I have an idea, too: Make it easy. No photography at NEST.
Because of the stink you're throwing up, it's going to end up being like that.
There were more people then Amn taking pictures. They asked others if it was alright, got the consent and snapped the shot. Nothing more, nothing less.
I don't know if you're just seeking notoriety because you're a "photographer" and feel Amn is stepping around in territory that you desire, but it's really not as big as you're making it out to be.
He's shot at NHLee and other places as well. He IS the Man with the camera, it's just how it happened. He does a good job with what he does and that's that.
And those who attend NEST are completely aware of what is going on as far as the cameras. We're all grown adults and have a decent ability to utilize our vocabulary. Thus meaning, asking permission.
You really need to relax and stop taking this whole thing so literally. It started out as a mis-wording and has blown up into questioning NEST's ability for privacy rights. It's going to get to the point where we're all going to have to ask permission to take a shit if you keep going on about something that didn't even need to be explained.

Who grants clearance? The same folks who make all the other decisions regarding NEST: the NEST Team. Considering how well they've run the gathering for as long as they have, I'm inclined to trust their judgment, even as one who refused to be photographed. NEST isn't a free-for-all with the rules decided by the attendees alone; such would invite chaos. There is a small team that has proven itself year after year to be capable and competent to make these sorts of decisions.Who grants this clearance? What is the basis of the selection? Guests of NEST have to fill out pretty specific information and hand it in. In return, those who go to NEST might also want to know how and who is making the decisions reguarding their privacy and image rights.
Permission was granted. All NEST attendees are *required* to read, agree to, and sign a form describing, among many other things, the photography policy at NEST. It details that there will be a videographer and photographer recording the event and that they may opt in to be photographed. By opting in, they consent to be photographed or recorded, knowing that said media will not be shared outside of NEST attendees. It's not some mysterious, surreptitious recording: it's a fully explained and open process that, again, all must opt in to or remain out of in WRITING. The whole point behind getting such informed consent when you register and check in is to be certain members are aware of such things. If you opt out then you needn't worry; your face will not be seen. That sentence just looks so questionable. Again, with the rules in place that I've seen/read, how can that even happen? "People didn't always have a say." ? Doesn't that seem like a grevious breach of security? That's the sentence the prosecuter will hang ya with.
It's not a public street. It's not about getting permission after the picture was taken - it's being taken it in a private, non-mainstream function without the pre-consent of the participants there. TTD had a behind-the-scenes issue a few years ago at NEST that he dealt with, properly, behind the scenes (although I don't think he's been back since because of the issue) - yet, openly, there's photo snappin' going in a compromising & intimate situation without written or verbal permission of the attendees?

Thank God you posted this! Ya see, I had been wondering what it would be like to visit Chicago/DeKalb/Granite City, Illinois, and now that you've posted this photo, I know exactly what to expect if and when I decide to venture out there. You don't know how much you've eased my anxieties with this photo. Some are new borns, so hopefully i wont get flak for underage content!

Professional models with signed releases are legally the same as private individuals in an intimate venue and therefore photography will occur whether they consented to their image being captured or not.

As NEST grows over the years, with newer people and a more diverse cross-section of people become involved, I think things will get more and more interesting.

^ Thanks for sharing the nice pics. I really appreciate seeing these, after all it is what the title of the thread is all about.

Now I no longer feel 'Pic-Rolled'. Yeah, I could be as shallow as that, but just because there is a hoopla behind. I'm done now.
Geez, I thought this thread would've calmed down by now. Oh well.....![]()
I just jumped in to thank Team Jomonda for the pics; it looked like a lot of fun.
