Eternal duel. In the red corner, a bloodsuckers from Transylvania, the eternal undeads, gentlemen of the night, vaaaaaampires.

In the blue corner, wild as animals, howlers on the moon, furious beasts, weeeeereeeewoooolves!

Which one is stronger and why? Tell me your opinion!

I love werewolves. In a fight with a vampire, it'd be tricky - power vs agility, it's like Spiderman VS Wolverine. But personally, I just love werewolves. Frightening, unstoppable, associated with the full moon, and infinitely more difficult for 14 year olds to mimic. 😉

Spiderman vs Wolverine... not the fairest fight... due to Wolverines regeneration... how about Hulk vs Superman?

Vampires have been fan wanked to the point in where they're all uber sex gods, and much like elves have become fodder for fan girls to make into generic mystical mary sues to which they masturbate to.

Its a rather uneven match, as the Werewolves have no real development beyond being animalistic and such, i mean honestly when's the last time we saw a film about magical werewolves who seduce women with their gothic charms and juggle planets with their magical talisman or whatever.

Vampires have essentially become mass marketed to the point in where they have no really scary elements to them, aside from a few exceptions, but all in all they've just become the latest fad from which to promote fashions at hot topic.

Personally i'm done with Vampires, i say we go back and do some stuff that good old fashioned cosmic horror with their various tentacled doom from beyond the stars.

But yeah, if i have to vote, i'll vote werewolves because they don't get enough love. I mean, aside from the furries of course.

Wow, Senshi and I have a difference of opinion....who knew?? 😀

I LOVE vamps. There are so many things you can do with the idea, so many different ways to take it, so many different interpretations--are they aliens, human mutations, diseased humans, nextgen humans?

As for Warewolf vs Vamp, I think it's pretty evenly matched--as it's supposed to be. They're there, mythically speaking, to keep each other in check. Ones' blood is toxic to the other...they are opposite sides of the same coin.

WOOOO VAMPIRES! and for everyone who hasnt read a book saga called Twilight, go read it and you'll see why vampires ROCK! 🙂

vampires have their good points, i'll admit, but werewolves are just awesome....i think it has to do with the fact that they appear at the full moon

Well on one hand, Werewolves are kinda furry, so that is a point against them. On the other hand, Vampires as they are portrayed now tend to inspire too many fangirls, so it evens out...But looking at it from that perspective, I'd rather be a vampire as I'd have legions of women throwing themselves at me and NOT become a furry. Though I do think Werewolfs are generally cooler.

I'm just gonna say Vampire Werewolf. And yes, they can exist, because I have one in Morrowind.

Werewolves by far. Why vampires get some much love is beyond me. You know like 3-5 ways to "kill" a vampire. What about a werewolf?

6-6 - this poll is way more evenly matched than I expected. o.0 As I already said, I absolutely love werewolves, but I was really expecting vamps to blast them in this poll.

But yeah, vamps are pointy-toothed people that come at you with wire-fu. 😛 Just get in your car and drive away. Werewolves would crush your car like a panzer and then piss all over it for good measure.

EDIT: That sounds a little harsh. I really do like vampires, but I prefer werewolves because they have, to me, more mystique left in them. Vampires are cool, but they've been Hollywoodized so much that they're just punks in leather who add "biting" to the other things they do, like shooting and stabbing.

Hmm, goths vs. furries you say? Bring on the silver-bristled brushes and holy feathers from the vaults of the Inquisition's tickle-instruments! There can be only one! 🙂

v Ah, yes, Kitsune, of course...the Japanese were-vixens. Let's count them among the werewolves? 😉 I was a fan of Jade Empire.

Werewolves are passive but vampires are active.
I prefer kitsune.

This is my usual answer. While vampires have more control over their own actions (or are most often portrayed to be), there are many options in bringing a vampire down, following the mythology. Wooden stake, easy to find most anywhere, even with particleboard and plastics taking over... garlic is plentiful... holy water? Eh... maybe not but anyone can throw together a symbol of their holy beliefs unless it's exceptionally complicated. Fire and sunlight usually trump the rest, too, and those are pretty plentiful.

Werewolves, as I understand it, are merely repelled by wolfsbane (how many people anymore even know what it looks like?) and slain by weapons of pure silver that create wounds they cannot heal. Either that or it instantly reverts them, depending on which mythology you're looking at... but pure silver isn't easy to come by in weaponized form unless you're playing Oblivion.

As far as which are harder to combat or would win in a fight between them, werewolves come out on top. As for which is a cooler concept... well, that's a bit harder. The lack of control as a werewolf would be a terrifying thing, imagining losing the will to avoid mauling one's loved ones... at least in most vampiric tales, a vampire manages to hold some past flicker of their humanity or at least a healthy pragmatism regarding humanity.

I do believe I'm overcomplicating this... so I'mma say werewolves before I run out of room in the post zone

I totally agree with Player 0 here. I vote Werewolf just to knock vampires down a peg. Now as the reasoning behind my vote aside from personal bias. Werewolves take the best of both worlds of human intellect and animal savagery. Strengthwise the match is a tossup (unless you are using Whitewolf rules where an average werewolf can beat the piss out of a vamp). Most vamps usually have a massive ego which is easily exploitable. Another factor is that vamps have a variety of ways to die getting staked, exposed to sunlight etc. So basically if the werewolf plays it smart he can take a vamp.

The numbers speak for themselves.

Vampires.
But not in the sense of the typical "Hot Topic, emo, my life is so horrible I'm going to cut myself and then drink the blood cuz I'm hard core like that, but I wont' really because my mom says I have to be home by 9 and if she sees me with marks on my wrists she'll take away my ipod" kind of vampire way.
Vampires may have been over glamorized, however, that does not diminish the truly frightening aspects of them. And over the years, alot of the "common" ways to kill a vampire have been weeded out. For example, in the book "Interview with the Vampire" Lestat is asked if a stake through the heart would kill him, he responds by saying that that is, how we say, bullshit. Now with the Twilight series, the once tried and true method to kill a vampire (sunlight) has been weeded out. I can only think of one real way to kill a vampire. And that is too rip the body apart, burn the body then scatter the ashes.
I choose vampires because of the human aspect of them. Mainly because if I were presented with the choice to become one of the two, I'd choose to become a Vampire. I want my mind to stay as it is.

It's hard to explain why but I've always preferred vampires over werewolves. Maybe it's cuz vampires are slicker than werewolves.

"slicker"? Elaborate, please.

When I say that vampires are slicker, I'm saying that they are quieter and more stealthy and you never know they are vampires until they want you to know. Werewolves make a lot of noise (howling, roaring, etc.) and they can't disguise themselves once a full moon rises.

Ahh, thank you, that does make a lot of sense. I can appreciate that point of view, surely.

It brings up another interesting point, however... perhaps in urban areas a vampire would have an advantage in that case, their lingering humanity and memories of life allowing them to blend into the cityscape with ease. However, in a rural setting the feral and monstrously strong werewolves would have advantages. One has to look at the environment this situation is occuring in as well...

Oh, for an outside opinion, I invite anyone interested to visit www.fvza.org

It's a detailed and interesting site that toys with more scientific looks at these mythological creatures and only recently added werewolves to the list!
