How dare a small portion of my money go to help someone who lost his leg in an industrial accident and can no longer work to support himself, and didn't have health insurance because of the exorbitant cost. It's robbery, I tell you, the cripple should support himself with his own two legs! Er... one leg!

I demand that my money no longer be given to my grandparents who worked 40 years or more and need the government assistance to pay for the cost of the medicine they need to take in order to live relatively pain-free lives.

Seriously. Stop drinking the Kool-Aid and think before you make statements like these. Want to know something interesting? More people (70 percent) thought Obama would raise their taxes, and most of those voted for him anyway. Revelation! Taxes just might not be the be-all and end-all of government policy! Gasp!

i've always been proud to be an American..it's the leaders i was ashamed of..but that had nothing to do with me..i never voted for Bush..

you should always be proud to be a part of a country that has the liberties we have had..and now finally the right man is in the White House..or will be shortly..

What he accomplished so far was (a) picking a far more qualified VP than McCain did, and (b) beating your guy about the head and shoulders with an unprecedented campaign. That's leadership.

I'm not naive enough to believe that every vote for Obama was really for him and not against the GOP, but you can't beat something with nothing and for all McCain's "experienced" status, Obama offered enough hope to convince most voters that change really is a better option than more of the same. Even McCain tried late in the game to become the agent of change.

Sigh. I guess this also needs typed out. I think Bush was the worst president ever. I did not vote for him either time. I never liked anything about him or most of his cabinet. I thought Colin Powell was a great choice, that's about it. I'd personally prefer to erase or omit the last 8 years from the books. So while I'm not a radical republican, I'm also just not willing to blindly get behind a guy who hasn't proven anything, good or bad. He's as green as the people in the TT. The same argument was made against Palin. What's she done to be qualified? Nothing. But neither has he. Be honest about it. I'm not crucifying him before he even gets sworn in. I've told several people who've pm'd about it that I liked several things about each guy. But we can't have that, so it's a little worrisome to hand the controls of the US to a guy with zero experience. I wouldn't even think as much about it if he were getting this in 2000 with the next president getting the country's Clinton money surplus and not being at war. But with things teetering and as volatile as they are, I don't know that this is the best time for a guy, who's seeming qualified [but not experienced] to get his feet wet and learn as he goes. That's why I voted the way I did. I couldn't careless if he's black.

But I do hope that everyone who rallied so hard to get him in continue to stay active and effect these changes together. If this is such a historic moment and so important, prove it. Don't retreat back to your couches for four years bitching about the evening news. Treat it like the unifying movement it is and lets see something, because there'll be no letting up on the presidential report cards and he made big promises. I hope he's able to do it.
