WWE Star Chris Jericho Punches Woman After Wrestling Match

Right, this has escalated far to far.
How is this for a great rule, if you have never been in a similar situation then shut up!

Let me try to explain:
When you are surrounded by 50 people it feels like thousands
The noise level seems unbearable and starts to disorientate you.
As you start to feel threatened the adrenaline pumps, your body starts to shake and your knees feel a little weak adding to you feeling of vulnerability.
Then your imagination fires up and you imagine everyone as a potential attacker carrying concealed weapons.
The team that you are supposed to be able to rely on are useless so you now feel completely out numbered.
Panic is bubbling under the surface but you try to keep it together.
then BANG! something happens, someone strikes or a loud noise or anything that makes you jump and instinct kicks in. Survival instinct. The basic human urge is to lash out and protect yourself.

In these circumstances there is no blame to be placed on the surrounded persons.
You say he is a professional and is supposed to be able to deal with it.
Sorry but i know bodyguards and special forces who still struggle to keep their cool in these situations and they have rigorous training and conditioning for precisely these situations.
Pro wrestlers are just jocks who do a little acting and are in no way prepared to deal with these situations.

Yes hitting women is wrong. No one will argue that point but then so is hitting men.
If you are saying we should completely ignore our survival instincts then natural selection does not look promising for our race in the long term future!

So, anyone who has actually been in this situation and has a different opinion (which i doubt) then by all means voice it and i am all ears to reasonable debate. Otherwise stop bitching about things you cannot possibly understand!!!

Finally i stand by my previous statment

"Men should NOT hit women but women should NOT hit men. Should either side decide otherwise then they should do so at their own peril!!"

Poor grown professional wrestler man;DON'T HIT A WOMAN! I will never ever not even consider him to be right in any way for this.A girl could not hit a man as hard as a man could hit a girl and especially not a pro wrestler with all those muscles. What he did was not okay in any way.

...A girl could not hit a man as hard as a man could hit a girl and especially not a pro wrestler with all those muscles. What he did was not okay in any way.

Then you obviously never have watched the Olympics or any other sporting event. Most of the girls on the field hockey team when I was at the University of Iowa could do some serious damage, as can other female athletes, or those in good shape as well.

The fact that he is a 'Pro Wrestler' has nothing to do with it. All he is in reality is a glorified stunt man. He's not a prize fighter or MMA fighter by ANY stretch of the imagination. An actor.

The problem is in this is the fact that we are all using the dreaded 'retrospectoscope' in this. He was attacked. He defended himself. We can all pontificate on what he should or should not have done. But, it happened. It's history. Press releases show he regrets his actions. Just 'taking the assault' like a man is stupid because, after she attacks him, what stops the crowd from joining in? Normal human reflex is to (1) run: he's surrounded by a crowd, therefore no where to run (2) defend yourself: only other option, which he did and is now being crucified by you and others.

Physical violence should always be a LAST resort. But, when cornered, like he was, I can't say that I might not react the same in the given situation. I have worked with ladies that competed in the woman's version of the "Tough Man" competitions. They can do some damage. I'd saythat a woman good in martial arts (1st degree black belt or higher) could take him out. The point is this: HE did not know what he was up against. In the ring, he follows a script. Out there, there IS NO SCRIPT. She may have been a beer-swizzling piece of redneck white trash. She may have been a 3rd degree black belt in Tae-Kwon-Do. He as no idea or the time to decide on that.

Should he have hit her? Probably not. Did he? Yes, he did to defend himself. End of story. Move along, nothing else to see here. No screeching by either side of the argument is going to change that.

I find it somehow amazing, if not hilarious, that this thread hasn't died off yet....:huh

Video of the incident - [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YM9xD7pARgM"]YouTube - Chris Jericho punches a girl and assaults fans & security (FOR REAL!)[/ame]

The woman who was hit, 20-year-old Ashley Levey, said the altercation began when her boyfriend, Kalen Johl, heckled Jericho as he drove through the parking lot. Jericho got out of his vehicle, Levey said, and made a derogatory comment to Johl, who is South Asian. She said Jericho pushed Kohl first. Levey called Jericho a racist, so he spit on and punched her, she said.

:13:
Okay, so first off I agree, you NEVER hit a women, especially when your 225lbs + and built like a Brick &@*^ House.
Secondly, you don't hit a women with so obvious a mental deficiency.........Hello people, she was Heckling him for losing a match, "SPORTS ENTERTAINMENT!!!!!!!!!!!" IT'S NOT REAL, oops did I let the Cat out of the perverbial Bag? What is she going to do when she learns the truth about "Santa" and the "Easter Bunny", or could that be Jercho's next tag team match, Let's get ready to "RRRRRRUUMMMMMBBBBLLLEE" hop, hop, ho, ho.......................

you can make whatever excuse you want for him,he was wrong no matter which way you slice the pie sweetheart

Yeah that is right, at this point now why is this topic still going on? This is old news now.

The law found nothing wrong with Jericho and the WWE found nothing wrong with Jericho. What else is there to discuss?

first off, to the fans I give you this all-important fact.....

WRESTLING IS FAKE!!!!

The matches are pre-thought out, the wrestlers personality is just simply a role that they play, and everything that is caught on camera between the wrestlers are a part of a story. Anybody who thinks otherwise is a completely brainless twit who have no opinions of their own accord.

Secondly, I viewed the tape (as messed up as it was in quality), from what I saw, the woman that got hit did deserve what she got. Now don't get me wrong, I do not condone Jericho's actions, but neither do I hers. This is exactly the reason why the idea of world peace will never come to pass, because of these senseless acts of rage, aggression, and total stupidity...I personally weep for the future..

Deserves repeating ⇑

I'd just like to add that it'd be nice if somebody with some skills would create that gif-image that TickleTheater asked about(if someone hasn't already, of course).

Last for me: I've seen other celebrities in situations like that and I gotta say - they can HAVE it. I'd love to be rich, no question there. Fame, with the intrusiveness, the mobs, all that? Ewww. No way.

yeah but you get trained to handle all that. They have body guards and people who tell them what they need to say and do to deal with the media.Just like the Dixie Chicks they were forgiven. They have all kinds of help to deal with these situations and they make up some of their own ways as well because you do eventually learn to cope with it all.

so what you're saying is that double standards are okay and there are exceptions to rules in life and not everything is equal, women are weak, breasts and vaginas impair their strength and muscle activity, etc

i'm not disagreeing, but i'm curious as to where your views are aligned ultimately and other people have made their positions pretty clear, but your pseudo-feminist views don't seem to aim for equality

go with me here and i'd like you to not be so clever in beating around the bush (so to speak) and i'll have a reason for wanting to know this for later archival purposes

no,a woman's vagina doesn't impair her strength any it's just most of the time a man is physically stronger and a woman has a higher tolerance for pain then a man.I also don't think it is ever okay for a man to put his hands on a woman. That's not to say a girl should go beating on a man but if she does happen to slap him once he shouldn't turn around and hit her back,he should tell her to stop and if she doesn't he can leave her, hold her hands down or call the police.A man can most of the time hurt a woman a whole lot more then he can hurt her.Oh and yes unfortunately their are double standards in life. For example a man can go all over town and have sex and never be called anything except maybe a pimp but the minute a girl has sex with more then like 2 guys she's automatically a *****.

How dare you! wrestling is not fake!

no,a woman's vagina doesn't impair her strength any it's just most of the time a man is physically stronger and a woman has a higher tolerance for pain then a man
so you're saying that the breasts are weighing a woman's muscular activity down, making her more susceptible to physical pain and weakness and fatigue

this might explain why flat chested women are pretty manly

Well, since it's become apparent that double standards are now acceptable I suppose I'll be calling more people *****s.

I'll also inform my girlfriend i'm not allowed to touch her at all anymore in fear of causing any harm.

Getting that trolling out of the way, and seeing as how it has yet to actually been requested. Any mod out there wanna close this? All constructive speech has been completely bereft for awhile, there is no reason to keep the thread open. We simply have a stubborn woman (not saying it's wrong to be stubborn) standing by her beliefs, and the same arguments either being reiterated, or simple humor being tossed in with a whoosh sound going over head.

I just see no reason to keep it up any longer.
