Victory for Obama. Just thought I'd be the first to post about it. 😀

Here's to four years of being proud of being American!

Sure it's a very good thing for you 🙂

Let this be known. We The People of the United States of America have elected our first black president because he was the better man for the job.

This is a line in the sand. A date where it can be said there was a before and after. I've lived nearly 30 years in the Old America. One dominated by the idea of white supremacy, of a status quo.

Now a black man of common upbringing has become the President of the United States. Let's let this be proof to the World. Proof of what you ask? Simple.

Proof that there are no races, no sociopolitical differences. Only Human Beings. You are my brothers and sisters, as I am your brother. One world, one race. Let us look at this as a sign that there's one more nation ready to put the prehistoric ideals of color behind us. That difference is no longer something to fear, but something to embrace.

Let's walk into this new century together, as one planet, hand in hand.

History is being made, people. Make sure you don't get left behind.

the hollywood brother thinks that tonight is a historic night no matter who you voted for. the hollywood brother just hopes that people made their voting decisions on what was important to them and not because it was hip or cool to vote one way or the other. the hollywood brother also think that the next few months will be very hard and it will be awhile before america is surfing a wave of prosperity but as with all cycles there are ups and downs. right now bush got us into the down cycle but the hollywood brother thinks that we will get back into a up cycle pretty soon.

I want to post this... this is the lyrics to a song by the band Chicago released in 1969. The title is "Someday (August 29, 1968)".

It starts with a sound clip of African-American protestors at the Democratic National Convention on 1968. My friends, 40 years from the Civil Rights Movement to the first minority president in the United States.

THAT'S WHY THIS NATION IS GREAT!! People, rejoice in living part of history. We were here for this, NEVER forget this day. Ever.

Would you look around you now
And tell me what you see
Faces full of hate and fear
Faces full of me
Do you feel the rumblings
As your head comes crumbling down
Do you know what I mean

Run, you better, run you know
The end is getting near
Feel the wind of something hard
Come whistling past your ear
As they try to get you
Where it will upset you down
Now you know what I mean

Someday you will see how long
Weve waited for the time
To show you how weve died
To get together with you all

Twist and turn your head around
till everythings unclear
Twist and turn your arm around
Until it is not there
And theyd love to burn you
Or at least to turn you around
Now you know what I mean

Can you look around you now
And tell us whats to be
Can you look inside yourself
And tell us what you see
As you feel the rumblings
As your head comes crumbling down
And you know what I mean

Someday you will see how long
Weve been waiting for the time
To show you how weve died
To get together with you all

In 1969, we were in the middle of war. Our sons were dying by the thousands every day. There was so little faith in the country, and in society as a whole.

Now, 40 years later, we've CHANGED HISTORY.

Jesus, I hope every one of you can understand how important this day is.

This has got to be the greatest birthday gift I could get. Being here to see the world change.

America voted for a charismatic teleprompt reader because the taste of George W Bush was still fresh in their mouths. McCain was left carrying the mess of Bush's 8 years on his Republican platform and had a huge monkey on his back that he wasn't to able to shake. They kept saying it wasn't a race thing, but more an age thing. Discrimination in another form.

I disagree that the better man for the job won. The man with experience did not win, and Obama hasn't led so much as a parade through his hometown. So while the country has voted for "something different", we're all going to learn together what you just voted for behind door #3. Oh, the joy of discovery. 🙄

This just flat out blows.

I hope as much as I hope for anything that our new president can bring back the real promise of America: both security and freedom, and a chance for our children to have an even brighter future than we have, and the same for their children.

I hope we survive the next for years...

theres no way he's gonna be able to fix the mess in the middle east
or even for that matter, fix the mess here

oh well, i voted for mccain and he lost so whatever i have the right to complain from now on if things get really bad haha

and if things get better with obama, lol then i guess he's ok after all
but I doubt it

Now I've read a couple more tear-jerking posts. Okay... so what? He's black. So. What.

For the last 18 fucking months we've been bombarded with the "race issue" being a factor with all the superpatriots saying it's not a big deal. It's not an issue. So if it's not an issue when voting for him, why is it such a big fucking deal now? What do black people gain from this that they're soooooooo excited? They're acting like "FINALLY... we're gonna get some black breaks around here." This is a country of giant pussies where we already have more laws and regulations about putting minorities first than anywhere in the world. So again... explain to me how this benefits one group more than another - outside of democrats.

He's black. Big f'ing deal. What did he accomplish? How am I supposed to be more proud. I don't get it.

This is the guy who wants to yank the military out of the countries cold turkey and sit down and talk or negotiate with terrorists countries and leaders. Oh, yeah. This is historic, alright.

Hey now everyone! Just enjoy the next four years.

According to interpretations of the Mayan Calendar (And the fact that it Ends.) we're not going to be around past that!

Seriously... we're all going to like... combust... or something.

So pursue happiness and cut loose! (Within legal means.)

Ugh...and now for a change of dress. Military Style yo....

Congrats America you just re-elected Jimmy Carter. Boy those years were great weren't they? :umm: Stagflation, the Misery Index, Gas Rationing... yay!

Well at least in four years when the economy is still in the crapper due to Obama's tax increases, punitive energy policies and rampant welfare payments to all at least they won't have Bush to kick around anymore. The president and party in power always get blamed whether they are responsible or not.

So in celebration of our new socialist country I think I'll quit my job and just live off the teat of the State for the next four years. :tired:

But at least there are some bright sides. We don't have to worry about the disingenuous Democrat tirades about rich Republicans stealing elections with money after Obama spent $650 Million. The days of limiting spending is over. Free agency just hit politics (that worked so great for baseball). :ayyy:

And Joe Biden... God love him... we get four years of Biden gaffes. :bouncy:

I'll just have to go order my 'Don't Blame Me I Voted For Palin' bumper sticker. 🙄

On the subject of those tears nerrad spoke of.... >_>

I love the people complaining about the issues that McCain would have had to deal with anyway because they were gonna happen no matter who won. ^__^
Go Obama

ITT: Obama Voters go "Hell yeah all races are somehow one now, love, peace, change, and all that crap", McCain Voters go "lol The country will now be absolute shit, we'll be waiting to say we told you so because we feel like being very small right now".

This is the guy who wants to yank the military out of the countries cold turkey and sit down and talk or negotiate with terrorists countries and leaders. Oh, yeah. This is historic, alright.

Breathe.

Breathe.

to the Obama nay-sayers, look at Reagan. He was best known for being an actor and was practically voted into office due to the fact he was an actor, and look what happened, he ended up being practically the best president we had to date.

at the very least give Obama a chance, he has'nt even had a chance to do anything in office yet.

Barack Obama is the right choice for our time. He has demonstrated the vision that will be a transformational force for our nation.

Regardless of whoever is the right choice or not, the majority of the people of the United States of America have made their choice and that is the choice you must live with, for better or worse. This next year will be very interesting to watch though as I am curious as to what President-elect Obama will do once he's in office and while he's in office.

The end result is that - For Better or Worse the majority of people of the U.S.A. chose Barack Obama... end of that chapter.

im just worried about his stated plans on taxes
he's gonna be taking MY hard earned money and trying to SPREAD THE WEALTH?!?!?
giving it to other lazy people so they can sit on their fat butt and watch Opra tell them that barack hussein Obama was a good choice for president because he made history by being 1/2 black...

while im working to pay off YOUR car

ah but when the stock market crashes, gas prices go back up like they will, and your being taxed 70% of your income...
dont blame me, I supported Ron Paul, then voted for Palin

Heh. I made the same comparison with Carter.
Took a specialization class last year on American History and i immediately had to think of Truman too when the Obama hype began. (after the even more annoying Hilary hype)
Over here the media were all 'yaaay'! If Hilary wins... there is a FEMALE president! And than afterwards... if Obama wins... there is a BLACK President!
Aaah political correctness... you'd think the media would put the attention first on programs, long and short term policies...
But no why bother? I mean democracy is all about making laws and media circusses around minorities right?
Obama is going to be a major dissapointment because:
1) He's actually as much part of the establishment as the other candidates. He was simply portrayed differently.
2) Internationally he'll be a joke. Though i bet the media are going to portray him like a great bringer of peace and major treaties. Which sounds quite familiar... . I think the results of those treaties will be similar to the previous times too.
3) Economic crisis is afoot in the entire West. He'll mess up and even if he's reasonable competent, he'll have his hands tied on his back.
The same problem McCain would have had. The President that won this election was doomed to loose favor fast if things escalate even slightly.
