which i like, Very original and well written and the characters feel real. I think you have done an amazing job and i can't wait for the next part.

Super fun game. I enjoyed it. Emerald Isle? Roxboro? North Carolina native?

James, is it true the popularity of your new game was the cause of TT crashing?

I'll take credit for that, yes. Also now that said game is going over pretty well, I'd like to take the opportunity to e-beg for money to make the next one even bigger and better.

If it makes any difference, all money earned goes to Tamyra for art. It's still a not-for-profit endeavor and the games will still be free. She's just a semi-pro, almost actually gonna start putting stuff on Slipshine soon, and while she's pretty much my friend and willing to help me with this, it's still her job and is gonna take dollar bills to keep her involved. Why not help speed the process along and get to see some of your filthy fantasies come true all at the same time!

Btw, it might be worth going to TMF and setting up a thread for your game too. Telling more people about this will probably help with the e-begging.

This is a pretty cool game, GJ. I liked the realistic setup. Not that I'm complaining about all the fantasy JPRG type stuff here, they're great. But this is a nice change of pace. The laugh track is also a nice touch.

Can somone put another download link beacause i have problem with mega.co.nz
thanks.

I can't believe I am just noticing this today. Judging by everyone's comments this looks pretty damn nifty, so I will definitely be giving it a go!
