TMF Not Listed In Any Search Engines On My Computer

ok, got it. One more stupid question and I'll be good to go. The text you quoted above, the two lines... is that the entire body of the file? The ones you're linking to here are full of information.
The two lines I quoted above are the generic "let all bots in" lines. Basically, it gives any web spider access to the entire website.

Facebook's robots.txt looks like this

User-agent: *
Disallow: /profile.php
Disallow: /album.php
Disallow: /photo.php
Disallow: /p.php
Disallow: /feeds/

which means they allow all robots to everything on the site except for the files/directories /profile.php, /album.php, /photo.php, /p.php, and /feeds/. Presumably this stops bots from indexing user profile information which should be private to all but their friends.

http://www.robotstxt.org/ is the page written up on the standard, if you'd like to learn more.

http://search.aol.com/aol/search?en...2557fb20&invocationType=aolcomsearch&ie=UTF-8 aol, third link, but again the really odd irl name or address.

http://www.femfeet.co.uk/links/ticklingmediaforum.html okay as you can see by name, this has tickling media forum in it, but not us, and not to this site, but something different. That might be nothng, but from what I read, sounded like a link from here, or a link that would lead to here, very misleading, and kind of pissed me off as as you all or most of you know I'm pretty conservative and not much into liking of hardcore nudity and whatnot. Again probably nothing, except it made it sound like it was a link from here, or would link you TO here.

I know there are workarounds, and you can always just type in the domain name and just come here. But for the growth of the forum, it was great when we were the first hit on google.

And equally importantly, someone is fucking with us and its important to win.

Sometimes I encounter DNS issues, so what I've done is set up my favorites using the IP address rather than the Domain Name:

http://70.85.147.102/index.php
shows all the subforums

http://70.85.147.102/forumdisplay.php?f=4
TMF Tickling Discussion

http://70.85.147.102/forumdisplay.php?f=58
TMF General Discussion

http://70.85.147.102/forumdisplay.php?f=150
TMF Politics & Religion Forum

I've done it this way for years and have had no problems.

That is a pretty good idea. I just type in the name.

Especially when there is a site that says tickling media forum, and once clicked tries to sell you tickets to a plane or boats or clothing. That happened to me just about twenty minutes ago. Though interesting it called itself the "tickling media forum" note the minor letters, but with a person not paying attention, its fucking irritating.

this is the dumb site that got me... http://www.forumurl.com/tickling_media_forum.html I at first wondered why the letters were so small, thought someone was messing with the site again. The IRL address gives it away that its fake, but in aol search the name that comes up is tickling media forum.

Wow. I just came home,. and this thread has exploded. Let me first say that I'm sorry to the mods and admins. It just seemed odd to me as to why I couldnt find the forum by doing a search on either Yahoo or Comcast. I know that the forum had a technical issue earlier this week, so I figured: "Okay, maybe Myriads and/ or Jeff adjusted something with the forum, that just made us not show up temporarially". Now I know otherwise, and that is truly fucked up.
I have the TMF saved in my favorites, and I can do the ticklingforum, com type in the toolbar, that AZ advised me to last night.
Myriads, Jeff, I hope you guys can find out who did this, and that it can be fixed. Good Luck. While it's a very bad thing, it's probably important that this was picked up, so that hopefully if you guys can get through to the proper channels, this can be dealt with and fixed.

Might want to contact Bob Hare for help

Bob is an expert on this type of stuff so you might want to contact him and see if he can lend some advice.

I can get here through the search, but the numerical domain is all that occurs (tickling + forum + tmf (or media works in place of tmf)).

Really strange occurrence, I was actually a little afraid ya'll were taken down for some reason.

For the life of me, I cannot find any contact information on how to contact google about this problem. The closest I can find is a form for a site that was removed for content violation, but it specifically asks me to affirm that I know that to be the case, so I don't want to use it except as a last resort.

ah ha, thanks man! Coming through for us, as always 🙂

Well that was another dead end. Google really does not want to be contacted. If you click any of the links, they all lead to the support page, which has nothing for us. If you call the number, it tells you to email [email protected], and then you get an automated reply saying they don't respond to emails, so please go to the support page.

Even clicking that security link was a dead end unless I'm just going to lie and say I have a problem with gmail, in which case it specifically says they won't reply.

I think there a whole host of websites and books about "search engine optimization" out there. Would that be a help?

Also, doesn't Google have the Adsense program, whereby both you and they get $$ for people who visit your site? They might have more time to talk with the webmaster of a partner site.

Here are a few other links that might help...

Ya, that would be helpful, but right now I'm all about repairing the damage, not starting over from scratch.

We can't use google adsense because they won't let adult sites use their program.

Someone on google groups said this, does anyone know what he's talking about?:

I think it's much more likely that Google has removed you from the
index because you have flagrantly breached the Quality Guidelines.

Load the home page, do a CTRL-A and look at the hidden text on the
left. Remove this and submit a reiclusion request fromthe Webmaster
Tools Console.

But remeber that this will result in a human review of your site.
There are a few other things you might to look at before you attract
Google's attention like that.

I suggest a VERY careful reading of the Guidelines and a review of
your site.

Found this on a Google site:

Quality guidelines

These quality guidelines cover the most common forms of deceptive or manipulative behavior, but Google may respond negatively to other misleading practices not listed here (e.g. tricking users by registering misspellings of well-known websites). It's not safe to assume that just because a specific deceptive technique isn't included on this page, Google approves of it. Webmasters who spend their energies upholding the spirit of the basic principles will provide a much better user experience and subsequently enjoy better ranking than those who spend their time looking for loopholes they can exploit.

If you believe that another site is abusing Google's quality guidelines, please report that site at http://www.google.com/contact/spamreport.html. Google prefers developing scalable and automated solutions to problems, so we attempt to minimize hand-to-hand spam fighting. The spam reports we receive are used to create scalable algorithms that recognize and block future spam attempts.

Quality guidelines - basic principles

* Make pages for users, not for search engines. Don't deceive your users or present different content to search engines than you display to users, which is commonly referred to as "cloaking."
* Avoid tricks intended to improve search engine rankings. A good rule of thumb is whether you'd feel comfortable explaining what you've done to a website that competes with you. Another useful test is to ask, "Does this help my users? Would I do this if search engines didn't exist?"
* Don't participate in link schemes designed to increase your site's ranking or PageRank. In particular, avoid links to web spammers or "bad neighborhoods" on the web, as your own ranking may be affected adversely by those links.
* Don't use unauthorized computer programs to submit pages, check rankings, etc. Such programs consume computing resources and violate our Terms of Service. Google does not recommend the use of products such as WebPosition Gold™ that send automatic or programmatic queries to Google.

Quality guidelines - specific guidelines

* Avoid hidden text or hidden links.
* Don't use cloaking or sneaky redirects.
* Don't send automated queries to Google.
* Don't load pages with irrelevant keywords.
* Don't create multiple pages, subdomains, or domains with substantially duplicate content.
* Don't create pages that install viruses, trojans, or other badware.
* Avoid "doorway" pages created just for search engines, or other "cookie cutter" approaches such as affiliate programs with little or no original content.
* If your site participates in an affiliate program, make sure that your site adds value. Provide unique and relevant content that gives users a reason to visit your site first.

Does anyone see anything there that we are violating?

Achtually, it seems to me that google is mainly objecting to the (hidden) meta-text in many languages which they don't understand.

I suggest to ask them how they would approach the task to address a worldwide community with many languages. If necessary, send them a link to the TMF international discussion subforum to prove that your text was not simply trying to draw interest of any random people to the TMF, only to those who are interested in the common topic.
Do not argue with them, ask them for their help.

Also, you should stress the fact that the TMF is not a commercial site trying to sell anything, but a privately financed site for a special group of peers. Stress the fact that you are not a spam site at all, just a non-commercial international discussion board. The ads on your site are just for covering part of your personal cost for the site.

If everything else fails, just remove the meta-text in various languages, if only temporarily. The TMF will reappear in various foreign language searches automatically anyway, when people post in that language.

Anyhow, the TMF is in good company: Last year, google banned the German car manufacturer BMW for including hidden text in their website... 🙄

PS: I agree with you that this Phil something guy is completely useless. CTRL+A only highlights the whole forum. Probably this means that this guy finds the whole TMF offensive. And I have no idea either what he means by "finding the member subscribe base a little suss".

Looks like Google has pulled the site totally. Doesn't even appear for me on a search for 'Tickling Media Forum' anymore.

Okay, I just googled "Tickling Media Forum" and it showed 6th on the list.
