Amnesiac's NEST PHOTOS (Finally)

After much delay and AGGRAVATION here are the NEST photos you guys have been bugging me about! Now, keep in mind that these photos have been altered, augmented, tweaked and cropped for maximum effect except in the cases where I felt the composition required the entire shot. These are all the "SAFE" pictures...everyone here has posted their mug on the forum at some point, so nobody can accuse me of breaching privacy or the Rules (sorry, no HDS face goils); anybody hoping to have a glimpse of the PhotoPhobic Phour is out of luck. So THESE ARE IT! There's no more after this until the day when we're at the Old Tickler's Retirement Home.

I was going for a photojournalistic effect when I took most of these, but as yet hadn't quite learned how to manage my camera to my standards, but they turned out all right.

Oh, by the way, did I mention that these are just the BEST OF pics? The collection is on my Photobucket account...you want in, you gotta ask. So enjoy these and then PM nicely...

I wouldn't mention it, but the thread involving these pics has been a significant one for over a week, and lots of folks were looking forward to seeing the result.

It's cool that you want to keep the images exclusive to NEST people, and I have no issues with that, but jamming the fact into all the other members faces in such a way as you do above is pretty bad form. A note in the pending thread that they would only be for NEST members would have been thoughtful.

Lot's of folks who felt that they might have been included by seeing what was touted as 'official images of NEST' and such, probably feel a bit excluded from the community now.

And I'm sure 'Too bad' feels good to all those who wanted to go, but due to life, finances, and work could not.

That's totally understanding and fair. Cuz people couldn't possibly have any other mitigating circumstances in their lives, especially right now. Nest obviously has to come first in your life.

I completely understand that NEST official photos are for people who went to NEST. I was never under the impression I would see them.

I think Amnesiac's comment just reflected his excitement that he has something to share from the weekend for those that were there. I'm sure it took time and effort to organize all the images. Everyone likes to feel appreciated for their time, effort and work. I'm sure he'll be properly thanked by those who look in his photobucket account.


The comment did not offend me at all, and I hope that everyone who didn't attend NEST will just not worry about this.

I have to agree with Myraids

I myself had made 2 attempts at NEST when I lived in NY and once due ot illness and the second times a woman was doing makeup on the phone and plowed into me in Deleware. Now Things are different. I have not worked in the last 2 weeks with a family to support and I am out here now in Cali and even if I was still working the expense would be too great. The way it was worded was in bad taste. There are lots of people that wish they could or could have gone and cant. There are also alot of newbies that are thinking about going to a gathering but wonder what they are about. You post has probably alienated alot of them and I for one do not think thats what TMF is all about. ( If you want that go over to the other place ). And yes you should have put a note saying it was only for NEST folks.

Sorry, but I find this post to be rather ignorant. It reinforces the negative stereotype that some folks have (not me, FYI) about gatherings being very exclusive. Whether or not any harm was meant, it was extremely bad form.

Come on now. I agree that it wasn't the best idea, and in hindsight Amn probably sees everyone's points, but no harm was meant, and to say that he's alienated future potential NESTees is a little dramatic.

He used some poor wording. Myriads let him know about it. I don't see the point in a bunch of folks coming in and saying "YEAH! WHAT HE SAID! YOU ARE TEH SUK!!"

It is my opinion. Why do I not have the right to speak if you do.. You think it was in good fun.. I do not.. thats what makes people non-boring... being of different opinions

One of their reasons is that they sometimes feel that these gatherings are only for the in crowd. I tell them all the time that I really don't believe that to be the case, but when they see posts like this, it probably doesn't help.

You seem to think I'm disagreeing with Myriads. I'm not at all. I agree that the OP was worded poorly. I just happen to know that there were no malicious intentions behind it.

And as far as people being afraid to go to NEST for one reason or another, I fully understand and respect that. We've all been there. But for every post "like this" that intentionally or unintentionally paints a negative or intimidating picture of NEST, there are ten more floating around that are encouraging and even nurturing when it comes to newbies. So to say that this ONE post is going to deter people from NEST in the future is, as I said, dramatic.

furthermore, in this thread he came off very immature in the way he worded his post... hence why it got some people angry.

I don't think anyone in this thread is angry at the fact some people would like to keep pics of themselves private from NEST....more so the way the OP acted and how he never said in his other thread these pics would be for ceartin members only.

I figured that Amnesiac had already gotten permission to post the snapshots from those who were in them. I believe that's what others had thought as well, which is why I think many are put off.

Which means that they are not being posted on the open forum....which in turn means they are not being posted publicly....which in turn is the underlying cause of the upset...

The OP was busting on those that have been bugging him to get this done...and he was insensitive to those who would take it as a direct shot, especially the "too bad" comment...

I agree about it being worded poorly at best, but it really has nothing to do with a decision to go to a gathering or not...and many have expressed that this type of post is reason not to...
