LOLOLOL I love that joke!!!

Is swiftwind your horse? Hey, where's my royal stallion?? Dont tell me I have to ride K's back! Okay, buddy, saddle up!

I'm always good for a pun...two tents...too tense...ah, it's a classic...

Swiftwind is She-Ra Princess of Power's (cartoon heroine from the 80's) horse...and as I'm the Princess of Power...my non-existant horse's name is Swiftwind...she's white and has wings...and she's awesome...her wings also give some excellent feathers...Sir Ticklefree--if you need new feathers for your menagerie, I suggest conversing with my noble steed...she will help you on your quest...😉

Ohh a winged horse, eh? Sounds cool to me! I never watched She-Ra enough to know who her horse was (or that she even had a horse). I had winged My Little Ponies though! God I loved those! 😀

Oh, they went under the name of "Mio Mini Pony" here.

They were a hit with girls. The least "manly" toy I have ever played with was - guess what? The She-Ra doll! 😀

I really liked my Masters of the Universe, so when I had a chance, I played with She-Ra too.

No, I don't cross-dress...

Er... another not so manly toy I tried were Popples.

An interesting bit of fact about Popples is... TICKLING was recurrent in the series.

One of the Popples [the purple one, Pancake I think] even had a tickling fetish!

Oddly, due to weird dubbing, I could never ascertain if it was a She or a He.

...

Yes. I possess useless bits of pointless knowledge.
And I am fully ready to divulge them! 😀

How old are you K? I always imagined you as being quite a bit older than me but if you played with She-Ra you're either just a bit older than me or you were a very strange teenager! LOL!

POPPLES!!! Ohhh I loved them! My mother bought my a green popple when they were new and I had no idea what it was. I didnt get real into the whole line or the cartoon or anything but I loved my little popple. Every now and then I look around ebay to see if I can find one like it.
Some more things I loved...
Care bears
Rainbow Bright...I had a Rainbow Bright color-forms set which I adored. 😀 I especially liked the little guy that represented the color red. I can well remembver when I was 6 or 7 years old putting together little tickling scenes with my color-forms and hoping that nobody caught me! LOL I was warped. 😛

I had that guy Ness!!! Red Butler!!! And the Sprites!!! My grandma got this fabric that had all the characters and sprites on it (a front view and a back view) and she cut them out, sewed them, and stuffed them so I had little pillow people of all of the rainbow brite folks and the sprites...I had all that stuff--I used to take my My Little Ponies in the bathtub with me so I could wash their hair and they could go swimming...yeah...She-Ra would come occasionally too because she was She-Ra!!! And someone had to ride the Ponies...I didn't play with her much though...I got knocked around a bit as a kid because of my name being so similar and the kids on the playground would ask where my horse and sword were and why I wasn't fighting them back...eh...kids...

I LOVE Care Bears...I have a little version of Cheer Bear (the Pink homosexual one with the Rainbow on her stomach...come on...pink...rainbows...her name might be Cheer Bear on TV, but around my friends, especially in the Rainbow Alliance, we call her Queer Bear...😛) I also had the little light green Lamb...I think she was a Care Bear Cousin...I don't remember her name, but she was cuddly...

And Popples...I never had a big sized one, only a little one...I don't really remember the show, either...Kalamos--you say there was tickling on the show??? Anyone got a popples tickling clip>??? I gotta see this!!! All of these characters are coming back big time!!! Go look around any toystore and you'll find care bears, rainbow brite, my little pony, strawberry shortcake, popples, etc...it's all the "retro" cool stuff to play with...K and Ness--thanks for the nostalgia...ah, memories...

Call me NostalKia... 😉

I only have the opening vid from the show. It doesn't quite show actual tickling - BUT the purple popple "hugs" the teenaged female [human] char, and she laughs.

This popple used to tickle people with his/her puffy tail, and once I vaguely recall him/her tickling the girl in the actual show.

Tickling wasn't quite advertised as such, but, in Mattle's tradition, toys had a kind of character commentary - and Pancake [not quote me on his/her name] was mentioned to tickled people with the tail to cheer them up.

Yes, it is a very faint trace, but, hey, those were the late '80s...

Now, LJN's Advanced D&D posable figures... THOSE were toys for a trueborn fullblooded geek. 😀

...

Yet... always liked Popples. My tender side...

...

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA! This was a good one. 🙂

Awwww K I always knew you were just a big softie!!
Yeah I remember seeing a popple comic or something where the purple guy tickles someone to try to cheer them up. I have such a rotten memory but it shines through at the strangest times!
My green popple was just a tiny one too, though I always wanted one of the big white ones...they always looks so cool.

I really loved the Care bears. 😀 My favorite was a horse I believe...one of the two "parent" care bears that showed up every now and then. Didnt they also have a really big ship made of a cloud? I really liked that. 😀 Im strange but you know you love me. LOL

I was never much into Strawberry Shortcake which I think was about the same time period...too girly for me. I adored Rainbow Bright though. I had a little Rainbow Bright doll and a white Sprite that was huge and way out of proportion. LOL. It worked for me though. 🙂

Yes...and Cabbage Patch Dolls. *sigh*. My rich uncle paid hundreds of dollars to get me one the Christmas they were so hude. 1986 was it? A brown haired doll with brown eyes named Madel Jill. Lost her a few years later but my whole childhood I got one every Christmas and the first thing I did was take their braids out. LOL. Now of course I'm big and important and things like that aren't unattainable (and also not as special). Any time I want to and have $10 or $20 I can go on ebay and buy any kind of Cabbage Patch I want.
I've got a ton of them now. A lot of them have really expensive clothes that I've bought them and they look awesom. 😀

I go to Toys R Us sometimes for my daughter and they have the latest incarnation of CPKs there. They're really big and have oddly proportioned bodies (and they're expensive!) but I like to smell them. You may think it's strange but if you had CPKs as a kid try it. It's wonderful. 😀

Never denied being soft. Just people don't believe me when I claim it. 😀 😀 😀

Popples came in four sizes. There where big popples, medium and small. The green and the yellow popple were small, while the white, purple [Pancake] and blue [PC] where big. Then some of them also came in pocket size, despite "original" dimensions.

While I recall next to nil about Strawberry, I do remember Rainbow Brite. Her italian name was Iridella - while Red Butler had been un-imaginatively renamed Red Rosso.

Not quite a fav with me. But Murky Cupo and Lurky Gruffo [the name the baddies where known in italian] where fun enough.

I've seen Cabbage dolls, but never touched them. Or smelled either.

I had a lot of japanese bots - ranging from the older Grendizer to the later transformers.

Speaking of american figures, my collection was mostly made up of Masters of the Universe [the classic series...] and Mask [the smaller pilots with morphing vehicles].

When I was even younger I used to play with Big Jim - although I had the european version, which was more spy oriented than the sportish american line.

Speaking of weird odours, Mattle churned out a couple of odd smelly characters too: the heroic pine-scented Mossman, and the vile fetid Skunkor. 😀

Ha--the year Cabbage Patch Kids were huge, my grandma waited in line for hours to get me one...she has red hair in 2 braided pigtails, and blue eyes and looks nothing like me...her name is Reggie Hilda. She still sits on my bed, with my other 3 cabbage patches (Benton, Zena Celeste, and Ryan)...and I've been to toys r us recently...those new CPK's ARE kinda scary...some of the girls look like hookers. And the boys new hair that is actually like hair instead of yarn...they look like they have flat tops...but the smell is amazing...I know EXACTLY what you're talking about...🙂

Hey...what's that purple popple doing at my feet...*YIKES!* 😛

*humming happily*

We got our thread back...We got our thread back.....
😉

have I told you lately that I adore you, IL2BT??? 😛 You're awesome...

yeah! Someone else knows what CPK's smell like! I'm not crazy! Hubby looks at me funny every time he catches me smelling them at the store!
That is SOOO cool that you still have your first doll! I dont have ANY of the ones I had as a kid though through ebay I've bought a replica of the first one I had. 😀 I'll take a piccy for ya...

I miss my Popples doll.. I had the big white one that turned into a soccer ball and a little pink and yellow one.. Mom sold my Popple when I was five and we moved to AL from MI ;.; then I saw it in the antique store for like $200 and mom kicked herself.. the dog ate the little one when she was a puppy... so K, got any clips?

Only the opening theme. In english. An RM file.
And a couple of audio clips, in french. Mp3s.
Still interested? 🙂

I loved the french theme song, though, since we usually got cartoons and anime through france, and re-dubbed them over french dubbing.

That's the reason why, for instance, they renamed Grendizer "Goldrake", after the french name "Goldorak".

...

Maybe I am an "older-toons" geek, after all. 😀 😀 😀

Around 3.5 megs or so. Prolly more after mime encoding.

I'm considering to upload them to my public group also. 🙂

My babies

Okay here is a picture of some of my CPKs. The top left is my doll I bought to replace my first one that I lost. 🙂 She's wearing clothes I sewed by hand for her including a fur coat. 😀
To the left of her is a red headed paci girl and on the bottom of the picture are two girls that I dont yet have clothes for. They are of my very favorite head mold which is the #5 with the little tooth. 😀
I have about 10 dolls here in my room and many more that are stored away. The oned stored away are the ones that are clothed with stuff I bought for them. They're the really nice ones that I had in our office before we closed it. The ones I've got out are mostly all nudies that I bought more recently. 😀
I've also got one here with a #3 head (same as brown haired girl in picture) with super clean lemon yellow hair and green eyes. Too cute!
I love my babies!!

Is it weird that I know all about the different head molds, hair types, colors, and stuff? I'm a bit obsessed. 😀

It just dawned on me how they called them in italian: Bimboli sui Cavoli. Roughly "Wee Babies on Cabbages"...

Sounds like a bad drink.
But could be worse. 🙂

Nessie--your babies are so adorable!!! I have a doll collection, too...not just CPK's, but this company--Berenguer dolls...they are the most lifelike babies I've ever seen...and they aren't expensive as far as dolls go...I've collected them since I was little and, even now, at 22, I "adopted" one a couple of months ago because I have several of different ethnicities, and never found one of Asian decent...well, I found Emma, on sale at a Kaybee toy store that is going out of business...and I couldn't pass her up...I'll post a pic of my Ler and I with her, as she's our "daughter"...don't laugh!!! We want to adopt a child from China someday in the future...so I adopted Emma for my Ler and I!!! As practice...yeah...the cheesiness never stops...She's got a couple of teeth, too...like your model #5's...it's not a great pic of any of us, just so ya know...but it's all I've got!!! 😛
