If You Support Gay Marriage, Then What About Polygamy and Incest?

Oh, there are plenty of Christian churches that will perform gay marriages; they perform purely ceremonial gay unions now. I think there are Jewish temples that do it too.

Hm wierd, considering that the bible doesn't agree with gay marriage.

And how strongly they STILL are against sex before marriage and birth control....

I don't go to church either, considering how some things are allowed and some aren't.

I honestly don't think God cares if you're gay--they say gay is genetic, and God don't make mistakes😛

Bible Shmible. Its name means book. That's all it is. A book. God isn't in it. Senshi said it best. He's all around. Have a chat with Him.

People like to point at Levitican law, but all of that was thrown out when this fella named Immanuel showed up and taught that to be saved, you had to have faith in him as your savior.

We call this dude in modern English, Jesus. You might've heard of him. Really nice guy. Give him a call sometime and chat. Ya might find out that loving your brothers and your sisters means taking a hard look at what you "believe".

Give it a shot. Practice what Jesus taught. Turn the other cheek, smile on your fellow man. And remember... don't judge! You might find yourself asked about that when you reach the end of your journey! 😀

It comes from the greek word Biblios, which literally means "book."

The problem here in the US these days is that most people, like those who have posted above, are really clueless to what the Bible is and, more importantly, what it means to be a true Christian. Everyone gets their eyes on what they have seen those who proclaim to be 'of Christ', but aren't, and bias their views on that. And of course, the media and others focus on them, rather than those of us that are living it for real. But, it's heartening to know that everyone attacks us, proving that satan is alive and well and on the attack against his only real enemy, as he is against my brothers in Christ in India, where Bible schools and children's homes are being attacked and destroyed by militant Hindus. But of course, you'll never hear THAT on the nightly news...thank the Lord all the kids and most (last we have heard) the local houseparents and students are safe according to the last e-mails we have received.

I would highly recommend you read the book "Velvet Elvis: Repainting the Christian Faith" by Rob Bell. Get a true, non-'Americanized' view of Christ and His teachings. I challenge all you "open-minded" people to read it. You'll find him quite the opposite of the stereotype that many of you paint us into. I would also recommend his new DVD "The God's Are Not Angry". It paints the vision of God as we see Him, not the image that the media says we see Him as.

Provided, of course, y'all are as open-minded as you say you are....

I can not imagine, but if someone really loves his own sister or brother and they use contraceptives not to conceive hardly handicapped babys, I think this love would be ok.

And if more than two people want to live in an sexual relationship together and all of them do it voluntarily, where's the problem?

I think you should tolerate all kind of voluntary relationships, that includes the individual freedom. Excepting pedophiliac ones because children are not self-determined sexual persons.

That's quite a wide range of things that really don't quite fit together. Marriage, no matter if it is same sex or opposite sex couple should the most sacred of all. This is when you enter into a contract to live, and love each other, no matter what.

The Christian Right loves to point people in the direction that it will make the world fall into chaos and hell but it won't, allowing same sex couples to enjoy the same benefits that their hetro-sex couples do. When two people love each other, I mean REALLY LOVE each other (and this doesn't mean hyper-sex either) nothing should bar them from living a live together.

Polygamy sounds complicated to me and in my own opinion dilutes the "couple" unit. I am not against it, personally I find it would be harder to love each other partner equally enough that all would be satisfied.

As for incest, what in the hell does that have to do with same sex marriages and multiple partner relationships?

WTF???? That question sounds like it was written by a Holy Roller.

I stumbled on a somewhat unsettling article in the Times of London (a Murdoch paper - be forewarned).

I think it's really ugly how certain telegenic quasi-religious types routinely promote the persecution of gay men and women for their own selfish ends (to say nothing of what they want to do to straight women who don't want to be owned by a man or used as breeding stock).

As for my own opinions on unorthodox but harmless sexual practices (like say, tickling), I'll echo the sentiments of the judge who said he saw no reason to object to them as long as they didn't interfere with interstate commerce!

Again, this is a potentially explosive topic, and I have no desire to get into an argument with or to offend anybody, but a factor we all overlook is how much other people get themselves needlessly involved with the gay marriage debate.

No doubt a large chunk of gay people, if not most of them, don't try to interfere in the way everybody else lives their life. If they don't care about other people, why should other people care so much about them? I'm just saying live and let live. Just because we may not like the lifestyles of other consenting adults shouldn't give us the right to interfere directly with their lives.

The reason I say this is because I can see where they're coming from. What I mean is, I'm getting married next year, and me and my fiancée are of different nationalities, as many of you know. That has nothing to do with gender, but if cross-cultural marriages came with even a quarter of the stigma that gay marriages get, I'd be furious. If I were that persecuted against, I'd be the one wanting to commit hate crimes against them, not vice-versa.

I know cross-cultural is, in this day and age, a world apart from homosexual, but you get my drift. I'm just saying I'd be extremely angry if I were persecuted against that much by people who had absolutely zero to do with us and the way we choose to live.

i would like to make conversation, but i dont meet the first requirement for posting. i dont support gay marriage.

And why do you think that?
Gay marriage is meaninless yet normal marriage isn't?

gay marriage has no potential purpose. i believe all it does is crush moral integrity and opens the door to usher in things like incest and polygamy.

Wow.
Gay marriage crushess moral integrity?
I think that ignorace crushes moral integrity, after all, it was the ignorance of our ancestors that crushed OUR moral integrity and made us treat African Americans and women like pieces of property in the past. But that's just what I think.
and as for polygamy and incest, there's plenty of ways too have the two be legal and still have integrity.
Just read some of teh older posts
