De-institutionalization started with the Community Mental Health Act back in 1963 during the Kennedy Administration. Not with Ronaldus Magnus in California. Many states started to dismantle their facilities back in the 60's. By the 70's and 80's the genie was out of the bottle.

As for the bailout I never said it was only the only Democrats. The Democrats ran around demagoguing the issue with the whole "They bailed out Wall St. We gotta bail out Main St." That was pure BS. It was GOP opposition which killed the first bill. The Democrats could have passed that bill on their own, but they wanted a GOP figleaf to protect them and the morons (including McCain) gave it to them.

Clinton raised taxes... retroactively... to get his budget surplus. By the end of his administration the economy had tanked again. Not exactly sound economic policy. If everything was so rosey under Clinton shouldn't Gore have waltzed right in like GHWB did after Reagan? Gore should cleaned Bush's clock based on the great Clinton economy but he didn't. It wasn't until the Bush Tax cuts that everything took off again.

As for LBJ... He never balanced his own budget. He was dragged kicking and screaming into it by the Conservative Democrats in his own party particularly Wilbur Mills. LBJ wanted a tax increase, Mills demanded budget cuts and freezes. If LBJ was left unchecked The Great Leap Forward... er Great Society would have saddled the country with debt, taxes and more entitlement programs.

[And to the people who may think this is angry talk. Its just a simple debate. No need to lock any threads because of me. I'm not angry or mad. 😉 ]

Ah, rightwing revisionism at work. Unsurprising. Previously you said the 70's, which was correct, now you want us to believe it was the 60's, which is horsepuckey. Reagan was the first, I remember it distinctly.

No, you just implied it by never mentioning Republican cooperation. For a "former" Republican, you sure spend a lot of effort covering their asses.

Gore did win, your "Gang of Five" on SCOTUS stole the election from him. Bush 43 was selected, not elected.

Even if all of that is true, you still can't point to any balanced budget by a Republican president since Eisenhower. Nice try at changing the subject, though.

I know there are political forums to go discuss things. It'd be cool to have a conversation outside tickling in a group of "such tight friends and the greatest people ev-ah!" I failed to see where anyone was "race-baiting" yesterday as Val pointed out, but it goes with the nature here: agree or get out. So... later gators. Sorry for any waves I may have made.

Perhaps you forgot this little race-baiting gem:
I agree. all the obama bin ladin supporters voted for change, with the positive thought the change would be good. However, his changes could be bad. Besides , obama has no balls everyone knows his angry militant white hating wife will be running the show

and your own rather provocative post:
Now I've read a couple more tear-jerking posts. Okay... so what? He's black. So. What.

For the last 18 fucking months we've been bombarded with the "race issue" being a factor with all the superpatriots saying it's not a big deal. It's not an issue. So if it's not an issue when voting for him, why is it such a big fucking deal now? What do black people gain from this that they're soooooooo excited? They're acting like "FINALLY... we're gonna get some black breaks around here." This is a country of giant pussies where we already have more laws and regulations about putting minorities first than anywhere in the world. So again... explain to me how this benefits one group more than another - outside of democrats.

He's black. Big f'ing deal. What did he accomplish? How am I supposed to be more proud. I don't get it.

This makes me wonder if closure was your intent all along:
You've been around long enough, Senshi. You know how this place works. We'll be closed here by mid-afternoon. [USA time.] But wait... if someone draws a picture of Obama's wife being tickled in stocks, I'm sure all will be forgiven.:tired:

No one said "agree or get out," but the rules are very clear that calling something an opinion does not provide a free pass:

We take the "be polite" rule very seriously! We do not tolerate any rudeness. Any member who is intentionally unpleasant or disruptive will receive one warning (at our discretion). And if the member offends again the member will be banned without warning. This goes for private messaging as well.

We don't intend to censor messages based on the opinions expressed within posts, but we will enforce the policies outlined both here and on the Forum.

Nerrad, I hope that you will be able to participate here in a way that benefits both you and the forum and that is consistent with our rules. I wish you the best whether you decide to stay or go. Any further discussion of this matter will be by PM.
