Here's a pretty spectacular scene from the anime Soul Eater; about 8:10 in.

The character's name is Medusa, and she's barefoot 99% of the time. I'll post some more scenes eventually.

Gegege no Kitaro. Manga from the 1960s that was later turned into an anime. A new series is made based upon it roughly every ten years or so and it's even had a live action movie. Neko Musume was a minor character who became popular after getting a redesign for one of the 1980s series. She has a crush on Kitaro.

It's just a 'crude' way to allow air to flow in those areas without having to actively stretch and hold the position yourself.

Females who wear closed shoes [especially when they have soft, tender feet] do it more than you might imagine. Just... not with rocks.
