Looking ahead to a get-together

Okay, putting together what's been suggested so far...

I think Giggles sounds like a good a place as any.

How do the following three dates sound for possibilities?

Friday, Dec. 6
Saturday, Dec. 7
Friday, Dec. 13
 
Can't make any promises for Nightfall without discussing things with her, but for my part either of the Fridays would likely be better.
 
Cold feet....

I feel really stupid over here because I know that I was one of the ones that got this discussion going in the first place, but I've got to admit that I'm a bit nervous about meeting all of you. I don't know why...maybe it's because you all know more about my intimate details then most of my family members...I've got that feeling of total exposure going on. Maybe I'm just being stupid...I don't know. I've never done anything like this before.
Would it be cool if I brought a friend along (from the non-tickle community)? I told her about this possibility, and she said that she would feel more comfortable if I had someone there that I knew. I can see her point. I mean, so far...I'm the only girl! Not that that should matter much, but I guess it does a little.

Am I babbling? Sorry...like I said, I'm just a little nervous.

If I get up the courage to go...friday nights are fine for me too.

I don't think anyone would object as long as your friend isn't the sort to be freaked when the discussion turns (as it may probably do) to tickling. And if I do come, I'll be bringing Night with me, so you won't be the only female, at least.
 
Bringing friends

Perfectly fine with me, bringing friends along--I don't even care if it's tickling we talk about. I'm an outsider to some of the stuff others here are into, anyway (like videos). For me, it's just a break from routine and an evening meeting new people.
 
This sounds interesting. I must admit that anytime I've ever seen this suggested, I vacillate between wanting to fraternize with others on the board, and wanting to keep this aspect of my life (and my identity) a secret. Therefore, you couldn't rely on me to be there. Fridays are pretty much out for me, but Saturday is a possibility. It's a good idea, either way 🙂 .
 
Hello WIP and Maggie...I would also be interested in a meeting of some sort..either in a coffe house or bar. I live way out on the island but would travel into "the city" to meet some people for a get together. I am also married to a non-tker so I would be going solo. It sounds like fun.

Where abouts do you live? You don't have to give me specifics, just a general location. I'm out on the Island too. Maybe if I get the guts up to go to this thing we could ride in together. I like the fact that you're married too. It makes me feel a bit safer...don't ask me why. I figure that we might have the same ideas of what this gathering is for...just to meet some people and strike up some friendships. I'm not implying that the other singles that are coming have different motives, just that it's easier to tell from someone who is already married.

p.s. - For those of you that have gone to these kinds of meetings, how do you know who's who when you get there? I mean, obviously if it's at someone's house or a hotel you know just by who shows up, but when it's in a bar, how can you tell?? Should we all wear a name tag with the letters TMF on it? Or should I wear a feather in my hair? Lol....

Never got to quote myself before...lol. I just thought that I should have been a little more clear on this one BOxr. I meant ride the train in together. I didn't want to you think that you would have to sit in the car with a total stranger for over an hour! Never know what kind of nutcase I might be :shake:

Hi Maggie....i am out in Centereach..that's exit 62 on the LIE. If a meeting of some sort does get off the ground then I think we could make arrangements to go in together. I don't take the train into the city..I always drive in. Call me crazy but I love driving in Manhattan so if you want to come with me you are welcome. If not that's ok too. Side note

I once lived in Centereach.

It was such a brief time in my life, I barely remember my address, though I believe...Oxhead Road.
 
I used to live in Oyster Bay. Never been to Centereach, though.

So ... is there any consensus at all on a date and/or time? Of those who have expressed a preference, most have gone for a Friday (with City of MicA the lone Saturday-favorer). Shall we nail something down?
 
Finding a date

In the interests of getting everybody, let me ask this: Is there anybody who cannot do Saturday, December 7?

Of course, we could also shoot for doing this more than once, and have different combinations different times.

Ahhh, WAS a theatre person for a long time and modern dancer. Moved to LA to make some real money and not be poor any more but just got laid off so I figure, what the heck, might as well have a new adventure! See ya when I get there,

I can't completely rule out the 7th, but it would definitely be a lot less convenient for the Mrs.
 
Well, I'll offer these two points:

(1.) We should do this more than once, and not worry about having everybody there both times.

(2.) Maggie and Shem, I think, should be there the first time, because she suggested the event and he suggested the place.

By the way, let me add that I find all of you in this thread so far believable. I know we hear a lot of stories about people doing all kinds of nefarious things through the internet, but I definitely get the vibes that I'm in touch with regular people here. Those who are in this thread so far, you're all welcome to E-mail me at [email protected] . (I only check it every few days, so expect delays.)

Incidentally, Giggles bar is in the same section of town as the arts venue of which I'm a member.

Hey, you know something?

I just took a look back, and I found that the only person who can't do Fridays is also the person who is undecided about even being interested in this meeting. So now that I see that, I feel a lot more comfortable about saying, how about Friday, December 6? I know I'm in.

I also think, if it's worth doing once, it's worth doing more than once, so if the conversation is even halfway decent December 6, there should be more occasions when perhaps Mica would want to be there too.

Shem, does "penman" mean writer? Are you a writer? (I am, on a couple of different fronts actually, academic and in the theatre.)
