Welcome to my shadows...

Ok I have to ask. 🙂 Did you have your own chemistry set? I had a ton of chemistry sets my dad bought me. I use to make my own fireworks too when I was younger. Made fountains, roman candles and firecrackers. 😛 Almost blew myself up a few times too. 😛 I became a chemist after taking all the right college courses and worked for an explosives company for like 7 months. Got to do bigger explosions there. 😛 I went all bio though after that job and became a protein chemist. 😛

Thanks for your time hun. Peace and wuv. :bounce:

LOL! Thats a hoot!

Yep... I had a few chem sets. My grandpa was great about nurturing my curiosities when I was younger. Microscopes, books, tons of books and all sorts of things he would come across that related to science he would bring up for us girls to play with. My sis was only casually interested so that meant I got the equipment all to myself. I made firecrackers. Tore apart my dad's shot gun shells for the powder. Used all sorts of odds and ends from the kitchen and the garage. I was more interested in making things explode than anything else. And my pop would get a kick out of the experiments. We'd blow up watermelon, cantaloupe, tree stumps. We brought a tree down once that way, but I only did it once. It was a bit scary and too close of a call! I told my pop he's just have to use the chainsaw from now on, I wasn't doing that again 'cause mom would kill us!

I was studying biochemistry in college until I had a mental crash. I was (am) a writer at heart and was no longer writing. So I got out with a bio degree before the stress killed me and got back to my writing. I still miss the studying and research sometimes...

Best wishes to you and yours!

Pretty much all of it. I do cupping and contact. My favorite might be trails just do the visuals of it. I usually use a calligraphy brush, douse the head of it in rubbing alcohol and light it on fire; if you use a brush made of untreated wool, it soaks up enough alcohol that it leaves trails directly on the skin as you move it. Looks basically like you're painting your partner with flame; hot as hell really (no pun intended).

Very HOT! I need to add that to my list of "must learns". I love the potential artistry in this one. Thanks for sharing!

Best wishes...

Make sure to use a brush with a bamboo handle (inherently flame resistant).

I still remember the old Gilbert Sets I had. I might still have an old one in my shed. 😛

I did several "bad" experiments:

Making my own Carbon Arc furnace and nearly shorting out the houses electrical system. 😛

Making my own contact explosive and burning off my eyebrows.

Making my own rocket car and setting the lawn on fire.

Too bad we werent neighbors we could taken over the whole block. 😛 LOL

I think you would be a great chemist. You have the passion and curiosity for it. I ended up as protein chemist even though I did not orginally set out to do that. I needed to leave to take care of my folks and was tired of people stealing my ideas. So I turned to web design and graphic arts. 😀

Thanks!

One of the things I learned very well was to make certain I know what I am doing before I actually do it. I have a buddy in SF who does fire so I'll be chatting her up some more and hopefully getting to arrange some voyeurism time watching a few of her sessions to get the hang of fire play.

LOL! If we were neighbors, the fire department would be doing regular drive by's to check that the neighborhood was still intact!😀

Rocket cars! Oh goodness! I experimented with my hot wheels and various propulsion systems until my mom yelled at me for taking out a window. I used to get those little rocket engines and bind them together to propel all kinds of created things... just to see how high I could get.

My mom put an end to that too. She didn't seem to be happy with her rock roses catching fire. Those things go up fast too! Drought resistant, so really oily...

LOL You are probably right. 😛 :bounce: Would still be a lot of fun though. Hehehe. 😛

I was using legos and made my own car so doing it that way I was able to build in my own compartments for the rocket engines. 😛 I first used prebuilt engines made by Estes. I loved those rocket engines they were so much fun. Trouble was it was not a proper thrust. The power profile of an Estes engine is pretty much like a kick rather then a steady thrust. Hence my attempts with Estes led to me pretty much destroying my first Lego car. 😛 Thats when I made my own engine with "Kurch brand" propellant 😛 and made a new car, however that car moved only a little and then burned in rather spectacular fashion. 😛 My mom finally put an end to all my "Goddard" like rocket research. 😀 😛

I love that!

Did you play with potato cannons too? I made tons of them, experimenting with sizes just to see what I could come up with. Those things were great!

Thanks. :bounce: 🙂

I never got to play with potato cannons. 🙁 I did get to play with cherry bombs now and then and blow stuff up. 😀

I also use to play with electricity a lot I made several Van De Graff machines and a few monster Telsa Coils. I also repaired some old "Violet Wand" machines which are really sorta mini telsa coils that energize evacuated glass tubes. That electricity stuff was a ton of fun too. 😀

Electricity is one thing I never did much with... I am hoping to rectify that with my Love's tens unit once I get the darn machine checked out and cleared!

Thats a lot of imformation about youself!
Interesting

LOL! True.... but then I am a very diverse, complicated birdie so in reality thats just the tip of this dark iceberg. Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to read. Best wishes to you and yours!

I have never experienced a TENS UNIT. I have felt the "violet wand" sort of a sharp tingly feel to it. A interesting sensation. It used to be used for health, supposedly it thinned the blood or some such nonsense.

That is on my "must get" list. I have had them used on me along with acupuncture needles. Very wicked indeed.

I find it very interesting the origins of many implements that we use in our arts. Many of the ones I utilize are from older days of torture or medicine...

Indeed. My father use to sell antiques on the side to make money. We also fxed pinball machines together but thats another story. 😀 So we had a collection of old stuff. Like Edison Phones. Though those are not much good for torture....well I suppose they could be depending on who is singing on them. LOL 😛 Anyway we always had a bunch of Violet Wand machines. Most came with a bunch of implements. Like a glass comb for the hair and some probe like ones for inserting into various orifices. 😛 Its a bit hard to find a intact set-up with all the wands. Have anything you do find checked out good. These old items are not exactly URL approved. 🙂 I mainly expereinced the sensations in terms of fixing them and checking them out to make sure they worked. Never felt it in a SM type scene but I think it would be a very sexy experience. In away they are like hard tickles. 😛

I read up on a lot of old Psychological Methods that were used to help "cure" people. Man some of the stuff those guys did was quite brutal. There were a number of bizarre theories. The oddest was perhaps that something that would drive a sane person crazy would make a crazy person sane. Course what happened in reality was it made the crazy person crazier. LOL. Another theory that some psychiatrists thought was you needed to "torture" a patient to get them to fess up to their real problems and issues. A lot of those old devices they used were a BDSM dream. Lots of bondage stuff and various devices for torture. Quite amazing really.

I tend to watch a lot of those History Channel shows like "The History of Torture" and what naught and end up sketching all these devices I want to make. Then on will come something like "The History of Mental Health" or whatever it was. They start to go into the procedures they used to try to treat people back then, like deprivation and water "treatments" and I have all kinds of inspiration to draw from!

I watch the History channel a lot too. I also use to watch a show called Fear (was on MTV I think) where they put people in places that are very scary and those that make to the end split a 50000 dollar reward. One place was an abandoned mental institution from the late 1800's that was haunted and loaded with rats. They actually placed people in the bondage stuff that they had still there from the institution and left them there for several hours. Man not many of those people made it through that one. I dont mind being tied up but in the dark with ghost and rats I dont think so. 😱

I can do spooky... until it comes down to hospitals, especially mental institutions. Too much unstable energy for this witch in the majority of those places. I know there are things out there we are not meant to know about and I would rather not be anywhere near them.

No problem with the colonial places, old castles/churches or prisons. But as soon as mental instability comes into place, there are all kinds of doors opened that I would rather not play with. My pocket of charms and trinkets will only protect me so far!
